I think Greece was planning to bid on a WC with Egypt & Saudi Arabia but that failed. If we had gotten that bid, then the gov't would have certainly helped fund the new stadium.

Very possibly (the shame alone is reason enough to expect it!), but I do wonder what the actual reasons are for not greenlighting this. I am with @Bananas as far as the confusion goes. I do think we've talked about this some time in the past, but the fact that development can just never even start is kind of wild. From what I recall:

• there were issues with the proposed height of the new stadium, which is part of the reason why they wanted to "sink the pitch"
• i'm guessing that sinking the pitch and eliminating the track will allow another 6-12 rows of seating to be added
• i recall us talking about the likelihood of them finding archaeological items of interest if they were to dig (and I definitely remember measuring out the distance of the stadium for already-known features - it's a near certainty)
• the "iraklis" situation at kaftanzoglio may lend fuel to the government conspiracy theories, as it is nonsense for them to give iraklis such deference when they aren't paying their own bills (esp when their own existence is questionable)
• it's also irrational for stadium management to not want the free significant upgrades we were offering, with our older lighting/cameras/etc
• as for funding it - i thought i had read that Savvidis would just cover the whole bill, but obviously i have no proof of that since nothing ever happened

The fact that we allegedly engaged Populous but also have zero renders to show for it really smells.

Only Savvidis knows the answers to all these questions. As far as I know Populous presented presented Savvidis with 3 different designs and the team would pick one. There was even a talk that fans would have a say on the design that they preferred. Apparently Savvidis forked out around 4 mil for these designs.

Everything was going along and then the Russia - Ukraine war started and things got frozen. I think that is the main reason why things did not proceed. At the same the current government on the instructions from the US and European Commission tried to make things difficult for Ivan Savvidis. Frankly, I don't believe Savvidis will finance the new stadium until the war in Ukraine is over.

Big news concerning the new Toumba stadium. The amateur PAOK, the owners of Toumba Stadium, have come to an agreement with Aristotelis Mystakidis to finance the construction of the new stadium. Mystakidis himself came out with a press release:

Is this meaningful? It was my impression that the issues were for permitting and red tape, not funding.

Just reading around, and some of the media is taking the lack of a reaction from PAE/Savvidis as an indicator that they weren't expecting this development. 

If that is true then who knows what the reaction will be. Will he be annoyed/his ego bruised with someone else swanning in and offering to pay for the build thus getting plenty of love and adoration? Will he welcome it as clearly it is a big financial investment, so someone else footing the bill is appreciated. Either way, I don't think Savvidis will appreciate having being blindsided (if that is indeed what has happened). 

Everything in Greece must be taken with a grain of salt, so even with this announcement, until there is a bulldozer getting to work who knows if he is legit in investing 150 Million Euros or whatever the cost is. I guess we will know more in the coming days, but you imagine that the when the sun rises in the next few hours in Greece, PAE will have to take a public stance on the matter.

Savvidis did reply 12 hours after the Mistakidis/Amateur (Erasitexnis) PAOK announcement. He basically said that PAE PAOK is not for sale, and that he promised to build a new Toumba and his plan is still to accomplish that. He also added that any financial help in order to build the new stadium is welcomed.

In my opinion what Erasitexnis and Mistakidis are doing with their announcement is an attempt take over the PAE PAOK by forcing him to sell the team to them. I am also certain that they are doing with the help of the Greek government whose eventual goal is to take over the Thessaloniki port from Savvidis and chase him out of Greece on orders from US/EU  governments. 

I would like to be proven wrong, but there is no way all three will sit down together and agree to cooperate building the new stadium.

The stadium will either be build immediately by Mistakidis, who will also be the new owner of PAE PAOK. In that case all the necessary permits will be issued right away. Also in this case, I am not sure that the new stadium will be build at the Toumba location. I would not be surprised if it is going t be build somewhere else.

The other option will be Savvidis staying as owner of PAE PAOK and the new stadium will drag for years, with government throwing in obstacles like they did for the past 3 to 4 years.

You realize that this is years, if not decades, from being build. All this latest press releases are nothing but a response to the overthrow attempt of the current owner of PAE PAOK by the billionaire Mistakidis with the help of the government.

I also wonder if the news sites are a bit more tightly wound up (financially) with the ownership than they'd like to admit. They all pounced on this same story today, loving those talking points. Then again, it's probably better to have a fool who volunteers to do your work than to have a fool you pay to do your work...

Η αναζήτηση επενδυτή άρχισε μέσα από την γνωστή σε όλους σας τοποθέτηση της ΠΑΕ Π.Α.Ο.Κ. κατά την γενική συνέλευση στις 2/6/2025 και την προτροπή προς τον Α.Σ. να βρει χρηματοδότη για την κατασκευή του νέου γηπέδου. Ξαφνικά βρέθηκα σε αδιέξοδο, πραγματικά ξεκρέμαστος και άμεσα στις 3/6/2025 ως Α.Σ. βγάλαμε ανακοίνωση πως θα κάνουμε την προσπάθεια που, επαναλαμβάνω, μας ζητήθηκε να κάνουμε για την εξεύρεση επενδυτή.

Περιμέναμε δέκα μέρες και δεν προχωρήσαμε σε καμία απολύτως ενέργεια. Αναμέναμε μια διάψευση ή μια νέα ανακοίνωση από την ΠΑΕ Π.Α.Ο.Κ. για το νέο γήπεδο η οποία όμως δεν έγινε ποτέ.

Χάρη στην βοήθεια φίλων του Συλλόγου ήρθαμε σε επαφή με τον κύριο Αριστοτέλη Μυστακίδη. Θεωρώ ότι η επιλογή του κυρίου Αριστοτέλη Μυστακίδη ήταν η καλύτερη που θα μπορούσε να γίνει. Οικονομικός παράγοντας πολύ μεγάλου μεγέθους με επενδύσεις σε όλο τον κόσμο αλλά και στην Ελλάδα ενώ τα κεντρικά γραφεία των επιχειρήσεών του θα βρίσκονται πλέον στην καρδιά της Θεσσαλονίκης.

Με τον κύριο Αριστοτέλη Μυστακίδη μετά από πολλές συζητήσεις και αφού έλαβα εντολή από το Δ.Σ. του Α.Σ. υπογράφηκε συμφωνητικό-μνημόνιο, στο οποίο οι δύο πλευρές δεσμεύτηκαν από κοινού να συνεργαστούν με σκοπό την ανέγερση γηπέδου με ίδια κεφάλαια του κ. Μυστακίδη, στην Τούμπα και μόνο στην Τούμπα. Και ότι το γήπεδο αυτό θα είναι υπερσύγχρονο, προδιαγραφών UEFA που θα δύναται να φιλοξενήσει τελικούς ευρωπαϊκών διοργανώσεων και θα καλύπτει τις απαιτήσεις και τις ανέσεις κάθε φιλάθλου.
Φυσικά, η ομάδα ποδοσφαίρου του Π.Α.Ο.Κ. θα αγωνίζεται στο νέο γήπεδο της Τούμπας μετά από δέσμευση του επενδυτή προς τον Α.Σ.

Πρέπει και θέλω να τονίσω ότι όλα τα χρόνια στήριζα με κάθε τρόπο τον Ιβάν Σαββίδη αναγνωρίζοντας την τεράστια προσφορά του στο σύνολο της οικογένειας του Π.Α.Ο.Κ. και ιδιαίτερα στο ποδόσφαιρο.

Είναι γνωστό ότι στις εκλογές του 2021 και 2024 ξαναβγήκα πρόεδρος του Α.Σ. ικανοποιώντας το αίτημα του ίδιου του Ιβάν Σαββίδη προκειμένου να αρχίσει και να ολοκληρωθεί η κατασκευή του νέου γηπέδου.

Τόσο αυτός όσο και οι συνεργάτες του γνώριζαν την ειλικρινή στάση μου απέναντί του, ουδέποτε δημιουργήθηκε πρόβλημα μεταξύ μας ενώ οι διαφωνίες που υπήρχαν, ήταν πάντα για το καλό του Συλλόγου μας.

Μπορεί η αναζήτηση επενδυτή να προέκυψε μετά την προτροπή της Π.Α.Ε. Π.Α.Ο.Κ. αλλά αυτό δεν σήμαινε ότι ξέχασα την τεράστια προσφορά του Ιβάν Σαββίδη και ότι ήθελα να βρεθώ απέναντί του. Δεν ήταν ποτέ αυτός ο σκοπός μου.

Κάνοντας μια μικρή αναφορά στο παρελθόν, θέλω επίσης να τονίσω ότι το καλοκαίρι 2022 που παραλάβαμε τις μελέτες του νέου γηπέδου, συζητήθηκε και συμφωνήθηκε ότι θα πρέπει να είναι έτοιμο το 2026 για τον ιστορικό εορτασμό των 100 χρόνων του Π.Α.Ο.Κ., κάτι που δεν προχώρησε.

Αυτό το διάστημα δεχόμουν ερωτήσεις/πιέσεις από φιλάθλους του Π.Α.Ο.Κ. που ανησυχούσαν για το πότε θα γίνει το γήπεδο. Η απάντηση μου ήταν πως το γήπεδο θα γίνει από τον Ιβάν Σαββίδη όπως υποσχέθηκε και η καθυστέρηση στην έναρξη των εργασιών για την κατασκευή του, ήταν αποτέλεσμα των συνθηκών που επικρατούσαν , γι’ αυτό άλλωστε, ουδέποτε δημιούργησα πρόβλημα αναγνωρίζοντας τις δυσκολίες.

Μετά από αυτά και όπως όλοι έχετε αντιληφθεί, τις τελευταίες μέρες έχει ξεσπάσει…κύμα επιθέσεων με άδικες κατηγορίες προς το πρόσωπό μου από φίλους του Συλλόγου και ανθρώπους της οικογένειας του Π.Α.Ο.Κ.

Αυτές οι δηλώσεις και η παράλληλη στοχοποίησή μου από μερίδα Μ.Μ.Ε. καθώς και η σπίλωση του ήθους μου και της αγάπης μου προς το Σύλλογο από συγκεκριμένους δημοσιογράφους καθώς και η ψευδής και παραπλανητική αναφορά περί δήθεν επαφών μου με πολιτικούς παράγοντες της Ν.Δ., με οδήγησαν στην παραίτηση μου , που υποβάλλω με την παρούσα επιστολή .

Έχει έρθει η ώρα να κοιτάξουμε όλοι κατάματα την πραγματικότητα και να αναλάβουμε τις ευθύνες μας. Έχω ήσυχη και καθαρή την συνείδηση μου ότι έπραξα το καλύτερο για τον Συλλόγο μας.

Can someone explain to me [apologies but my Greek is not good enough to fully comprehend the articles written in Greek with any certainty] what the relationship is between the football club and Amateur PAOK is Amateur PAOK the arm that runs the rest of the club "AC PAOK"? The Amateur PAOK (or AC PAOK) is the arm that runs the amateur teams and sports under the PAOK umbrella. They own the name PAOK. They also own the stadium and the land that the stadium stands on. The professional teams of PAOK (football and basketball) are run separately by their owners, but by law AC PAOK has a 10% ownership in those teams. Those teams pay AC PAOK fees to use the name as well as the stadiums (Toumba for football and the PAOK Sports Arena for basketball).

Two bits I didn't pick up on when the team announced it (or maybe they weren't written there).

First, the Populous site says Kleanthous is going to be "relocated underground" - I'm not sure what that means? I had heard that the team was going to take over the space of that school which is across the street, and a few of the pictures show a substantial underground component to the new stadium - do they literally mean they're going to have a tunnel under there? Seems a weird choice if they're just talking about pedestrians, since the entire surface area looks like it'll actually be quite walkable and nice.

It also says the stadium will sit on that 360-degree "podium," and if you look at the below render, you can see the field is even with the outer entrance. This implies that they aren't going to sink the pitch after all. Is this to mitigate the chances of accidentally uncovering an ancient city, I wonder? You can also see the big empty space I mentioned in the last paragraph, under where the people are walking. Surely that's not a tunnel for cars?

 

 

Anyway, overall, I think I love it. This looks sick. Can't wait to see it, in the year 2153.

Mistakidis basically gave AS PAOK a piece of paper showing that he has 250 mil sitting in a bank account. Doesn't really mean anything. This is basically round 2 of the hostile takeover of the PAE PAOK by Mistakidis with the help of AS PAOK.

Η ανακοίνωση αναφέρει: “Aντιπροσωπεία της ΠΑΕ ΠΑΟΚ, αποτελούμενη από την Μαρία Γκοντσάροβα, τον Αγγελο Αναστασιάδη, τον Μάριο Τσάκα και τον Κώστα Φωτιάδη, επισκέφτηκε σήμερα τα γραφεία του ΑΣ ΠΑΟΚ και συναντήθηκε με τον πρόεδρο, Αλκιβιάδη Ησαϊάδη, τον αντιπρόεδρο, Θεολόγο Μπεκιάρη και το μέλος του δ.σ., Δημήτρη Πατρίδα.

Η αντιπροσωπεία της ΠΑΕ κατέθεσε στον ΑΣ ΠΑΟΚ ένα πλήρες μνημόνιο συνεργασίας για την ανέγερση της Νέας Τούμπας, και παρουσίασε μελέτες, τοπογραφικά, master plan και άλλα σχετικά έγγραφα.

Το προτεινόμενο μνημόνιο συνεργασίας είναι αποτέλεσμα και των διαβουλεύσεων όλου του προηγούμενου χρονικού διαστήματος, με εκπροσώπους του ΑΣ ΠΑΟΚ.

Τα κυριότερα σημεία του προτεινόμενου μνημονίου συνεργασίας είναι τα εξής :

1) Μέσα σε 12 μήνες από την υπογραφή του μνημονίου συνεργασίας θα έχουν ολοκληρωθεί οι διαδικασίες ωρίμανσης μελετών, οι απαραίτητες εγκρίσεις και οι τελικές αδειοδοτήσεις του έργου. Υπάρχει η δυνατότητα παράτασης 4 μηνών, μόνο σε περίπτωση καθυστέρησης οποιασδήποτε εμπλεκόμενης αρχής.

2) Με το πέρας του παραπάνω χρονικού διαστήματος, συνεπαγόμενου και της τελικής έκδοσης οικοδομικής αδείας, θα ξεκινήσουν άμεσα οι εργασίες της κατασκευής του έργου, με εκτιμώμενο χρονικό διάστημα 3 ετών.

3) Υπάρχει σαφής πρόβλεψη αποζημίωσης, σε περίπτωση παραβίασης των όρων του μνημονίου συνεργασίας.

4) Η Νέα Τούμπα θα ανήκει στον ΑΣ ΠΑΟΚ, ο οποίος θα καταρτίσει σύμβαση με εταιρεία ειδικού σκοπού, που θα συσταθεί μετά από υπόδειξη της ΠΑΕ ΠΑΟΚ και θα έχει ως αντικείμενο την ανέγερση και την μερική εκμετάλλευση του νέου γηπέδου για 49 χρόνια.

5) Ο ΑΣ ΠΑΟΚ θα έχει την αποκλειστική χρήση χώρων, εμβαδού περίπου 7.300 τμ. Οι χώροι δύνανται να χρησιμοποιηθούν ως γραφεία, αθλητικές εγκαταστάσεις, χώροι υγειονομικού ενδιαφέροντος, κ.α.

6) Όλες οι απαραίτητες οικονομικές εγγυήσεις για την κατασκευή της Νέας Τούμπας, θα παρασχεθούν – όπως είναι αυτονόητο – κατά το χρόνο της ακριβούς τεκμηρίωσης της συνολικής κοστολόγησης του έργου, πριν από την εκκίνηση των εργασιών κατασκευής.

7). Κατάρτιση σύμβασης, που αφορά την πρόβλεψη, υπέρ του ΑΣ ΠΑΟΚ, σχετικών ανταλλαγμάτων από την εκκίνηση μέχρι και το πέρας των εργασιών. Ενδεικτικά, κάλυψη κόστους μετεγκατάστασης, εξασφάλιση λειτουργικών δαπανών στις νέες εγκαταστάσεις, πάγιο ετήσιο ποσό κ.α.

8 ) Συμμετοχή στην αρμόδια επιτροπή για την υλοποίηση του έργου, του εκπροσώπου του ΑΣ ΠΑΟΚ στο ΔΣ της ΠΑΕ ΠΑΟΚ

9) Εύρεση γηπέδου, το οποίο θα πληροί όλες τις απαιτούμενες προδιαγραφές κατά το διάστημα που θα μεσολαβήσει μέχρι την παράδοση της Νέας Τούμπας.

10) Τα μέρη συμφωνούν και δεσμεύονται ότι μέχρι το πέρας του χρονικού διαστήματος από την υπογραφή του παρόντος, όπως προαναφέρθηκε ανωτέρω, το παρόν μνημόνιο συνεργασίας είναι αποκλειστικό και δεσμευτικό για τα μέρη.

Σύμφωνα με το καταστατικό του ΑΣ ΠΑΟΚ, ζητάμε από το διοικητικό συμβούλιό του, να εγκρίνει το μνημόνιο συνεργασίας, και όλοι μαζί ενωμένοι, τα μέλη της μεγάλης οικογένειας του ΠΑΟΚ, να γιορτάσουμε στα γενέθλια των 100 χρόνων του συλλόγου μας, την έναρξη των εργασιών κατασκευής της Νέας Τούμπας“.
