Greece country coefficient

@Bananas and @paokarag4, yes!

Just 6 (!) clubs from the countries ranked #11 till #55 wil enter the CL GS. 4 from the champions route, 2 from the league route. Tiny countries are strangled.

I hope CL implodes.

One of the things UEFA General Secretary ad interim Theodore Theodoridis said:

"We are happy that European football remains united behind the concepts of solidarity, fair competition, fair distribution and good governance."

What a farce :censored: :censored: :censored:

as a legend supporter, you don't want to go back 15 years. but thanks for propping us up to 14th place, i know there were tiny clubs that propped you up to automatic CL births.

so you dispute if AEK and PAO were 'doing a PAOK" OVER THE LAST 5 Years we would be around no.10-12?

This is tn Greek coefficient thread...

My posts here are somewhat pointed at some very bitter PAO fans who like to think that the GSL was so much better years ago...because our coefficient was much higher.

It was higher because PAO and AEK were accumulating points..we know what happened to PAO and AEK 2011-2015....The GSL overall has always been similar..I would say the bottom 6 are better today than 10-15 years ago..

GSL needs strong BIG 4 ..And strong Aris, Iraklis, OFI,AEL,Panionios

The GSL was 'better' only because Tzigger was putting money in....The same Tzigger that was driven away by PAO fans...The Same Tzigger that wanted Votanikos built but the Greek LAO demanded they play in a chicken shed...not a modern football stadium..because Tzigger and Vouvo would make money..

The LAO of AEK drove Demi out when he wanted to build a 50k stadium at ODDY..

I ask all the keyboard warriors would AEK and PAO and Greek football be better off if we had ODDY and Votanikos today?

The LAO demands.....just like the LAO of Iraklis are happy to riot in the streets in their thousands but refuse to go to the stadium to watch them,

Maybe..just maybe the Canadian may have been able to invest or sell the club if the 15000 rock throwers actually came on match day and clapped and cheered instead of riding their motorcycles thru the city throwing rocks..

Bravo to our Anchovy-friends for winning against Osmanlispor. Not only good for the coefficient in general but also because they eliminated a next contenders for the spots behind the big countries. The draw tomorrow will be at 13:00 CET.

Looking at other results from the first half of today's games - Ajax, Besiktas both won (which is bad for us).

For people who like Cyprus, APOEL knocked out Athletic Club Bilbao in what must have been a real fistfight of a match (both sides down to 10 men)

Sparta Praha out so The Czech Republic is without participants. That is good for us.

Shaktar out so Ukraine is without participants. That is also good for us. They are ahead but lose a lot of points due to economical and political reasons. Also Dnepr is not allowed to participate thus a weaker team take their spot.

Switzerland was already all out

Astra Giurgiu out so Romania is without participants. That is also good for us.

Osmanli and Fener out for Turkey. That leaves them with only one club. Good for us.

Pity that Belgium has three contenders left. But they are a lightyear away from us.

Now its up to Oly to grab some more points and minimize the damage. Maybe not for now but for the long term.

Not really about the coefficient but still interesting. This is from a guy on another forum. He updates every week the standings and transfers them than to the seedinglist of CL and EL (just one file right of the menu that is shown at the bottom) where you can your position of that week. It is in cyrillic but if you can read Greek it is easy to understand. There is also a format in English. I will try to find it and post it. Don't know why the last line has not turned blue and with a line but you have to copy past that too.

After the elimination of Olympiakos the final score for the 2016/2017 season is 5.800 points. Our total tally for the past 5 years is 27.900 points leaving us on spot #14.

There are no other countries below us with clubs still in competition. But 8 countries above us could drift further away from us.

Some other games of note coming up:

PSV vs  Osijek (Croatia)

CS U Craiova (Romania) vs Milan

Sparta Prague vs.... someone?

All teams representing teams from leagues that are floating around Greece's coefficient ranking.

Left and right there will be a lot of clubs of countries around (and way above) us that will be eliminated anyway as there are some more interesting mutual matches:

Astra Giurgiu (Romania) - Oleksandrija (Ukraine)

Zenit St. Petersburg (Russia) - Bnei Yehuda (Israel)

Olympique Marseille (France) - Oostende (Belgium)

FK Krasnodar ((Russia) - Lyngby (Denmark)

Sturm Graz (Austria) - Fenerbahce (Turkey)

Dinamo Bucharest (Romania) - Athletic Club (Spain)
