plato-ny
if/when we qualify, don't we automatically get placed with the hosts since we are champions The last Euro had Portugal as the host and France as the defending champ and they weren't in the same group... Morphi
Some of you have put Italy together with Greece which is technically impossible. The Swiss and the Austrians will be in the first pot as host countries. Same applies for Greece as they have won the last Euro. Italy will be surely the last team in the first pot as they have won the WC.

dark_horse
Its a joke. Hosts and Holders should get automatic qualification. Excatly! In basketball, Greece qualifyes directly to Eurobasket 2007 as European Champions, why not do it in football? :gr: :gr:
8ypa7
i think it is better to go through the qualifying stage because we get much needed practice
dark_horse
i think it is better to go through the qualifying stage because we get much needed practice Well now, not many Greek fans would have thought about that. It's cool though. We're lucky not to be drawn in Group A or Group B. We don't need anymore of those 'group of death' variety like in the World Cup qualifyer 2 years ago. :)
jarvis1981
If Greece qualifies one thing is for sure..... They will have a target on their back as everyone would want to defeat THE DEFENDING CHAMPIONS.

Italy will be surely the last team in the first pot as they have won the WC. So it's true what you said. Italy would not be playing in Euro 2008 from where they stand so far, they are in 3rd place ( Group B ). England is in 3rd as well (Group E), Portugal is in 4th (Group A) and Spain in 5th (Group F). Can you imagine Euro 2008 without those 4 nations? That would be a hugh shocker! :D

In basketball, Greece qualifyes directly to Eurobasket 2007 as European Champions, why not do it in football? :gr: :gr: It's simple:In Basketball we are actually feared as being one of the best sides in the world. :box: In football we are a rabble and a joke that loses to the Koreas and Australias and can't beat Saudi Arabia cuz we have an abalo and andrikelo moulari for a manager! AI GAMIS0U OTTO-MAN! WE DON'T DESERVE AUTOMATIC QUALIFICATION! :nono:

plato-ny
The current pots according to contra.gr Pot 1 Austria, Swiss, Greece, Holland Pot 2 Croatia, Germany, Italy, Czech Pot 3 England, Portugal, Sweden, Poland Pot 4 Romania, France, Spain, Turkey England, Portugal, Turkey have not officially passed yet
AEK-MTL
So how does it work exactly? Is it one team from each pot in each group (i.e. group 1 would consist of a team from pot 1, pot 2, pot 3, and pot 4) ?
HOLLYWOOD
wtf is the point in being in pot 1 when the other pots look much stronger?? e.g Pot 2, Pot 4... if we examine each pot; this in my opinon how it goes: Pot 1: Holland is the only superpower team, whilst the rest i.e Greece, Austria, Swiss would be reguarded as medi-core Pot 2: Germany, Italy, Czech r all superpower teams, whilst croatia is medicore Pot 3: England, Sweden and Portugal r sort off super power whilst poland r medi-core Pot 4: France n Spain r superpower teams; romania n turkey r medicore If anything Pot 1 is the weakest in reguards to fiffa world ranking... i would much rahter be in pot 2 n avoide Croatia, Germany, Italy, Czech... HOLLYWOOD
if i understood everything correctly; i hope croatia draw or wins while perhaps for us to lose; wouldnt be a bad choice if we can be seeded in pot
