I honestly believe our players backed out a little in the 2nd half fearing injury, vellios wanted to smash one of the Aussie defenders, one of the commentators said at half time that if if was a serious match Australia may have received a few red cards, don't get me wrong we commited lots of fouls as well but they were actually smashing our players. The last 10-15 minutes were a hell of a lot more comfortable then I expected. I'm really glad we won this game because the pedigree of our players is just so much higher then the aussies, we put them in their place, if we just had that one extra creative outlet like fourtounis to pick out the right pass we could have had a huge win.

Who was saying australia is a good team? They should beat us? Stop listening to fox sports and ausyralian media hype. Australia is junk. Greece needs work off the park and inside epo to become a decent team. We have some good cattle but we dont have spirit and belief simple. Christodopoulos is done. Need to keep working with fringe players and hope players like mavrias, mystakidis, foundas can develop along with guys like vellios, mandalos, bakasetas to bread some new players. We have 5 - 7 solid players but a good side in world cup and euro canpaings needs alot more.

Of course we are behind, we ended up in the ass end of the world lol, people in Greece think we are stuck in a 1970s time warp, we get sucked into these rubbish intra city rivalries like it means anything. Who gives a stuff how many people turned up to an airport or a training session, only we would bicker over something so trivial.

Greece slowed in the 2nd half, but never waivered from the win. You could see Scibbe urging the team towards the end of the game. In our last 7 matches, we have scored 2 or more goals in four of them. Another good sign.

I don't think Australia got in our half of the pitch in the opening 10 minutes and we could have been 3-0 up after 20 minutes if Holebas scores. Aussies were never allowed to play their game and were clearly frustrated. I think that's a good sign, that we are maturing as a team.

Im from melbourne and i tend to be the opposite. I like to back up and protect my fellow greeks from sydney, adelaide, ny, toronto etc. We are ALL the SAME and these clowns have to make it all about themselves. Maybe this is cos im getting older but they come across as very childish. Its not about being better, its about being a united greek diaspora. A lot of what they say reeks of greek cafe talk in melb and chest beating about how we are better than everyone. Its a joke. They crossed the line when they bagged out fellow greeks. And then crossed it further with that ridiculous post match rant on the team. I wanted to post something on their page but thought better of it cos they would just end up attacking me.

The hellas fan club of melbourne are arrogant and at times an awful look for the greek community. No need for them to bag out sydney greeks last week. None of them went to the airport either and at most 100 people were at the training session and the majority would not have been from them. The melbourne wing of hfc needs to pull its head in and stop living off that one night 10 years ago, a night that easily would have been replicated in sydney and other parts of the world. They just come across as show offs. Word on the street is tonights match will struggle to beat sydneys crowd. But greeks from the rest of the country wont ridicule. Hope the march goes well and doesnt descend into chaos. As for the aussie greeks calling up radio stations...stuff them and their self hating ways. Whilst im at it fcuk the ffa who tried to rort our community with absurd ticket prices..not the pay day these malakes were hoping for.

OS it's a pretty argument and I wouldn't stoop down to that level. Credit to the Sydney crowd. I was filled with pride towards the end of the game when the active area went nuts with the singing and flags. Showed up the rest of the crowd. Credit to everyone who met them at the airport too.

Mantalos is quality. Just as I said we just need a quality CAM in there like Mantalos, Fortounis, Ninis, Fetfa and we have a chance to beat anyone really. I wish we could've played our best 11ada so we could've smoked them 3-0.

It's good to get a win against an opponent that never treats friendly matches as a friendly but like Mark Bosnich said, Australia is not at the level of quality teams (yet). He said that Greece isn't a Germany, France, Belgium, England or Brazil, but they are still better than Australia as Australia has only had 1 win against the elite teams and something like 6 losses and 1 draw. That draw was against Germany in Germany. Four days later they then traveled to Yugoslavia to play Monkeydonija and drew 0-0. So that's the reality of the Socceroos. We should be beating this team and this group of players. We need to have our best players fit and organised against Holland and Russia or we will be embarrassed but for team moral and psyche tonight was good.

Some positives to take out of the game for sure. Bakestas had some nice touches, hopefully he can cement a spot in AEK's starting XI and have a big season. Maniati's goal, wow I didn't think he had that in him. That goal will go down in Greek football history! Our pressing was good and I was surprised we lasted till late in the game doing it. Interesting to see if that's the tactics we go with come WC qualifiers. Samaris, Stafylidi, Sokrati and Mantalos amongst our best

I agree 100%. He wanted to go to Deportivo. We were just a means for him to get out of the Ukraine where he was MISERABLE. He never had an interest in playing for us, and when he was playing for us, he was mediocre at best. He gained confidence in Spain and is now a stud. I think we're pretty much in agreement on everything, lol. I feel like Mak gained his confidence at PAOK. Let's not forget, he was in Bundesliga for 4 years, and came to us when his team got relegated and he's a Manchester City prospect. It's not like he's some scrub we plucked from the slums of Latin America.

Mak clearly has enjoyed himself at PAOK more than Lucas did. Lucas also had a habit of being terrified during big games (which is why Vukic played so much towards the end of the season - and thank God we had him).

I just think for pride and confidence. Can't go to Australia to play the same team twice and lose both times. That and the fact that this team has to remember how to win. Wins have been in short supply since we got back from Brazil.

Having grown up in Australia, I can tell you that they are aggressive but if you stand up and give it back to them, they are cowards.

I read an article 3 months ago that for me depicted australia. Its the australian thing to do to drink coffee in the morning. That was the headline and then the article went on how austrakia has the best coffee in the world like the media professes everything australia has is the best in the world. Brother, what's changed in 5000 years? Greeks have been feuding for all of civilization. Athenians have hated the Macedonians. Spartans despised the Athenians etc etc. You'd think we would have civilized ourselves after all these millennia.

He definitely changed as a player as a result of the loan spell to Deportivo. When he was with us, there were glimpses, but only glimpses. At the beginning of this season, he really looked levels above the rest of the forwards.

Greekoz that's the best thing iv read and on point with everything, as you said there is no need for anyone to bag anyone we are ALL GREEKS, but there has always been thing Melb vs Syd rivalry, personally us Sydney people really don't give a s%$#! and don't buy into but Melb take it to another level and after talking it up all last week then bagging Sydney siders they deserve to be thrashed..... I still rate him as a manager, in terms of his tactical nous and how to set up a team. Unfortunately his personality gets in the way. If we only had Greek players in PAOK that happened to also be religious, this guy could win us a league.
