Copa America Centenario - USA 2016

Recommended Posts

Well that was a shitty ending to the US/Colombia match. Both teams down to ten men. Poor all around. Looking forward to Chile/Argentina, should be a good one.

Klinsmann is right about one thing - the US players are coddled and are too afraid to get physical.

really poor reaction by messi.

At 29, he should go the next WC....Then give it up..

I can imagine by 31 ..he may have had enough of Copa America...but worth another WC tilt..

Messi misses 22% of PKs (which is actually worse than Ronaldo). But, just like Ronaldo with free kicks, he still takes them in these vital situations. Why? Ego. He's not a martyr, and there's really no need to make excuses for his failure rate. If he wants to stop playing for his NT, then he can stop that too. He doesn't owe anyone. If his teammates want him back bad enough, they can drop to their knees and ask nicely, too.

I'm referring to Messi's PK record, and his insistence on taking them is similar to Ronaldo's insistence on taking free kicks.

Some guys have made good points on Messi but fact is a TRUE footballer will always continue to hunt for trophies. Everyone bags Ronaldo yet he gives it his all when playing so he can win trophies and he doesn't have half the talent in his team that Messi has.

Messi took the easy way out and like I have always said, he will now be remembered as the best club player ever, nothing more.

Ronaldo has made 1 final at that was at a young age when we made him cry yet time after time he still represents Portugal proudly.

Maybe those who bag Ronaldo can now throw some at Messi too, for me he is a coward for retiring, but something tells me he will be in Russia.

Plenty of footballers do cocaine as it leaves the body system within 3 days, easiest drug to take and not get caught, well that's  unless you are Maradona and you have a kilo of it a day

Hope he comes back revitalised after a kind of sabbatical with no travelling back and forth to Argentina. And no media harassing him.

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE, AMORGIGGLES? Do we really need a 200th post from Pana saying why?

Pana the blame will always be on Messi as he is regarded the best player in the world, same with Ronaldo when Portugal fail.

Baggio took Italy to WC finals too doesn't mean anything when you don't rise to the occasion in the final, that's where the big players get their recognition.

I don't see how the whole team was at fault for losing each final though, in last 2 Copa America finals, Argentina's defence didn't concede a goal so to say the whole team is at fault is wrong, defence did their job the front line didn't. Its the old saying defence wins you titles, attackers win you matches.

We had another mass shooting in the US, this time in Las Vegas, the deadliest of its kind, until the next one of course. Our right to be safe is trampled by the right for someone to own military-grade weapons.
We had hoped that after the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, Congress would act to pass some federal gun safety laws. Nothing!  The victims' stories and pictures in Vegas are beginning to circulate now. I'll leave you with the images of the children of Sandy Hook as a horrific reminder that how a political party and its leaders are essentially in the pocket of the gun lobby.

      Friends,
It's been a week since the US general election, and a new page in American politics has started. Let's put the other thread to rest, because it escalated into personal attacks, so let's respectfully discuss the new president's tenure and related matters here.
Let's remind ourselves that the point of this forum is to welcome a diversity of people and ideas, and to have a good time, even when we disagree with others; and, it'll be fun, because we'll be having a civilized discussion, right?...
So, president-elect Trump....  We'll be watching but who can say what he'll actually do? How do you judge his first moves and statements?

Pentagon Officials Allowed Workers to Use Government Credit Cards at Strip Clubs

The initial 2015 audit discovered that workers spent nearly $100,000 at various strip clubs and related adult-oriented establishments, which kinda sounds like nothing when compared with the estimated $1 million spent at casinos. As for how exactly such charges are allowed to exist, the report's findings suggest that Defense Travel Management Office officials and DoD management did not properly explain how the travel cards should be used. Furthermore, DoD officials were not adequately trained on how to discipline those found to have misused the cards. For the complete rundown, read the full report right here.

Thoughts? I think some form of campaign finance reform should be seriously considered.
