Antaeus7 Posted June 28, 2018 Posted June 28, 2018 I like the Fair Play rule Gotta show some sportsmanship in these games. 1
Antaeus7 Posted June 28, 2018 Posted June 28, 2018 Here are the lineup for the round of 16 in case you have not noticed. Uruguay - Portugal Spain - Russia Denmark - Croatia France - Argentina Sweden - Switzerland Brazil - Mexico Japan - Belgium England - Colombia 1
athinaios Posted June 28, 2018 Posted June 28, 2018 well, I also like the fair play rule as a tie breaker; maybe another one after this (instead of a lucky draw) would be who scored earlier in a game. From the remaining teams, I'd like to see advance: Uruguay, Spain, Den/Cro, Argentina, Mexico, Jap/Belg, England, Sweden.
Antaeus7 Posted June 29, 2018 Posted June 29, 2018 Have you guys notice that 4 of the European teams that qualified from the playoffs are facing each other? How weird is this?
Ellada2004 Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 Mbappe was incredible what a performance. Coach tattoo was totally clueless yet again for Argentina.
Ellada2004 Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 Russia defended well, Spain could not break through with all there possession aside from a fluky own goal. Croatia did not look convincing at all but they got through. Modric pk in extra time was a pathetic attempt vs Greece he put it away convincingly. I think Russia will like there chances vs Croatia.
athinaios Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 I was supporting Spain, but they way they played, they should be out. Kudos to the Russians who died on the field defending. Lucky on the penalty, but... Spain looked that they wanted to walk into the net in order to score. As for Den-Cro the luckier one went through. Croats didn't look all that good today though. But against Russia anything can happen. They've got a lucky draw/bracket. Belgium got the weakest opponent and should advance. I hope Mexico beats Brazil, and Sweden beats the Swiss. I also want to see England v. Columbia, because this is the best chance and bracket for the English to advance all the way to the final. I'm not convinced they have it but let's see this game first.
Ellada2004 Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 Belgium avoids elimination from Japan by scoring 3 unanswered goals and one in the last minute on the break from Chadli. Crazy game, Belgium will have to start defending a lot better vs Brazil or there going to be in trouble.
Blackhawk Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 England and Sweden make it through. England in a penalty shootout against Colombia and Sweden with a 1:0 win against Albania. The quarterfinal matches are France - Uruguay Belgium - Brazil Russia - Croatia England - Sweden
Alphonse Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 England finally win a shoot out but should have won in the 90
Antaeus7 Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 It's about time England got that monkey off there back. I honestly want to see France, Sweden, Belgium, and Croatia go through.
paokarag4 Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 Would love to see Uruguay and Sweden get through to the semis. Before the tournament I wouldn't have minded if England had a run, constant failures and underperforming from 08-16 had taken away their fans and media's smug arrogance. Now after beating two of the worst team at the World Cup some of them are back on their high horse. F*** that, they scrapped past Colombia who was missing their best player, I hope the Swedes send them packing.
Ellada2004 Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 Kolo eglesi go through, they got lucky James didn’t play and that the ref was completely on there side. I hope Sweden knock those over hyped idiots out!
Antaeus7 Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 Edison Cavali might be out for Uruguay as he is racing towards fitness. He suffered a pulled calf.
Ellada2004 Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 Uruguay will hang on and defend and try to take this match to penalties. I see France winning 2-0 1
Epicurus Posted July 6, 2018 Posted July 6, 2018 I think France will go to the final. On the other bracket, England has the better chance, and maybe Croatia. IF the French maintain the effort they've shown us, they'll be in a great position to win it all. If Belgium had a better defense, they'd be my favorites.... Let's see today how they play against a top team like the Brazilians. One note: No matter what they say about Japan, I always admired their team. If those blue jerseys were worn by Greeks, I'd be very happy with their effort and routing for them.
Blackhawk Posted July 6, 2018 Posted July 6, 2018 I expected better from Uruguay. The afternoon game should be a good one.
Antaeus7 Posted July 6, 2018 Posted July 6, 2018 So far 2-0 Belgium. Brazil is struggling to find a quality shot.
paokara777 Posted July 6, 2018 Posted July 6, 2018 So just to put our WC 2018 qualifying campaign in perspective, We were edged out of a spot in the tournament by Belgium (a semi finalist and possibly more) and Croatia (1/4 final and more) We had a tough path!! Maybe we weren't as bad as we thought 2 1
Alphonse Posted July 7, 2018 Posted July 7, 2018 Please stop with that stuff man. England looking good vs Sweden, Sweden need to play much better in 2nd half
Polikastano Posted July 7, 2018 Posted July 7, 2018 I hope it just doesnt end up like 2004 where 2 teams from the same group end up in the final. If Russia can pull of a miracle , England will be in the final.
Antaeus7 Posted July 7, 2018 Posted July 7, 2018 The penalty shootout win really charged up England in a big way.
Antaeus7 Posted July 7, 2018 Posted July 7, 2018 That awkward feeling when two teams who denied Greece to the World Cup could play each other in the finals.
Ellada2004 Posted July 7, 2018 Posted July 7, 2018 8 hours ago, Alphonse said: Please stop with that stuff man. England looking good vs Sweden, Sweden need to play much better in 2nd half Sweden were absolutely terrible. They had nothing going forward they could barely make a pass and controll the ball. There defending which is considered there strength was brutal too. Who was covering Ali on the cross for the header? The Swedes were laughing it up on the sidelines with English substitutes when camera panned over too. Disgrace I hope Croatia destroy them.
