  1. does it matter? they wont be able to assemble much sooner anyway.... best to wait until all club commitments are clear for the week, in case of injuries.....and form..
  2. they paid 10 million for him.....he turns 27 before the next season.....there's not much margin in that formula to make money from a player that we really don't know if he is a no.6 or no.8?
  3. yeah...don't think the venue had much to do with it.... I also remember losses to Slovakia and Cyprus at venues that looked like State league 3
  4. Samaris was a late starter he is 26...turns 27 before the WC qualifiers start.... he will become well rounded at Benfica.....and be an asset...
  5. I more concerned about all the away friendlies ...I chose Harilaou and AEL Arena for specific reasons...in this crucial point.. I don't have an issue with a packed Karaiskaki or OAKA rocking and we have the opponent on the back foot scrambling and the stadium pumping.. I am wary of having the NT become 'homeless' and become a traveling roadshow playing in front of 2500 at Platanias etc.. happened around 15-20 years ago when the NT played at some obscure venues....... from kalamata to Thraki....and some other odd ball locations...it looked like I was watching D division...
  6. I would just be happy if he scored v Luxembourg first..
  7. there is much about Tsanas not to like.... however he has been the 'mastermind' behind our under age NT success for many years.....so he knows young greek talent and has achieved excellent results... many here have had a long standing view that greece has good underage talent but this gets lost at a certain age...(for many reasons)...If the Tsanas/Skibbe link helps this by 5% we are on a winner.
  8. i would like the NT to schedule a few home friendlies at venues like AEL Arena and Harilaou.....nice boutique football stadiums with good atmosphere...a good opportunity for Skibbe and the players to reconnect the NT with the people... it will help bring back passion a and soul to the team's mental approach in matches..
  9. EPO have also announced the Turkey game on their site
  10. If you are trying to offend me because you think I am australian, 'you' are mistaken.. I live in Melbourne and was born in Australia....'you' can have a go at australia...I do not get offended, as I don't have an australian bone in my body...well not a 'patriotic' one... however...greece could do much worse than follow elements of the australian political/economic/ business friendly framework.. the Che Guevara greek rebel has killed Greece... and no one else..
  11. we have enough talent to finish second in the group... what he needs to instill in the team is confidence and passion.... I think he will play a basic formation...... our best 11...best 14..best 18 essentially pick themselves...so there is no rocket science required... its the confidence, belief, passion, focus on results that he needs to pass on to the players... toro, holebas, k.pap, sokratis, manolas, fortounis, karnezis, taxi, samaris, mitroglou, kone will be the core of the team in the initial stages...5 of them speak german...add to it petsos, klaus. tzavellas (depending on what he thought about him at Eintracht)..
  12. the greeks were happy with the system they created and whilst they were benefiting...it was happy days.... ND, PASOK etc are creations of the lao...just acronyms they mean nothing just as SYRIZA.. We failed because we thought we knew best...not because of the IMF.EU or the 'wealthy'..
  13. petsos will be in the squad....Can't see him in the 11 ahead of Taxi or Samaris
  14. I think you are barking up the wrong tree if you think Greece needs a revolutionary 'Che' type as leader.. this 'ideological mindset' is a string Greek trait, that has kept us going backwards for 40 years.. there are NO FASCISTS, in power... You sound like you have been hanging around Greek universities singing viva assylo
  15. because it's a typical negative greek attitude... anyway........ If Oly are GSL champions....they will be the highest seeded team in the 'champions route'.... along with probably Celtic, Dinamo, Austrian champs, Czech champs....or APOEL so......... they will end up in a play off v a team like BATE, Astana, Israeli team, Partizan.....Malmo....or a lot worse.....I would fancy Oly more often than not from here to qualify...
  16. I was there at MVFC v OSFP.... The point was that from a Greek NT fan perspective it does not matter to me who we play... I was also at the MCG in 2006 ...terrible flat atmosphere with 90k....the MCC /AFL theater goers kill it...the 'whole 'Melbourne events' concept should just keep to organising AFL Grand final parades...and Grand Prix.
  17. i have an interest in the socceroos....but don't 'support' them....whether they win or lose....it does not bother me....my interest is in 'general' terms about Aussie soccer...without the 'care factor'...
  18. I rate Leckie....he may be suited to a wide spot.....Bulut is not seeing the park at Iraklis and Naumoff is way to early to know.....
  19. The aussies like to cap players all the time and add to the stable..... I would be curious to see where he fits.....yes Cahill is nearly 40...Kruse is very good but always injured and a different type of forward.. Tomi Juric is the other player...then that is it..... As we have all said he/we/all understand that he will not get a start ahead of Mitro and Klaus.....(rightly so)....he turns 26 in January.. so his only chance at NT play is in the next 2 years to stake his claim.......Neither Greece or Australia will be banging on his door post WC 2018..When he will be 28-29...
  20. so are you going to see Australia or Greece? ...and don't say both? And this is not a chest beating patriotic question.. what I mean is that if Greece were to play in Melbourne, my level of interest to pay money and attend would be the same whether they played Australia/Bolivia/ Germany/Gibraltar.....
  21. we have all been screaming out and wanting new Greek attacking players... however for most of us giannou has never been rated highly or worthy? for largely valid reasons.. are we now talking about him because of his start with Asteras or are we scared the aussies may trump us?
  22. Panos and Ikonomidis are still very young...I have never seen Panos play, but Kris looks promising. you can't compare the ACL with anything remotely we see in UCL/Europa....The depth and quality are on different planets... Giannou is behind Mitro and Klaus...so at 26 his chances are limited......
  23. why wont both games be v Australia?
  24. no doubt there will be little interest from the Greeks in Melbourne compared to 2006
  25. melbourne is bloody cold in june....
