  1. Did not see the game as I was in the middle of all the Oktoberfest craziness. Followed the game on line but after the first 1 liter the score was a disappointing 1:0. Continued drinking and completely forgot about the game only to find out the final score after I got back to the hotel. Good result and hopefully we can get something out of the home game against Eintracht.

  2. I am a fan of Poyet and what he's doing with the Ethniki, but there are 3-4 of these call-ups that are puzzling. Bouchalakis and Limnios have not played one minute of football in the first month of the season, yet they are un-droppable. While Alexandropoulos and Konstantelias are not called-up. Tzavellas he wants for experience(dressing room etc), but seems like he's played one out of three for a newly promoted side in Turkey, not exactly inspiring form. Poyet is trying to do what Otto and Santos did before him, have a 'club' like feel to the NT where it's the same core of players that are called-up. While that has some merit it can also lead to disharmony amongst players/coaches/fans. Ultimately if we get results people will forget about these decisions, but if you add the layer of Fortounis stepping away the media and football public are starting to slowly starting to turn on Poyet. The atmosphere around the team had been so positive because of great results, hopefully this doesn't throw too much of a spanner into the works and the team can keep chugging along. You can guarantee if we come out of the 2 games next week with 4 points, everyone will be singing his praises. Let's see what happens.

  3. I think it deserves to be noted that this season has been very exciting so far for the Panatha fans. I was surprised, to be honest, that PAO would or could pass Marseille and have several great Euro games. Today, they beat Villareal--a powerhouse in Spain and Europe. They won the Europa league 2 years ago, and, ok, they're not the same calibre team, but still they are a great team. Last week they scored 3 against Barca. Today they had 1 great chance to score but PAO stopped them while scoring 2 superb goals by Fotara and Sporar. The bottom line is that I see Greek teams actually being competitive agains much bigger clubs. For example, PAO has a budget of $24 mil. and Marseille $240... ten timex bigger. Anyway, let's hope Panatha has a good Euro performance and wins some silverware in Greece.

  4. AEK flew to Brighton & Hove Albion with only one CB and expected by many to get beat easy... We won 3-2 in a super impressive performance!!! I was worried about our defence but I thought Mitoglou and Symanski did a great job! We are now first after Ajax and Marseille drew 3-3!

  5. Kedziora is good against strong teams. But going forward offensively he struggles. We need to find someone like Baba on the RB side who can make overlapping runs w Andrija

  6. No chance of 3 goal differece, if we beat Ireland then lets just beat Holland and hope they drop points but its a big as just to win at this stage

  7. This was bound to happen, most of us have been disappointed on some (not all) of the call-ups but were proven wrong. Today, we were proven right. It's not the loss that hurts, it's how we lost.

  8. Rota is not a good option back there, Baldock getting injured reminded us that the RB position was a big issue before him.

  9. Baldock ruled out due to injury, that's a blow. My confidence in us getting a result has dropped with the news, Rota is poor defensively and gets found out often. In a game where we are going to have to be solid at the back, it does hurt our chances. Going to need a big defensive shift from Masouras (which he is capable of)and the mids to support Rota at right-back. No surprises in the reported starting XI but of course we won't know for sure until an hour before kick-off. Mavropanos is suspended due to the send off v France in June. ----------Vlachodimos Rota----Retsos---Xatzidiakos---Tsimikas -------Kourbelis----Siopis-----Bakasetas (playing as a 10) Masouras----Giakoumakis/Pavlidis----Mantalos

  10. Couldn't ask for a better draw. Avoided some tricky teams. No excuse for not advancing past the group stage.

  12. Fortounis did this IMO because he didn't get called up against the Ireland and France matches. I believe reports came out he was disappointed not to get selected for those matches so he went from being disappointed to not wanting to be part of the NT in the span of two months? Anyways sucks but it is what it is... Here are the call ups:

  14. Fifth League match and fifth goal for Christos. This time from the penalty-spot.

  15. Another crucial game (at this moment). If Ireland is beaten, the Ethniki better win with a minimum of three goals difference. Otherwise it depends on gifts from France in the last match.

  16. I am with the "skoulikia" from Cyprus in this one. No way I would want the Gavros of Czech Republic winning any games.

  17. Fourth League match and fourth goal today. But remember this is only the second tier. Good for his confidence though.

  19. Talk about amateur hour, the 4 players who were thought to be suspended for this game were actually eligible to play. Obviously didn't impact the result but how that can happen at this level is mind boggling. What if this had been a game against the Irish, Dutch or French? The four players in question were: Tsimikas, Kourbelis, Siopis and Mantalos. Fyssas and Konstantinidis have taken the fall as technical directors of the team and maybe be sacked (although I doubt it). Surely more than 2 people know the rules? Crazy. 20. So far HT in both games things are going well. An Ireland win would be huge but even a draw works well

  21. This will be a good bounceback game, good chance to let out some frustration after being outclassed by the Dutch. Better win by at least 3. Otherwise this expected win won't do much for us, unless maybe the Dutch slip up in Dublin, get some Irish help.

  22. I think given the circumstances, a real shame we are not seen the real talent take the field in a game like this 😡

  23. Very disappointing performance, team was in good form and had just frustrated a more talented French side. But to be blown away like that in the 1st half is really poor. TBF we didn't do much wrong until we conceded the first goal, the Dutch had a clear height advantage and looked threatening every time they had a corner. The way we were torn apart for the 2nd and 3rd goals was simply not good enough for this level. That just about buries any chance of direct qualification we have. The Dutch have a game in hand on us too and own the H2H (we would have to beat them 3-0 in Greece for other tie-breakers to come into calculations) so they are basically 4 points clear of us with the game in hand too. We also have to play France again. We have to win our last 4 to have any hope, and even then it's out of our hands. If the Dutch win 4 of their last 5 they would qualify ahead of us. Off to the play-offs we go! Let's hope the squad can have a strong finish and hit the play-offs in March with plenty of confidence.

  24. Yes we need Ireland to get a draw but that looks like a tall task. Missing Mavropanos and Baldock was a huge blow. Also Fortounis can’t have a spot on this team? The midfield play was atrocious.

  25. Disgraceful! Worst performance since a 3 nil loss to Italy in a euro qualifier under coach Ange!

  27. Need France to beat Ireland too. To essentially make this a 3 team race for 2 spots.

  28. Huge blow not having Baldock and Mavropanos. Rota will get exposed big time. Poyet during his pre-game press conference said when asked if they will try to attack more "It all depends if we have this one injury that i was told that may make us change our game plan" he was talking about Baldock. he knows now they cant be that aggressive down the right side with Rota back there. Badlock was doing a good job joining the play and crossing the ball in.

  30. 0:0 half time We hardly created any chances to score. OFI had three decent chances. At least 1 red card should have been given to OFI players.

  32. Though Cukaricki is a Belgrade club, their stadium is not up to UEFA standards, so this return will be held in the city of Leskovac in southern Serbia. Olympiakos in the driver's seat after winning 3-1 at home. Another win, a draw or a loss by 1 and Olympiakos qualifies for the Europa League.

  35. But things are going well. AEX and Pana no CL and more important no big money for just entering GS. They go to EL and join the Gavroi (leading 1-5 on agg. at 53’) and they share the market pool for EL with the three of them. We are in ECL and won’t have to share the marketpool.
