Giannou was sold by Tripoli to some Chinese team for 2.2 million Euro. He will get 1 mil Euro salary.

Impressive.  Good for Tripoli because there is no way in hell they could make such a sale in Europe and impressive for Giannou because let's face it he'll never make those sorts of wages in Europe.  Not ideal for his career but he'd be silly not to take the money.

Not exactly, assuming he would never get an upgrade in europe, he'll be making a buttload of money before returning to either Greece or australia to finish up. As far as international rep goes he has only played a friendly for greece so he can still play for Australia where we don't have an over abundance of out and out strikers.

In theory he is capable of playing in Postecoglou's high movement system.

What the F*** is a Socceroo?

Apparently it's a label that Australia gave to their Ethniki.  They think it's cool, but fail to realise that it's actually embarrassing.  Australians do like to think they are the centre of the universe.

Yes, the team perform despite the name instead of because of it

He's done very well for himself.  He's looks in great physical shape too.  Too bad when he played for us he was always on the tubby side.

That is the difference between a real soccer league and the banana republic Superleague. I remember when he left PAOK the first thing the German team did was put him on a strict diet and training regiment before he could even play his first game for them.

Maarten Martens had ended his career. He stopped looking for another club after he left us and was not able to find one.

He atmitted his body probably wasn't made for top-football as he was injured a lot.

But he was glad he had some great moments in his career becoming champion with AZ Alkmaar and participating on the Olympics with Belgium.

Good for him and Wolfsburg. I've been following the Wolfsburg games on Fox Sports most of the season and he has been playing that position for at least 1 season now.

was voted into the bundesliga team of the year last year as a full back

Our boy's playing in that position again, in the away leg vs RM. They're currently down 2-0 with about a half hour to go, so it's going to take a huge effort to get through now. Good luck to him.

-edit- well, no surprise how that ended, I guess. A pity.

Haven't you learnt yet that when you comment on games while they are being played that you are a jinx!
