Turks have Besiktas in Europa group stages as we have Tripolis... Hajduk are even money v Slovan...and Vojvodina slammed 4 in Genoa v Sampdoria...so anything is possible -
Greece country coefficient
RED SHERIFF replied to kolokotronis99tripoli's topic in Other Soccer Topics and Issues
we are essentially above the Czechs as Oly will get the bonus points for making the CL group stages...I was hoping the Czechs would also lose two teams today as they were on the brink... Interestingly the Dutch will lose the points from a huge season so they are essentially behind us at this point 12 months on... -

its similar to the salpi sympathizers... the guy can't get a game at PAOK with no Klaus,Lucas, Pereyra....yet the patriots are talking about 2009 and 2010

Europa Play-Offs PAO-Qabala 2nd leg 27/08/2015 21:00
RED SHERIFF replied to Lamiara ole's topic in Panathinaikos FC
PAO have not been 'that team' for a long time...yes the financial situation is not helping....and yes Oly has collected a fair few points in recent years.. but even in crisis times say since 2009..Aris,PAOK, Asteras have managed to collect a lot of points...the demise of PAO and AEK has caused us to slip no doubt... I would not see the 0-3 in Brugge as the end of greek football....Oly beat anderlecht 0-3 in Brussels 22 months ago... If you go over and look at some of the results throughout europe in the last 14 days...you will be scratching your head....and a better man than me if you made any sense of where countries leagues stand or if they are dipping or going up.,....some really bizarre results. -

actually Cyprus has gone backwards in the coefficient in the last 2-3 years...(poor start this season too) We definitely need points..but its not panic stations just yet.. The leagues just around us in the coefficient... Austria, Swiss, turkey, Croatia, Czechs have had a disastrous start this season...some have already lost clubs for this season... -
we are somehow good enough to beat Marseille , Man Utd, Dortmund, Lazio, Werder, Juve, Benfica and others...whilst these guys lose to part timers from obscure parts of the world and domestically can't be consistent against PAS, Platanias etc...yet it always points to corruption? The classic game was the Apollon v PAOK game 2 years ago...it finished 3-4..the score could have been anything..it was open and full of chances at either end for 95 mins....in hindsight had Apollon won they would have avoided relegation...but both clubs in the end seemed to want to blame us for their demise...yet thy hold their fate in their own hands..

South Melbourne Hellas
RED SHERIFF replied to Greekoz's topic in Australian Hyundai A League (ex NSL)
I think you are making a lot of this.....and being sucked in by the 'ethnic haters'.... the rivalry described between South and Oakleigh...and Green Gully and SGX ...Is no different to the rivalries that exist between clubs around the world...it's how hatred and rivalries began....there is no 'ethnic tensions' or 'politics based on race' in any of these... The Heidelberg slavophone comments are merely an interesting socio historical look at the birth and origins of this club...and as Greeks it's interesting to note how this club began... and by whom and how it changes... it also raises the question (from a purely Greek political/historical) point..not football...how there is an element of slavophone Greeks who can sit comfortably on either side of the skop debate without all the heat... I feel those AL diehards who scream at the thought of an ethnic club being within 100 km of a soccer conversation...have other motives and probably spend a lot of time reading Herald sun and listening to 3AW.... -
Portugal and the others will be ok.. so we leave or get kicked out...then what? stop taking in all the Russian propaganda....+
-
then the guys from the north last season also blame us.... they fail to look at the fact that whilst we are beating Juve, and Athletico .....they are losing to teams in Moldova...eliminated in the cup by Kavala...copping 3 and 4 from Xanthi, PAS, Asteras, Atromitos.....but somehow this is all our fault???

this is the 4th or 5th time PAO play v Brugge in Belgium over a 40 year period, and still have not managed to score a goal... so its not really a decline.....more of a poor consistent result... -
South Melbourne Hellas
RED SHERIFF replied to Greekoz's topic in Australian Hyundai A League (ex NSL)
I agree.... Oakleigh saw themselves as the new Greek Melbourne giant...after the demise of the NSL....There was a belief that South would fold and cease to exist.....add to it the fact that Oakleigh is now Melbourne's Greek centre....they feel as if they own 'Melbourne Greekness'... there is also a lot of jealousy and hatred towards South from a lot of Greeks who get too close to Port, Northcote, Heidelberg.. they see South as being arrogant or elitist.....just jealousy in my opinion... Some of us older guys know that the real rivalry between Hellas and Heidelberg is more political and intense....in the early days Heidelberg...were very strongly backed by Slav speaking Florina 'greeks'....almost borderline 'Preston' fans...some had family members at Preston... it was only after 1991 that Heidelberg forged a proper Greek identity amongst the core fan base....I have been told by former inner sanctum Heidelberg fans that a few Pontians tried to get on the board in the earlier days and were shown the door by slavophone Floriniotes. -
if Kougias 'FIXED' the issue one can only wonder how stubborn and stupid the others must have been...

Ioannis Fetfatzidis ‒ (Now Playing for Aris)
RED SHERIFF replied to js1000's topic in Greek Players Abroad
I have never doubted his worth to the NT....As the NT lacks the quick feet dribbling attacking player...especially against weaker opposition when we don't create enough chances.... osfp lack of youth development has no bearing on Fetfa's outcome...He was given chances by all coaches as were Vlaxodimos and Kolovos....these guys are not Osfp UCL quality...nor is Fetfa consistently enough... Mirallas, Abdoun, Afellay, Fuster etc and many others in the past few years...have come to play in the big games....the high pressing, high intensity, 'physical intent' that Valeverde, Jardim and Michel wanted to play v the big boys...does not fit in with Fetfa's DNA and skill set.....it's not part of a bigger osfp lack of youth development over 456 years issue.. -

will Salpi get much time this season? -
I just think the unseeded teams at the play off stage can be tricky....there are 'beatable' and 'dangerous' ties...given this is a weak 11..

and we had all the osfp haters telling us that we ruined his career??? he was very limited in his style and often he stymied our set up... osfp were lambasted for playing Kazim ahead of Fetfa...3 years on Kazim is playing in a higher level... osfp haters need to remove the coloured glasses. -
so you have replaced one crap keeper with another crap keeper? that is the depth of your signings.... and some periphery insignificant signings.....the team/squad looks much worse.... your starting 11 in the last three matches looks the same tired old dribble we have seen over the last 12 months...I call that no signings... you call that signings? and I'm the clown?

RED SHERIFF replied to kolokotronis99tripoli's topic in Other Soccer Topics and Issues
early signs are that Turkish, Swiss, Austrian teams are dropping matches..and are being eliminated (hopefully) early.... PAOK and PAO need to make group stages..... Atromitos will be unseeded in the play offs, so I don't fancy their chances...
