pash Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Well that was a shitty ending to the US/Colombia match. Both teams down to ten men. Poor all around. Looking forward to Chile/Argentina, should be a good one.
pash Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Klinsmann is right about one thing - the US players are coddled and are too afraid to get physical.
paokarag4 Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 I can't believe that, I feel he has spoken with a lot of emotion. Surely he'll reverse his decision?? 1
Bananas Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 He said "It's not meant for me". Really ?! This sounds something like Christiano would say.
RED SHERIFF Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 really poor reaction by messi. At 29, he should go the next WC....Then give it up.. I can imagine by 31 ..he may have had enough of Copa America...but worth another WC tilt..
Akritis_1944 Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 He was overemotional and in a moment of weakness said too much. I highly doubt he's retiring from the NT any time soon. He'll be leading Argentina in to yhe next World Cup.
Dutch Eagle Posted June 27, 2016 Author Posted June 27, 2016 Don't agree with you, RS. I think Messi is tired of all the $?
pash Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 Messi misses 22% of PKs (which is actually worse than Ronaldo). But, just like Ronaldo with free kicks, he still takes them in these vital situations. Why? Ego. He's not a martyr, and there's really no need to make excuses for his failure rate. If he wants to stop playing for his NT, then he can stop that too. He doesn't owe anyone. If his teammates want him back bad enough, they can drop to their knees and ask nicely, too.
pash Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 I'm referring to Messi's PK record, and his insistence on taking them is similar to Ronaldo's insistence on taking free kicks.
Original Sydney Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 Some guys have made good points on Messi but fact is a TRUE footballer will always continue to hunt for trophies. Everyone bags Ronaldo yet he gives it his all when playing so he can win trophies and he doesn't have half the talent in his team that Messi has. Messi took the easy way out and like I have always said, he will now be remembered as the best club player ever, nothing more. Ronaldo has made 1 final at that was at a young age when we made him cry yet time after time he still represents Portugal proudly. Maybe those who bag Ronaldo can now throw some at Messi too, for me he is a coward for retiring, but something tells me he will be in Russia.
Original Sydney Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Plenty of footballers do cocaine as it leaves the body system within 3 days, easiest drug to take and not get caught, well that's unless you are Maradona and you have a kilo of it a day
Original Sydney Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 That's what I say Pana, you can never have enough lol
Original Sydney Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Actually quite the opposite hahahahaha brings the edge on lol
Bananas Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 ^ cocaine's a hell of a drug Are you Rick James in disguise ?
Dutch Eagle Posted July 3, 2016 Author Posted July 3, 2016 Hope he comes back revitalised after a kind of sabbatical with no travelling back and forth to Argentina. And no media harassing him.
pash Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 WHAT HAVE YOU DONE, AMORGIGGLES? Do we really need a 200th post from Pana saying why?
Original Sydney Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Pana the blame will always be on Messi as he is regarded the best player in the world, same with Ronaldo when Portugal fail. Baggio took Italy to WC finals too doesn't mean anything when you don't rise to the occasion in the final, that's where the big players get their recognition. I don't see how the whole team was at fault for losing each final though, in last 2 Copa America finals, Argentina's defence didn't concede a goal so to say the whole team is at fault is wrong, defence did their job the front line didn't. Its the old saying defence wins you titles, attackers win you matches. 1
Original Sydney Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Of course we will have different opinions, but fact is you cant blame the whole team as you did, defence stats show they did their job, front line didn't when it mattered most.
