Rose two places, to 45th. Just above Czech Republic, just under Montenegro. Egypt is in 43rd, so hopefully a win in our friendly will see us progress up the ladder, bit by bit.

Greece remain at 45, Congo and Bulgaria ahead of us is laughable. Hopefully we can get a result vs Switzerland who are 8th.

It has its flaws but it does not hide truths as well. Since October 2016, we have won 2 games vs Cyprus & Gibraltar so we can’t expect that much

We are better than a lot of teams ahead of us and within that period we also drew Croatia, Belgium and Bosnia 2x, but point taken.

Group I in the World Cup will be the group of death for sure:  Netherlands, Chile Italy & Ghana, glad the Pirates missed that one.

Up two spots in the new ranking that was released today: #42.

Our opponents in the Nations League: Hungary #51, Finland #62, Estonia #94.

As long as we remain pot 3 we are fine. After that is when the issues occure.
Next euro will be 10 groups of 5 or 6 teams. And being pot 3 with a mediocre pot 1 and pot 2 team could even see us 1st but big chance that it could see us 3rd based on the current rankings.

A theoritical draw at this moment:

Pot 1 right now: Spain, Belgium, France,Germany,Sweden,Denmark,Croatia, Portugal, Switzerland,England

Pot 2 right now:Italy, Wales, Austria, Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia,N.ire, Romania, Rep of Ireland,Iceland,Ukraine

We would be pot 3

So you could obviously there could be meme Groups like Sweden - Austria - Greece

but there could also be very bad Senarios like Belgium - Italy - Greece

I dont expect pot 1-2 as a total to change much.
Big teams will play each other so they ll win even just 1 or 2 of their 6 games they ll stay pot 1-2. I do expect however us being able to take this opportunity considering we re grouped with bad teams, to try and get ourselves to pot 2 , avoiding teams that are pot 1 powerwise and have been having bad results lately (Netherlands,Italy right now).

In total we got the biggest advantage to go up in the rankings than other teams in League B who shouldn't be there. They re out of their league and they ll probably do terribly, giving us a shot to actually take their spots. Talking for teams such us Czech republic, Northern Ireland, Ukraine, Slovakia, even Bosnia considering 2 of their 4 good players got retired.

I believe 3 wins at home and 3 draws away would be the minimum to do in this group. Wouldn't mind 4 wins either but we struggle with nations parking the bus. And we all know that teams like Estonia will park the bus trying to stay in division C.

Completely agree!!! the Euro draw can go either way that's why I think we need to really do whatever it takes to come out of the nations League because the Euro draw can go either way... As far as teams parking the bus we do struggle against these teams and  when we try to play all out to break their wall we have been scored on the counter so we need to really watch those teams and early goals against teams like that is key before frustration kicks in.. I agree I think 3 wins and 3 draws probably gets it done but going 4 and 2 will definitely do it.

The UEFA Nations League is only used for European Championships qualification, not FIFA World Cup qualifications.

Honest opinion?
I would rather have a very tough from pot 1 and a team worse than us from pot 2.
This way we secure that the pot 2 team would be destroyed by the pot 1 meanwhile we ensure that being a successfully defensive orientated team, at least the goal difference would be in our favor, if we could not bring a world class result by drawing them , like we did with Belgium.

Two mediocre temas like a Sweden-Romania could unironically steal points from each other making it more complex. Knowing that you have one opponent for second spot than two opponents for top two spots makes it difficult to predict how it goes.

England would rip Greece apart. Not because they’re better, but because their speed.

England do have speed but they play the kick and run style which suits our defense fine. I would much rather face the English then a great technical side such as a Belgium or Spain.

Good point when you look at it from that perspective. Looking at the pot 2 teams none are really scary. Holland are on the decline and have one of there weakest starting 11 in years. Italy are in transition. Poland looked poor allover the pitch at the WorldCup. N. Ireland, Slovakia, Romania, Austria can all be beaten. Maybe Iceland would be the most difficult team out of pot 2.

Greece remained at 42 in the September FIFA rankings. France and Belgium are tied for 1st spot, the first tie for top spot in 25 years.

England has always beaten Greece though. While we have gotten results against Belgium and Spain.

Greece tied England in 2002 World Cup qualifier and the eglesi were lucky to get that draw. I think we would fair better vs them. I don’t want anything to do with Spain even though we have had good results against them but they look to be back in top form and hungry again after demolishing Croatia. France and Belgium are the two best sides in the world but we did give Belgium a tough test but they can throw so many quality players on the pitch so I want to avoid them.

Overall record sits at 2 draws and 7 losses. 0 wins. We've scored 3 goals and conceded 23 in those games. Historically we are awful against the English
