Transfer News and Rumors - Summer 2023

And to think about it, we actually paid money to Giannina for Kargas only to dump him after one season. Planning at its best. There is just no way a team will pay money for Kargas knowing that he is not wanted by PAOK. I think in his case the best case scenario is a loan to a team that will pay for half of his salary. Several team come to mind (Tripoli, Panserraikos, lamia, Giannina, etc.)

As for selling players I think at least one will be sold this transfer period from this list:

Zivkovic A.
Konstantelias
Koulierakis
Augusto
Narey
Kotarski
Ingason

Zivkovic the most likely sale, Ingason the least.

Just a head up. Any article that starts with "ฮฃฯฮผฯ†ฯ‰ฮฝฮฑ ฮผฮต ฯ€ฮปฮทฯฮฟฯ†ฮฟฯฮฏฮตฯ‚", "ฮคฯฮตฮปฯŒ ฯƒฮตฮฝฮฌฯฮนฮฟ" or "ฮฆฮฎฮผฮตฯ‚ ฮณฮนฮฑ.." is written purely for clicks. You should all know this by now.

Looks like Manolo Gabbiadini is our no. 1 target for the striker position. Apparently PAOK people traveled to Italy for negotiations. Reports are the sticking point is the length of contract. Player wants 3 years and PAOK is offering 2+1. Salary would range between 1.3 - 1.7 mil depending on the type of contract.ย

Lots of rumors today.

Winger from Twente:

CM from Benfica (who played in Italy last season):

LB from Inter (who will be a free agent in a few days):

ย

Also, not a rumor or a transfer, but Lucescu's long-time associate is leaving. Perhaps the real reason is due to performance? That Italian guy who left last year might come back, and I saw a potential Romanian coach coming in as well (but can't find the source for that now that I'm getting around to posting).

The eye-talian may have rejected an offer of 1.5mm for a 2+1. Seems he wants a 3-year contract.

That Benfica midfielder might be a no-go. This guy also rumored:

Kovalenko hasย notย actually been rumored, but I guess the eye-talian press thinks we should get him or something:ย https://www.transfermarkt.us/viktor-kovalenko/profil/spieler/203842

Looks like Dalberg is asking for too much money, so we are now looking again at Baba Rahman who is under contract with Chelsea. It appears that Chelsea wants to unload the player, so might get him at a decent price.

Rumors are that Virgil Misidjan will be our first signing and will be signed this week.

He was ok but nothing special. Don't see much difference between him and Rafa Soares.

New rumor is central midfielderย Magomed Mustafayevich Ozdoyev,ย Russian who plays for Turkish club Fatih Karagรผmrรผk.

I can't knock the idea of poaching people from relegated or second-tier clubs - we've had some success with that with Mak and Narey, after all (and Narey seems to be training normally, btw - thank God).

Both are positions of need (though if we pick up Pelkas late in the summer then Boetius would be pointless). Exposito may be our intended anti-Augusto? Assuming we do sell. I'd be surprised if we bought him though, as he'd be expensive and has only been with his club for a year (and is on a long-term deal).

Why am Iย slowly getting the feeling that the front office is trying hard not to make any acquisitions in order for Lucescu and Boto to quit on their own so they won't have to pay them to leave?

Mixed reports on Ingason wanting to go or not. You can imagine if he does indeed want to move on then it will happen.ย

@pashย while I would normally agree with you in rolling my eyes at the conspiracy theories, there is definitelyย something up with the management of the team. All the messaging coming out was PAOK would have a striker signed and delivered by the time they go to Holland, no movement there and the team departs in 4 or so days.ย

I am not sure what is actually happening, all reports are mixed and now the fans are getting really restless. And that is not just because of this year but the last few years of what they consider inadequate signings. Now fans are fans and they will complain, but as we know it can build pressure. Especially in Greece where it can manifest in toxic ways.ย
