We disagree with the majority of this statement. Before his injury, Galanopoulos was the only Greek midfielder with the ability to play in the 8 role. He's certainly not the same player as Kourbelis, as he has a much larger propensity to get forward and has a larger volume of through balls, downfield longballs, and overall vision. It doesn't take much for a player to be more technical than Zeca, his value is in his work rate. We've seen Mantalos played in a deeper role both for Aek and the National team, it's not great. He's much more effective further up the pitch. There's a reason why he's the Super league assist leader and also leads the Super League in "Major scoring opportunities created/Smart passes", both in volume and on a per 90 min. Although we would agree that Fortounis may be a better CAM, as he has better dribbling ability, but Mantalos is also a solid CAM as well. The dual CAM midfield we used with Fortounis/Bakasetas with a lone DM was very interesting and could be the recipe for success for us against smaller sides and we would be better off than forcing yet another player out of position.

Agreed. We also need to hopefully find that finishing touch. All those chances but not being able to finish them with a goal will cost us big time. Just like the 2004 team started to show special signs during qualification on 2003, I am hoping the same happens this time. We definitely have some young talents....

Well said. There is nothing wrong with acknowledging the fact that we have a tough group but to trash talk the team with emojis and irony is beyond me. We all want the same thing in the end, which is for Hellas to make the world cup. One can be positive or negative. I choose to be critical when need be but in a positive way.

I think we also play up to our opposition. We played Belgium tough in both games in 2018 when they were the number 1 team. Anything is possible - the key is to solidify our defense now as we won't be dominating possession as have been used to. On the other side, we finally have guys who are fast who can create chances on the sides. These games won't be as closed as we have played the last few times.

I don’t think it’s completely hopeless, Will it be difficult? 100% it will. Can JVS Continue with the same line up against these teams? Short answer No. But m not going to be like that clown @Torontobluewho comes on hear and just trolls everyone like a clown putting up laughing emojis everywhere.. Are chances high that we finish 2nd? No, Obviously Sweden are favoured to take second but is it an impossible task? I don’t think so. But let’s see what happens. Maybe being in such a difficult group may force JVS to call on Manolas and finally put Fortounis in the middle and sit Bakasetas.. You never know.. JVS is happy the way the team is adapting to his style of play but in his mind after seeing the team play in Nations league he has to think if he fields the same line up against so much better competition there is no chance of advancing. Maybe this will force him to finally make the much needed changes.

Heard the show earlier today. I enjoyed the segment on the NT and the wcup draw. A few of the hosts are not to optimistic of our chances to progress. One of the guys liked our chances of taking 2nd place from Sweden. Good questions from the listeners too.. Keep up the good work!

JVS needs to learn from what happened in the UNL and build on our strengths. Unless Bakakis picks up from, he cannot be playing for the Ethniki. We need to move on from Bakasetas, make better of the CM positions, I’m not a fan of Zeca-Kourbelis combo in games we need to win. Stafylidis can not be part of this, need a good partner next to Hatzidiakos, this is where Manolas or Siovas would have been great. I wouldn’t mind seen two strikers at some point. Tzolis needs to feature, as does Fortounis

While they may have clinched, they may use the last game to test players who haven't played. Those guys will be eager to impress and earn a spot on the WC team. Spain has a lot of depth.

I think you mean Rodrigo. His injury wasn't serious, but I doubt he will play. I think him and Vieirinha will take it easy and see if they can be ready for Sunday's game.

Έτυχε να δω κάποια ευρωπαϊκά παιχνίδια του συμπολίτη, -για να κάνω παρέα σε ένα φιλαράκι- αλλά τούτο δεν λέει τίποτε. Και τελευταίος να ήταν ένας από τους δύο αυτούς αντιπάλους το Ελ Κλάσικο παραμένει πάντα το ντέρπι της πόλης. Και φυσικά εμπίπτει στην λογική όλων των ντέρμπι όπως όλα τα άλλα. Οι "αναλυτές" θα μας πουν πως κατά 80% το ματς πάει στο Χ με μικρότερες πιθανότητες στον άσο από ότι το διπλό. Αυτή όμως είναι και η στραβή στο ματς. Όλα δείχνουν ισοπαλία, αλλά αρκεί η μία εκείνη στιγμή, που θα γίνει η γκέλα και η τύχη θα χαμογελάσει σε ένα από τους δύο. Δεν θα μπω στη λογική του ματς, γιατί πολύ απλά τα ντέρμπι δεν έχουν "λογική". Croatia was a really good team and it showed at the world cup. Funny, this is the first time in awhile I am more worried about our defense than I am about creating chances. I feel Bakakis will get ripped apart if he starts. The other thing is I would like to see how we stand against quality opposition. Our last test against quality opposition was against Austria and we should have won. I would love to see Manolas/Siovas as the CBs, Fortounis at AM, Tziolis on the wing, Galanopoulos (if fit) over one of Kourbelis/Zeca, and somebody else other than Bakakis/Mavrias at RB (it has to be a legit rb and not a converted cb). Hopefully that isn't too much to ask for....

Oh yeah, good point. I don't see why that's something to be proud of, though. You either qualify, or you don't.

That will be key As Greece can not afford to drop one single point to either Georgia or Kosovo, if they do they are done as I don’t see Sweden getting anything but wins against those teams. Also we need to realize this won’t be anything like the nations league where we had majority of possession as Spain we know but Sweden will control more of the ball so we better shore up our defence and put the best possible players available if we want the best chance at taking points from Sweden. I’m games against Sweden and Spain you know you will have guys back so your hoping to catch something on the counter attack.

Καλησπέρα παιδιά στην κιτρινινόμαυρη παρέα. Δυστυχώς το φοβάμαι πολύ το παιχνίδι αυτό. Τουλάχιστον στοιχηματικά, αφού η απόδοση του 1 πήγε στο ..... 7.00 και το διπλό του ΟΣΦΠ στο 1.45. Είμαστε λίγο καλύτερα στις αποδόσεις από το Λαμία-ΠΑΟΚ. Αυτό που με πειράζει περισσότερο είναι ΑΝ χάσουμε, αυτό να γίνει πολεμώντας και όχι ως υποχείρια του ΟΣΦΠ. Εκτός αν θέλουμε να είμαστε ένα μαγαζάκι. Εγώ πάντως μας πιστεύω και τον 1 τον έπαιξα. Από αγωνιστικής πλευράς θα συμφωνήσω απόλυτα στην επιθετική άμυνα με Μπερτόγλιο στο κέντρο, Γκάμα-Ματέο στα άκρα και Σίλβα κορυφή.

JVS has tried to get him. EPO reached out to him and he said he would be interested. Apparently there were huge administrative hurdles and it seems unlikely that there will be able to be resolved. Zeca was straight forward because he lived in Greece for 7 years. He speaks Greek fluently and he says he feels Greek. He passed all the language test and relevant history exam necessary for citizenship. If you see him, he sings the national anthem along the other players, maybe louder. I have no problem with him being called up.
