pash Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Who cares? Maybe people can start talking about his "potential" at the age of 32 after he's had a chance to kick a ball. Which I'm still skeptical will ever happen again. I think he'll be cut in a few months, personally.
maggica Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 My gut feeling tells me that samaras will get back to a high level again. I just sense it in his character, I believe he can pull it off.
Tzatziki Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 Lympe was always quality imo. Even in his later years he delivered. Samaras has been inactive for so long and Lympe I don't think ever was. Lympe aged really well as a player and never really looked out of his depth as far as I remember. Samaras might have a couple years left in the tank, but realistically it will be a crazy uphill battle for him to get anywhere near the level he once was I think. I do wish him the best though and I would be very pleased if he proved me wrong. 1
Tzatziki Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 (edited) If you look at Lymbe's strike rate for example, it was higher in his last two years with aek, than his previous stint. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikos_Liberopoulos Edited March 17, 2016 by Tzatziki
Argy Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Still can`t believe he can`t even sign in MLS. Hopefully will get in form and make the leap sooner than later.
Tzatziki Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 Hopefully, but time is not on his side. Best case scenario he puts up some good numbers and an MLS team picks him up, that might be his ceiling now. 1
Polikastano Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 2nd game of the season and Samaras enters the game in the 51st minute!!! Poor guy cant even start . Guess he is out shape still lol
Nikod Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 Guys!! I met samaras after his match in Miami last night. Very quiet, polite guy but friendly. Unfortunately he didn't get off the bench. His team won 3-2. The quality of play was very uneven but there were some excellent moments. More skill on display than I expected. Many of the players have spent time in MLS. Also on samaras' team was Derek boateng. Any PAO fans remember him? Also, the coach of Miami is Nesta. Crazy to see him coaching at this level. His tactics were off from the get-go and Rayo went up 2-0 on counter attacks despite getting dominated. He made a first-half sub that changed the game and they tied it 2-2. But Rayo won a soft penalty at the death to clinch it. 1
georgelaz Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 great interview. he's very well spoken and has great ideas on the topics discussed.
Argy Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 (edited) How a 31-year-old player who has fairly recently scored goals in the Champions League, Euro and World Cup, finds himself on the bench of a 2nd division American club is beyond comprehension. Edited May 2, 2016 by Argy
Akritis_1944 Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Samaras is an ex-international. He's never going to play for Greece again so what he does now in his club career is to his detriment.
Tzatziki Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Never is a strong word, but it does seem like you are 100% on the money the way things are now.
georgelaz Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 If we suddenly starts dominating and moves up to the MLS (not improbable) I can see him come back to the NT. Dellas was thought to be finished by doing to Cyprus, but when he returned to AEK he also returned to the NT. He's actually playing and we're still talking about him. Unlike Salpingidis who basically disappeared after he couldn't get a PAOK contract.
MykinesFC Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 I feel sorry for Rayo OKC. They are probably thinking, wtf? I think Rayo knew exactly what they were getting... A recognizable name signing who is injured and out of shape but if fit could make an impact. The upside on the field could be great, but the real point was to sign someone with a pedigree (Man City, Celtic two WCs) that most soccer fans have heard of.
Dutch Eagle Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 OFI is heading for THE transfer of this summer: They want to bring Georgios Samaras back to Crete. 1
Dutch Eagle Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 Mou anixes tin orexi, Reaper! Must buy one this weekend. 2
MykinesFC Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 Based on what I've seen online, NASL players are quite accessible after matches. ^ELLAS75, do you know if there's a way to meet him before or after the game? I don't care if he starts or even plays, but I would go just to meet him.
Dutch Eagle Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 Mou anixes tin orexi, Reaper! Must buy one this weekend. Just drove 25 minutes for my pita giro. With some extra's: 1
MykinesFC Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 Watched the 2nd half of the game. Samaras came on in the 67th minute, I cant believe he does not start. He had some good touches and some sloppy passes. This league is crappy to watch he has to get back to playing in Europe, I hope he can get his career back on track. I watched the same on NASL.com Not impressive at all. He should just go to OFI and work on whatever salary they give him. If he is finished, working to get OFI back into the Super League is more admirable than slogging it through the NASL as a sub. 1
Rockafeller Skank Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 He is much better than that. But he decided to end his career rather than take a proper treatment for his back problems. He is probably there at he team to commercialize the league and the team itself.
Akritis_1944 Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 GrkCdn, yes apparently meet and greets for fans are available. For a nominal fee of $25 that's USD not that inferior Canuck currency you can press Samaras' flesh or he can press yours after the match.
Akritis_1944 Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 You wouldn't forget your medications right? So why would you forget to laugh?
