The problem is all the foreigners that come and play on middle level teams and leave after a year. The constant rotation mix-up is killing Greek Soccer. You cannot have teams changes 15 players every year. It is hard to get up and play top European teams when your competition during the week is Kalamaria, Ergotelis, etc. I don't see any changes coming anytime soon. Things are looking very bad. paoknyc Posted September 16, 2006 Share Posted September 16, 2006 Kokkalis and Vardinoyiannis are to blame because they are cheap and only care about maximizing the amount of $$ they put in their pocket. All they have cared about is making sure that they both finished 1-2 in the protathlima and making the CL group stages. Gievn the financial problems that Paok and AEK have had over the last couple of years, a top 2 finish was assured for both of them. They easily could have made a couple of quality transfers each (by Greek standards) and had their teams make an impact in the CL group stages and even have one of them make an occassional run into the quarterfinals. Instead, they have done nothing but sign over-the-hill foreigners on free transfers. Now they have shot themselves in the foot because come next year only 1 greek team will be in the CL and they will now have to qualify. Kala na pathoune e malakes. The players are not being developed and the organization is not done porperly. Not saying Olympiakos is not to blame, all teams are and all organizations need to do a better job.
