Greece lead as much as 15 points, lead at the half 40-30, now down by 3 after 3 quarters. A poor third quarter by Greece, limited to just 13 points. 56-53 Brazil lead.

Even if we advance to the next phase we are screwed. We need to beat Turkey then hope they and the US both beat Brazil. Chances of getting to the knockout round is slim when you need to depend on other results. Waste of a tournament.

Or Greece can just take matters in their own hands and Beat USA, Brasil and Turkey and then we go through

We don’t play Brazil again, we play USA and Turkey, if we beat both we need one of them to beat Brazil, if we lose to the US and beat Turkey (more likely scenario) we will need Turkey to beat Brazil. As it stands the US and Brazil will be 3-0 whilst us and Turkey will likely be 2-1. The loss to Brazil carries into the next group phase, so we need other results to favour us, that’s how crushing this loss was.

In the meantime we need to crush NZ to get our points differential up just in case that becomes the tie breaker, not holding my breath our offence has been atrocious.

In all likelyhood we are gonna have to beat the US and Turkey to advance, one win from those 2 is still likely to leave us short.

Giannis does not mesh well with the Greek team. He needs a bunch of shooters and not guys who will clog the paint like PapaG. Regardless, losing to Brazil with or without Giannis is unacceptable.

So, Greece must defeat New Zealand to advance into the next round, and will have to play better against USA and Turkey (assuming they defeat Czech Republic tomorrow).

Yeah looking at the 2nd round format (i hadn't looked at it in depth til now) you're totally right, results carry over and you only play the 2 teams you havent yet. So yeah we are relying on results to favour us,. strange format

Looks like Greece will win and advance into the second round where they will face United States first, then Czech Republic.
I heard Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics player) will sit out vs. Greece.

Correct, Greece have themselves to blame for blowing a 15 point lead against Brazil and played a crappy 3rd quarter which cost them that game and the potential quarterfinals appearance.
