Antaeus7
I was thinking 2-0 Greece wins. Your right ausgreek, 3 of the 4 suspended players will not be missed. Greece can replace those players in a heartbeat. Edited May 24, 2017 by Molon Lave
RED SHERIFF
the team is substantially weaker without Samaris, Taxi, K.Pap... we do not have anyone to replace Samaris and Taxi...with experience at this level..
Rockafeller Skank
K. Pap could be useful in the midfield as a CDM since Samaris is missing. Taxi also missing really leaves us with all our B options. Problem is that all of our B options havent been tested. In my opinion, we might be surprised. So will Bosnians. Plus , the element of surprise as to "who will play in the midfield with all their mids banned" might actually work for us. I am not aware if players who have no more club duties could join the team earlier, to start planning for the upcomming match. Bosnian midfield has much less influence. It is mostly Dzeko and Ibisevic positioning that makes Bosnia a threat. If Dzeko doesn't play, Ibisevic is quite managable at this age. Moreover Kolasinac, another very talented Fullback-Wingerback-Left Midfielder, the only player who could have a problem if he got booked vs Gibraltar, actually got booked. They don't have many options. I think we can, and we will, get a draw there. Winning is also possible. If we make them sleep like we did with the Red Devils. Their defence is nonexistent on paper. J1078
We were lucky to scrap out a last minute tie against Bosnia at home with a full line up. Now we are going into the Bosnians house with a weaker line up it will be a tough task for us to come out of there with a point. Not saying Samiris is some great midfielder but he's the only guy we have right now and kpaps brings grit and energy to the team which we will miss fosure. Bosnia will have no problem controlling the game and they will get prime scoring chances let's just hope we can somehow hold a clean sheet which will be difficult. The mentality the NT team needs is the exact same one they had against the The Red Devils stay back defend like hell and attack when you get a chance because if we open it up at all we will concede a goal. Greece is always better when the play back first and attack on the counter.
RED SHERIFF
Our midfield is non existent now without Taxi and Samaris . Bosnia will boss the midfield....Their will be no element of surprise for Bosnia.. Our only hope is Manolas/Sokratis holding them out...and Fortounis/Mitro conjuring up a chance or too.. Rockafeller Skank
When are the call ups announced? All our internationals don't play competitive anymore. All Olympiakos greeks as well. Maybe the management is waiting for the Sunday Play off matches to conclude his callups?
Rockafeller Skank
I honestly believe youngster Donis deserves a call up at least to be inspected from the specialists and Skibbe. WithKarelis injuredDiamantakos being terrible and unable to play on the wing , as well as a very bad season in Bundes. 2Bakasetas minimum playtime in AEK and 0 contribution in all his starts for the National team. I honestly think we can expect one of the Donis, Kolovos, Pelkas to be called. Kolovos had a good season but he was still injured in February and he still hasn't returned. So calling him for a match 15 days from now seems almost impossible in such an important match, where our offence can secure firstspot. Pelkas is active for Paok whole season, especially since Rodriguez left, but Skibbe does not seem to rate him. Especially with his latest upgraded playtime (after Nice secured 3rd spot and mathematically could not go higher), I think he might be an option that could give Mitroglou some breath. Argy
Calling up Donis and any other in-form/budding CF is a no-brainer on a team that lacks in both depth and creativity up front. Edited May 26, 2017 by Argy
pash
No reason Skibbe needs to wait for the play-offs to be completed. The relatively late announcements have been a theme with the ethniki for a while now. Regardless, I wouldn't expect many surprises from him. Rockafeller Skank
Surprises not, but we ll see new members due to suspensions. Tzavellas,Tachtsidis,Samaris,Papadopoulos are 4 players who were called in each camaign so far. 4 out of 23 I believe? Karelis injured means 5 out of 23 usual suspects. That's a quite big portion of the team. I honestly hope every suspended can/does at least attend to the training, so that the chemistry, which currently is on point, remains that way. Greekaroos
Panagiotis Glykos suffered a torn ACL injury in training which will likely leave him out of action for four to six months. At best he would of been third choice behind Karnezis & Kapino.
Rockafeller Skank
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_FIFA_World_Cup_qualification_–_UEFA_Group_H Guys, I was checking the goal differences of us and Bosnia but something else caught my eye. Can you take a look at the discipline area? It doesn't mention Kyriakos Papadopoulos being inelidgible for the match vs Bosnia. Are we sure the instant red gives a 3 match suspension? Dean97
I think it's a 2 match ban. Apparently Skibbe might call up young Olympiakos defender Retsos.
georgelaz
lazaros is in pretty solid form. he seems to be involved in every goal for aek in these playoffs and we're talking top 5 greek league so that's a good level. he assisted bakasetas goal and also got a game winner and creating tons of dangerous chances. he's played at NT level and was decent in 2014. think he's a no brainer with a lack of wingers. pelkas is also looking nice this season as well with that thunder goal against pao to lead them into winning the cup. the greek playoffs gives our NT a nice little advantage for international soccer because it keeps everyone in form. Dean97
I think Manthatis should be given a chance. He is not experienced but he can do the job. Donis can be useful aswell. I was thinking the same as you Georgelaz, but Lazaros can be very inconsistent and frustrating. I wouldn't mind seeing him start. The new additions to the team will be Lykogiannis, Donis, Retsos, and 2 others with the rest being the same. Bakasetas and Diamantakos don't deserve to be in the team, aswell as Vellios and Tziolis. In my opinion if your going to call up Donis then choose one out of Diamantakos and Bakasetas. Not both. We all know that Mitroglou is starting. It is also very rare he gets subbed off. So use that other spot in where we need it most. Central Midfield. I hope Maniatis and Zeca boos the midfield with their energy and running. That's what we are going to count on from them. Your not going to count on them with producing amazing passes like Tachtsidis would. Edited May 29, 2017 by Dean97
Makynia
I just read on Novasports.gr that the National team is meeting Thursday to start preparations for Bosnia. Where is the list of players selected by Skibbe? Just read also Zeca suffered a knock out 7-10 days not sure if he'll be ready for Bosnia game. Are we always the last ones to submit our list?
Boxou
May the force be with us Yeah Zeca is sort of injured but he will try not to miss the game. In case he misses it though, that would be catastrophic for us since we already have like what, 3-4 midfielders out. It's a pity that we have to play the most important (until the next one) game of the campaing having 5 main players not available. Skibbe has been doing a good job and Imo it would be unfair to lose the game and possibly the chance to play in the playoffs under such circumstances. Possible squad Karnezis / Kapino / Paschalakis Torosidis / Stafylidis / Lykogiannis / Retsos Sokratis / Manolas / Siovas / Oikonomou Maniatis / Zeca / Siopis / Tziolis Mantalos / Fortounis / Gianniotas / Lazaros Mitroglou / Vellios / Donis / Mpakasetas It's way to difficult to predict the line-up for me at the moment as we dont' know yet how Skibbe will approach the game. Imagine having Papadopoulos, Samaris, Tachtsidis, Karelis and Tzavellas for let's say Oikonomou, Maniatis, Tziolis, Bakasetas and Lykogiannis. That's a solid squad Imo and even if the things don't go our way in the upcoming game I think we could upset the almighty Belgium which might have already qualified when we meet. Keep in mind that Bosnia has still to play away against Cyprus, a side which they have faced plenty of times the past 2-3 years and have struggled a lot and Estonia which demolished Croatia in their last international friendly. These are 2 tricky games for them but at the same time they have a home game against Belgium who will be enjoying their trip to Russia and it's quite possible for them not to play at full strength as far as they will not have any motivation. That's why I think that a win in a few days would guarantee us the second place no matter what, unlike a draw which might make the situation more complicated. I hope we approach the game not seeking for a draw because Bosnia's defence is a weak one especially now that their best defender is suspended so we'll have our chances to score and I hope we do it.
