Akritis_1944
Nikopolidis should probably get the sack.
Akritis_1944
It was a weaker lineup than what we have put out previously (missing Barkas, Ioannidis, Fountas and others) but surely we should not be losing to Israel by 4 goals. The current technical staff clearly can't get the best out of this group and its a concern. In the past Nioplias and Tsanas were getting better results. RED SHERIFF
outrageous result... is this not the age group that lost 10-0 to Swiss in a friendly a couple of years ago..
Akritis_1944
It's not really about talent. I'm sure some will contradict that but look at the players who are eligible and most of them are regulars for their clubs. This group has some issues (attitude, psychology etc) and EPO and the current management/coaching team isn't able to sort it out. Who knows what the solution is?!
Blackhawk
The solution is to completely disband EPO and start from scratch. Some of the criminals (Girtzikis and co.) have been removed, but a lot of their buddies are still at EPO running things. They completely destroyed the national team the past few years, and that has also been the case with the U-21 team. The most important thing is to appoint a regular coach, and not some ex-player without any coaching experience.
RED SHERIFF
EPO are an easy blame for this debacle.. it was the same 'EPO' when we won Euro 2004 and our 19s and 21s were making finals and getting big results..

Dutch Eagle
The U21's played a friendly against the U21 of Cyprus. They trailed 2-0 (goals Andreas and Karo) but avoided a defeat with goals of Melikiotis and Koulouris (penalty in 89').
RED SHERIFF
this was a new squad..and very young...as the next U21 championships are a while off. Do we know if Cyprus also played a new/young similar squad? or did they use players from the 'current' u21?
pash
Won vs Hungary's U21 today, 2-1. Goals by Lamprou and Vergos. Not sure who scored for Hungary (it was an own goal)
Boxou
two wins against belarus (0-2, galanopoulos and koulouris the scorers) and moldova (5-1, galanopoulos, manthatis, androutsos and koulouris twice)..this seems to be a rather talented youth team, probably the most talented after that 2012 generation which reached the final in european championship (and quite better than the side who reached the semis in 2015)..let's take a look at some players there evangelou (pao), retsos (leverkuzen), katranis (saint ettiene), tsimikas (willem), androutsos (olympiakos), galanopoulos (aek), lamprou (panionios), chatzigiovanis (pao), manthatis (pas giannena), limnios (paok), koulouris (paok), donis (stuttgart) and some other dudes who play for the likes of asteras tripolis, xanth and kerkyra (starters there). obviously retsos and donis didn't play in any of the games but if the team does qualify for the europea championship (currently leading a group of moldova, belarus, czechia, croatia and san marino, huge chance to win that) then we might witness one of the best teams in years in 2019 championship. by then most of these players will have already developed because they already start or come off the bench for respective clubs. skinny
Efthymis Koulouris is leading all goal scorers in the under 21 Tourney with 6 goals. Fat Phill is happy
Boxou
they look good..take into account that this generation misses retsos and donis who have been called up to the men's nt..pretty talented squad with many players from gsl big-4 there. we just beat moldova away (0-2) and in 3 days we're hosting san marino which should be a big margin victory. we should fight with croatia for the first place.

Boxou
hatzidiakos who is a regular in alkmaar has been overlooked again and again. i don't know how such a player couldn't find a place in the team for the god's sake. unless they're planning to lose him to netherlands (he has get capped with their u-17 team)
Blackhawk
1:1 draw with Croatia at Toumba today. Both teams remain unbeaten and level on points. Missed a big chance to take the lead in the group. Will be tough to beat them in Croatia. Croatians missed a penalty. We went ahead with a Manthatis goal, but conceded the tying goal after a serious mistake by our keeper.

Blackhawk
4:0 win against San Marina in Xanthi today. Next game on Tuesday against the Czech Republic in Xanthi again. That is the important game to win to keep our hopes to finish on top of the group.
Soprano76
Who are some of the big prospects that are looking to have a bright future for the NT? Has Spanoudakis been playing for the youth team yet? I know he came up thru the German system and was with them for a while. There's also that Albanian striker for Oly, named Vrusaj or something. I wonder who he'd pick if he has a choice. Boxou
probably the most talented u21 team i remember in years. they literally could have won 5-0 even playing with a man down for the whole second half. galanopoulos will be missed in the next crucial game against czech republic away in september. this and the next one, again away vs croatia will determine whether we qualify or not. we'll have to win against czech republic and belarus so the against croatia we can play for a draw as well. a possible tie with croatia might rule us out because they still have to play the easy games which will increase their goal average and probably surpass us.
