Greece should be up 1-0 and not down 1-0. Masouras goal should have stand, it was a tight one, but I firmly believe he is onside, otherwise blow the whistle dead if the refs suspect he was offside. What a BS penalty that was! The Spanish player went down like as if he was shot! Giannoulis was trying to clear the ball and it barely gazed the player.

I could not see anything in that penalty? Spain are dominating but FIFA want to make sure Spain don’t miss a World Cup.

The games that sealed our fate were the two ties against Georgia and Kosovo.

If Sweden loses today and we beat Spain, the only way forward is if we beat Kosovo and Spain and Sweden tie or Spain loses to Sweden. That way Spain will end up with 13 or 14 points and we will end up with 15 in second for the playoff spot. Any other scenario ends with Greece tying Sweden with 15 points each and they would go thru on GD.

Ya that's why our only chance is to beat Spain and hope Spain lose or draw against Sweden the last game.

Yup... At the end of the day it all comes down to if we can get 3 points today. Nothing else really matters at this point.

Honestly we need a miracle to pull this off, and it doesn't really matter in my opinion whos out for Spain as their C squad is better then most of our starters. If JVS plays Tsimikas at CB he's a complete idiot. Let's just pray Spain doesn't score and somehow we can find a late miracle goal from somewhere or come out with an very early goal before Spain can settle into there style. The problem with Greece sitting back and only getting a few chances all game is that it wont be enough as our scoring per shots taken percentage is very low.

Sorry for the rant but I also dying to say this, and notice no one else did. tzavellas has been very consistent this campaign however, he received an IDIOTIC second yellow which kept him out of the Sweden game where he ABSOLUTELY would have made a difference. I blame him heavily for our loss to Sweden for his inability to control his temper. I realize we shouldn’t have relied so much on that game and should have handled business agains Kosovo and Georgia. But we didn’t.. and we needed him and he left us hanging. obviously Sweden and Spain games back to back we’re not ideal either because we knew the sweden game would be a dog fight and we suffered a lot of yellows leaving us with even less depth for the Spain game

It sucks but I don’t mind missing out on a World Cup in a dump like Qatar. I’ll be devastated if we miss out on USA/Canada 2026 though as it’s one most of us on here would be likely to attend.

If I was JVS I'd just throw in every offensive player possible. We have nothing to lose now.

We need to chase the game, I would be hooking Giannoulis and subbing on Tzolis. Push Tsimikas to left back and go to a 4-3-3 with Mantalos playing as a pure attacking mid, Tzolis/Masouras out wide and Pavlidis down the middle. Beyond that Bouchalakis isn't built for a game like this too much pace and pressure from Spain for him to be effective. Alexandropoulos is probably the only option but it's basically impossible that JVS does that. Demoralizing that penalty, really Spain created 1.5 good chances and neither was the penalty.

So we get an iffy offside call against us that calls back the goal and then Spain gets a gift penalty. What a joke.

TBH we did not deserve the win vs Georgia but we were up a goal in the 75th minute. Had we got those wins and at least a draw last game vs Sweden then 1st place would have been attainable.

Georgia are playing well and are tough at home. I said here that they always seem to get results at end of qualification. Sweden are fortunate they beat us last time out. Let’s hope we can pull out a win!
