Kirgiakos on the move?

Have just read a report in the Glasgow Evening Times that Rangers have offered Sotiris a 2.5 year deal at Ibrox. Everton, Southampton and Portsmouth are all reported to be interested.

Is he out of contract at the end of the season?

yes this was a very stupid decision by vardinoyianis, he couldve waited a little bit and get more money later instead of being greedy, and he is also very dumb for goin to a weaker team and weaker league but everyone knows money is the decidng factor in today's world

Finally some Greeks coming here. Been rumoured for some time!! Rangers are a masive club, they have the best training facilities in euroipe (22 stadiu, not like 2 in your overhyped redis), have a greta history, many hardocre fans and always play in front of 50,000. Kiriakos is honna help em do better and relace boumsong perfectly. He's just gonnae love it here. And show hose beggar strikers what the deal is.

hell love his check, hate the weather and the lack of competition. he will also hate HIMSELF when hes 40 and realizes what he could have done with his career. Rangers blow........they play against 1 team all season and the rest are filika........and in europe they are the worst team that has money.....OSFP and Fener are way better even in europe!

Toffees look to Greece

by Fotis Voinikas - created on 16 Jan 2005

Everton boss David Moyes, armed with money to spend following the sale of Thomas Gravesen to Real Madrid and Wayne Rooney's departure last season, is understood to be looking to Greece for a potential target.

Panathinaikos defender Sotiris Kyrgiakos has been informed of interest from both Everton and Celtic following a meeting with club directors on Friday.

The 25-year-old has qualities that suggest he could adapt to life in England or Scotland.

As an imposing centre back, the Pana star has impressed after being sidelined with injury last season.

A recall to the Greece squad in November was just reward for his form and Moyes is said to have been alerted by Krygiakos's displays in the two UEFA Champions League games against Premiership champions Arsenal.

The giant stopper has a year left on his contract but Panathinaikos are unlikely to turn down a sizeable bid.

Although defending is his forte, he notched two goals in the 5-1 win against OFI Crete at Apostolos Nikolaidis on Sunday.

A centre back would not appear to be Moyes's priority this month but he is known to be looking at strengthening his squad in a number of areas.

We don't even have to buy a new player.. We have Kotso, Gouma and Henriksen who are all very good!!!!

I agree, for now we dont need a defender, dont forget we also have tripotseris one of our young guys who at 18 is as tall as goumas.

Roma is a sinking ship...even Arsenal is better now.

I honestly disaprove with Rangers, but I just know Kirgiakos will TEAR THAT LEAGUE APART..........as for the ethniki....he could hurt it by going to scotland, but if he is transfered imagine Dellas---Kirgiakos----Kapsis back there........with Fyssas and Seitaridis??????? unstopabble.

In all honesty the Scottish league isnt that far apart from the Greek League. You have the power house teams Celtic and Rangers and the rest take the scraps that are left in their wake. So in Greece we have the big three.

However the positive with this transfer from Sotirios point of view is the exposure. Even here in Australia the Scottish league gets more exposure than the Greek (I mean in mainstream media not on Greek TV Satelite). The EPL is only a stones throw away and the exposure he will get in England will help him out in the future.

Kyriagkos if he settles in well we all know can tear the league apart as Drakos said. And I actually dont think it could hurt the ethniki. His just going to come up against new and different types of opposition to mark and defend against and it will broaden his knowledge or his gameplay.

The key for him is to play and not to make it to the bench.

After 18 hours of talks, Rangers are hopeful of anouncing the signing of Kyrgiakos this afternoon and expect him to make his debut against Aberdeen at the weekend.

The length of contract appears to have been the sticking point, with Rangers prefering a 5 year deal and Sotiris favouring a 2 1/2 year contract. Concerns over his fitness have been dismissed.

A Rangers source has described the transfer as "the most complex transfer deal Rangers have ever done".
