Blackhawk Posted December 1, 2015 Author Posted December 1, 2015 Rumor has that Berbatov offered to buy out the rest of his contract from PAOK, so he could be set free. However that's just a rumor, so we will have to wait and see.
BostonThanatos Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 I don't blame him.... He was brought in to a team/system that calls for a player that is the opposite of him in every way, by an owner without input from the coach or Tech. Dir. 1
Blackhawk Posted December 1, 2015 Author Posted December 1, 2015 In case of Berbatov, I would say that PAOK is a "small team" for a player of such caliber. We are not at the level, where we can handle such players. We are a "horio" in comparison to European class teams right now, playing in the only African soccer league in Europe. In Savvidis's mind he might think that we are a top level European team, and that's why he is talking about bringing in Berbatovs, Ronaldinhos, etc. Instead of building a team from the bottom up, he wasted 3 years on various experiments. I really thought that with Arnesen/Tudor, we might finally be on the right track, but it's evident that we still have a long way to go.
BostonThanatos Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 Not sure if it's actual drama, or "We need to sell newspapers" drama, but both sides quickly realized that this isn't going to be a match made in heaven. Berba doesn't have the Uber talented supporting cast his skill set requires, and we realized he isn't a freaking magician that will magically make us a Premier League caliber team.
Blackhawk Posted December 2, 2015 Author Posted December 2, 2015 If Berbatov leaves in January, it will just prove that PAOK is really a small club. 1
Bananas Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 If Berbatov leaves in January, it will just prove that PAOK is really a small club. +100 likes. Whether Berbatov leaves or not isn't significant in terms of goals or position on the ladder. His value to the team was always from a marketing perspective. My hope for this season was that he would bang in a few goals and teach some of the younger players how to be composed and professional ... the irony. In addition, I hoped that he would lift morale in general. It's not every day you get to have someone like Berbatov in your squad. The ideal scenario was that although PAOK was a step down for him, he would enjoy his football and just have a memorable time. I didn't expect him to stay longer than the one season, but I hoped he would look back and say he enjoyed his time at PAOK and didn't regret it. This also could have helped in signing "big" players in the future. Unfortunately, it's not looking good. It's a shame.
Tzatziki Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Whats the general opinion about Berbatov ? Do you guys think he has been a good signing or a bit of a flop?
Bananas Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 We think he was a good signing. Berbatov himself doesn't seem to agree. ;) 1
pash Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I disagree. My fears were realized pretty quickly.
Dutch Eagle Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 It is said that we are interested in Dimitris Hatziisaias from Panionios and Slovenean Andras Sporar from Olimpia Ljubljana. I wonder if we can catch 100 names of wannabee PAOKtzides until the transfer window closes in January.
Blackhawk Posted December 8, 2015 Author Posted December 8, 2015 If Vellios goes anywhere, he will go to Olympiakos. I don't rate him. Overrated player. Why would we need another Klaus on the team?
Dutch Eagle Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 We are interested in South Korean Hyun-jun Suk. He is a classic #10 and plays for Vitoria Setubal in Portugal. He is 24 and started his career in Europe with Ajax in Holland
Blackhawk Posted December 14, 2015 Author Posted December 14, 2015 Pereyra will apparently be loaned to Racing Club in Argentina.
paok4athens Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 If Vellios goes anywhere, he will go to Olympiakos. I don't rate him. Overrated player. Why would we need another Klaus on the team? Klaus is by far better than the tagari Vellios
PAOKSWEDEN Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 loool http://www.gazzetta.gr/football/article/848544/fimes-gia-falkao-kai-paok
BostonThanatos Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Yeah, him and Berbatov can have a reunion.
Bajewy Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 loool http://www.gazzetta.gr/football/article/848544/fimes-gia-falkao-kai-paok haha only have to outbid chelsea. ill preorder my jersey from now...
Dutch Eagle Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Tudor wants Andrej Kramaric from Leicester City. He was bought for over EUR 11,000,000 from NK Rijeka but does not play (a lot). I saw him playing against Feyenoord in last years EL. A very good player imo.
Pontos Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 A great goalscorer, a player too good for us but I won't complain if we get him
Bananas Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 He is on the bench for the team that is on top in the EPL. All it will is an injury or a player out of form and he's starting, in a team that is living the dream. He'll probably make more money in the EPL in one season than he would at PAOK in three. Why on earth would he come to PAOK ? The media should at least make these stories believable. 1
Nea Bafra Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 why not go on loan and at least play? wages are the same and the weather is better.
