Argy Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 Joined Arsenal in January 2018 from PAS Giannina for £1.89m. Arsene Wenger initially intended to send him out on loan, but his plans changed after seeing him in training. "The first signs he showed were so encouraging that I decided to keep him," he said.
pash Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 Some Arsenal fans on twitter are calling this a sign of the end of Wenger, as Mavropanos was identified and pushed by Sven Mislintat (formerly of Borussia Dortmund, who also is at least partly responsible for Sokratis joining that club). It's implied that Wenger didn't even know who he was, which is why he was so surprised by him during training. It's a great sign that he's being kept on until the end of the season, but it remains to be seen if he'll see any time. Arsenal has some problems defensively, including the pending retirement of Mertesacker, so expect a big signing next summer. Mavropanos will have to beat out several young prospects that are currently at the club (but who have failed to make a case for themselves).
Dean97 Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 Apparently he has been doing very well for the u23s side.
Argy Posted February 3, 2018 Author Posted February 3, 2018 I can see him getting loaned out next season, but he definitely has the potential to earn a spot at Arsenal in near future.
georgelaz Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 started for Arsenal vs. Manchester United. Despite Arsenal losing 2-1 he was rated 8/10 and arsenal fans are praising him stating that he's a beast on multiple occasions. Beat Fellaini on a few headers + kept Lukaku in his pocket and nullified a lot of his contribution.
Alphonse Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 Watch out for Mavropanos - Papastathopoulos combo in EPL
Argy Posted April 30, 2018 Author Posted April 30, 2018 That would be a dream combo from a Greek football perspective, and I think would serve Arsenal very well. Mavropanos needs to be called for the upcoming friendly. He just started for Arsenal in a league match vs Manchester United, I can`t see any situation more deserving.

He might be needed for the u21s re. I wouldn't mind seeing him in the senior team also. Galanopoulos deserves a call up for sure but them again the u21s need him too.
Argy Posted April 30, 2018 Author Posted April 30, 2018 Same could be said about Retsos no? I am saying to call him up the senior squad and let him play with the U21s when needed.
Dean97 Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 We already have Retsos and Donis. If the u21s are not playing at the same time as the seniors then we should play him. The u21s have 2 crucial matches left and it's important that they have a full squad. It's also for their development that they all play.

Yea but they don't have matches on May 15th when Greece plays a friendly vs Saudi Arabia.
paokarag4 Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 another start for him tonight at home against Burnley. Kick off in about 10 mins
Argy Posted May 7, 2018 Author Posted May 7, 2018 You guys should see all the praise he is getting from Arsenal fans on Twitter. 1
Dean97 Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 He is playing very well. I never new about this guy only when he was playing for PAS in the last few weeks before leaving. Does anyone think he will be called up to the national team for next week?
Argy Posted May 8, 2018 Author Posted May 8, 2018 When you start at Arsenal, there should be no question about a national team call up. He doesn`t have to play right away, but it is important to get him accustomed to the NT culture as early as possible, like we did with Sokrati. He will get to know his fellow countrymen, and this will give him an extra boost of confidence and yet another thing to look forward to and play for in his career.
Dutch Eagle Posted May 9, 2018 Posted May 9, 2018 Started today and was sent off after just 15’ (after a so called professional foul as the last man in line).
Dean97 Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 The potential is there with him. He is still young and understands what he has to do going forward. I hope for the best for this player. Hope he can receive a call up to the national team in the near future.
Argy Posted September 25, 2018 Author Posted September 25, 2018 Arsenal just updated his status. He should be back at full training in 4 weeks.
Greekaroos Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 Kostas Mavropanos returned to EPL action for Arsenal away to Manchester City overnight, coming on as a 79th minute substitute for Shkodran Mustafi with Manchester City leading 3-1 & the score remaining the same at full time. 2
Bardouuu Posted April 15, 2019 Posted April 15, 2019 Mavropanos is starting today against Watford in 45 minutes! 1
paokarag4 Posted April 16, 2019 Posted April 16, 2019 Didn't have a great game apparently, he was rusty (understandable) and was hooked off after an hour. Arsenal managed to hold on for a 1-0, Sokratis was suspended 1
Argy Posted April 16, 2019 Author Posted April 16, 2019 Arsenal held a clean sheet. He was fine. A bit nervous, but that's normal being a 21 year old with only 1 premier league game under his belt and having not played in almost an entire calendar year. He did not make any costly mistakes. Koscielny, who was injured for a few months and has hundreds of top tier caps under his belt, was very rusty in his first 3-4 games coming back from injury this season. Our kid is more than alright. 1
Bardouuu Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 Konstantinos Mavropanos, who has struggled with injuries since joining Arsenal in January 2018, will miss the next two months with the same groin problem.
