Football-ranking.com posts live fifa rankings. We’re currently in 50th position which is up from 55 and their about 98% accurate. We can go up to 48th if we beat kosovo on Sunday. We need to win 6 out of 6 and hope some teams in Europe drop points as that will help our pot rankings for the euro 2024 draw.

If you have it up still, 48th would be good for what # in Europe?

25th in Europe which puts us in pot 3. 1st pot has only 4 teams then after that each pot has 10 teams. We need to be top 25 to stay in pot 3 which is a far cry from the days of pot 1 or 2 that we use to be in back in the glory days. Euro 2024 is being hosted by Germany who gets automatic qualification. Once nations league is over they will use the fifa rankings at that point to determine seeding and pots for the euro 2024 draw.

Euro 2024 draw isn’t based on FIFA rankings. It’s based on uefa nations league rankings. So if we get promoted to league b depending on our Points compared to other group c winners we could be placed anywhere from 29-32. League A is 1-16, league b is 16-32.

I think pot 1 will have 10 teams all from League A, then pot 2 the next 10 ranked teams including 5 from League A and 5 from League B.

Yes I think it’s 10 a pot so if we finish as top 2 in league C we will be pot 3 (ranked 29/30). If we finish 3rd/4th out of league c winners we will be pot 4 (ranked 31/32).So getting maximum points in our group is important.

I know we played Kosovo Northern Ireland and Cyprus and I’m not trying to overreact, but looking at these League B groups they are not that intimidating at all! Again I say that very cautiously lol but I don’t see why this crop of players can’t crack League A after the next Nations League!

Looks like we are going to gain 20.1 pts and jump up 7 positions from 55 to 48.

In other news, isn’t it so strange how Kosovo is ranked 107? They have some skilled players, and they’re put in between Thailand and India

The commentator yesterday said they’ve only won 2 of like 23 World Cup qualifiers so that’s what does them in I guess.

They do have a solid team for a country their size.  They have recorded results against much larger teams.

If we can maintain a winning form, stay injury free, then I believe we can reach 20-25 in the FIFA classification within 12-18 months, about where Sweden, Serbia, Poland and Ukraine are at the monent. Teams that I think we can compete with. We will need a good Euro qualifying campaign, get to Euro 2024 and pick up some good results, and then consolidate our position in League B. Hopefully some of our younger players can come through, and shine.

For sure if Poyet keeps up the good work & sticks to his plan he will get us there. What’s funny is the USA at 14th playing in such and easy region is ahead of wales, Sweden and Serbia. What a joke.

Slowly moving back up. I think a fair landing spot before the Euros will be 30s. Rankings don’t mean anything for qualification anymore I think. It’s based all on nations league right?

#50 today as Panama gained a lot of points thanks to their good run in the Gold Cup reaching the final. They jumped from 57 to 45!!
