I agree... He is slow and not a great finisher....lacks strikers instinct.... not at the same level as Mitro and Klaus at GSL level...
-
Other than financial....I don't see the benefit in this post season holiday to a cold wintry Australia? I would rather be playing the Euro teams in May/June..... I don't have an issue with Luxembourg and Turkey....
-
	no chance
-
Aris got relegated twice in that period.... They had two good Euro runs..... one in 2007(did not make it out of their group though) and one in 2009/10...in the earlier part of this cycle they were abysmal.....and so to PAOK... I am focusing on the 2000-2004 period because that was the lead up to Euro 2004.....I assume you're argument is strong domestic clubs lead to euro 2004...PAO were strong..AEK had good players but were poorly run.. PAOK/AEK are much stronger clubs today.. On the field PAOK 2009-2015 is stronger than they were 1999-2007/
-
I am not sure if we have the best group in decades.... what I know is we have better footballers than Hungary, Finland, Northern Ireland, Romania Faroe islands, Albania, Israel, Norway, Cyprus, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Scotland,EIRE, Belarus, Armenia, Iceland, Latvia , Estonia,Lithuania, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan who ended up finishing higher than we did......................................
-
remember one theory that top European Managers put forward as to why Greece won Euro 2004 was that our foreign based players were very rested as they were not club regulars..? We now have many regulars in better leagues.
-
you make a 'general' point.... however.....factually you are off the mark in the sense that PAOK and Aris were terrible domestically and in Europe 2002-2004 PAOK were woeful in Europe and so to Aris..In fact Aris got relegated in 2002...

was Toro injured? so we have put the good display down to Samaris - Taxi and the mobility of Pelkas- Fortounis- Mandalos.. The questions I have.....Samaris at 26 has been average and poor at times .....So why the change? Was it a one off.. Taxi at 24 plays his best game...why not before? We/I have been screaming for years that this is the problem spot...I don't think we have solved it just yet.... Maybe Bouchalakis is another option moving forward... Mandalos-Pelkas- Fortounis....none are naturally wide players?....So they out played Hungary 2015 not 1958. I think aek66 makes a valid point.......Samaris-Taxi allowed the other 3 to excel...... However are these players better than Kone, Fetfa, Lazaros, Ninis?? It's a good dilemma to ponder before our next game... I have no doubt that K.Pap, Manolas would sure up anything we saw in defence that was scary.
-
that is my point... regarding the quality of the GSL being a factor...Other than PAO...Who were a power with class footballers, overall the league is better than it was in the period 2000-2004...AEK had better players then ,but were bankrupt and had a nut job for a president...they were in disarray off the field. OSFP are much better, so to are PAOK..On and off the field... I am not saying the league is where we want it to be....but there was some really horrible clubs around in that era.....Ethnikos asteras, Ionikos, Athinaikos, Paniliakos, Elefsina, Trikala.Kalamaria, Akratitos, Thrasyvoulos, etc etc... The domestic league of Cyprus does not equate to Cyprus NT (with Charalambides, Charalambou, Aloneftis all in their mid 30s) supported by a cast of nobodies achieve 400% more points than Greece.
-
How do you explain Cyprus with 35yo ex GSL rejects getting 400% more points than us in a much harder group? Cyprus talent pool is not on the same planet as Greece, neither is Hungary and Iceland....
-
i think he will go a mixture.... ...............karnezis..................... toro........tzanetopoulos....sokratis......holebas .................samaris........taxi........... ......................fortounis............ kone.................................aravidis ...................mitro...................... with Mandalos coming on in the second half
-
Diamantakos at 22 is playing in the German second division...and not scoring...... Bouchalakis has the type of playing style we need in the position we are most hurting..pity he got injured at the wrong time....Petsos is also one that needs to be looked at... so in the 23 and under age group we have k.pap, oikonomou, Tzanetopoulos, fortounis, pelkas, diamantakos, kapino, kitsiou, fountas, giannotas, lagos, ioannidis, kourbelis, mavrias, karelis, any others of possible note?
-
So we continue to 'produce' CD..... Oikonomou and now Tzanetopoulos join the long list.. Sokratis,K.Pap. Manolas,Siovas,Moras..... the midfield we can rattle off 10 + names...but still can't get a combination that is functional....(Samaris,Taxi,Kone, Mandalos, Pelkas, Fortounis, Bouchalakis, Petsos, Ninis,Lazaros) However regarding strikers we are very bare.....
-
The lack of urgency and lack of intensity is glaringly obvious.... There is no doubt that in the first 30 mins of this match that one could see that the Greeks were the better 'footballers' and why they play for bigger clubs... but they approach the task as if it's the first session of pre season...walking pace, strolling around the pitch...Mitro's attitude was appalling... no pressure on the defence.... Tziolis should never play again..... Samaris needs a spell on the bench.... Not sure what Karelis purpose is? I would like to see Bouchalakis (when fit and playing) get a game next to Fortounis and Taxi.... I am not sure who the two wide players should be? Kone? Lazaros? Fetfa? Maybe Mavrias if he finds a club and form.. As for Mitro and Klaus the new coach needs to put a rocket up them...Or drop them..
-
I recall (on the other site) several posters a few years ago. Wanting Tsanas as our NT coach....given his good record with u21 and u19...and being Greek

EL-GS-R2: PAOK FC - Borussia Dortmund (01-Oct-15, 22:05 GR)RED SHERIFF replied to Blackhawk's topic in PAOK FC yes...it's a 'new team'.....unfortunately all greek teams are 'new teams each year'... it's a huge problem... I don't think it's a very young team age wise in footballing terms.....Costa,Tziolis, Berbatov are all over 30..... Tzavellas, Klaus, Jairo, Vitor, Kace, Rodriquez, Mak,Skondras,Olsen,Malezas,Sabo are all hardened European professionals who have played at level for many seasons... who age wise are in their prime.

EL-GS-R2: PAOK FC - Borussia Dortmund (01-Oct-15, 22:05 GR)RED SHERIFF replied to Blackhawk's topic in PAOK FC watching the game.....the goal came totally against the run of play....at that point in time a PAOK goal looked very unlikely....that's what I meant by unexpected....PAOK looked out of their depth...this is not a criticism but an obvious observation...
-
EL-GS-R2: PAOK FC - Borussia Dortmund (01-Oct-15, 22:05 GR)RED SHERIFF replied to Blackhawk's topic in PAOK FC it was a case of capitalising on one chance totally against the run of play....totally unexpected goal really......PAOK were sadly several levels below Dortmund in overall play....out of their depth in most aspects of the game....
-
EL-GS-R2: PAOK FC - Borussia Dortmund (01-Oct-15, 22:05 GR)RED SHERIFF replied to Blackhawk's topic in PAOK FC no....Dortmund were classes above.....not in the same universe really.. however, PAOK copped a cheap goal and could have caught Dortmund on the break with Jairo late on..

Arsenal-Olympiakos(29 September 2015, Emirates Stadium, London)RED SHERIFF replied to Omonoia9's topic in Olympiacos FC they are different.. however I am curious what he thinks is the best combination for the midfield-wide-forward positions.
-
Arsenal-Olympiakos(29 September 2015, Emirates Stadium, London)RED SHERIFF replied to Omonoia9's topic in Olympiacos FC Seba was poor.... the whole Seba, Hernani, Durmaz puzzle is interesting ? how the coach gets this right... so to the midfield...Luka, Chori, Fortounis, Bouchalakis, Kasami, Cambiasso?
-
Arsenal-Olympiakos(29 September 2015, Emirates Stadium, London)RED SHERIFF replied to Omonoia9's topic in Olympiacos FC we have no chance... how can a team that has strikers that can't score and a midfield that has only played together once (in a makeshift capacity) add a CD duo of Botia and Siovas, have any chance v one of the best teams in the world?
