drakos13 Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Pliatsikas signed a 4 year deal with Schalke! http://www.contra.gr/Soccer/Germany/Bundes...e04/243603.html
Genome Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 If it's true that he was sold for 300k then it's a bit outrageous! But I'm happy for him, I wish him the best in Germany!
drakos13 Posted August 22, 2009 Author Posted August 22, 2009 Pliatsikas got his first start vs Hoffenhaim...was replaced at half though....
js1000 Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Pliatsikas ruled out of World Cup Young Greek star Vassilios Pliatsikas has been ruled out for the rest of the season by Schalke after tearing a knee ligament in training. The injury will also keep him out of Greece's squad for this summer's World Cup. Pliatsikas, 21, suffered the injury on Monday as Schalke trained in Spain during the Bundesliga's winter break. Team doctors confirmed the extent of the injury after further examination in Düsseldorf. http://uk.soccerway.com/news/2010/January/...t-of-world-cup/
Euro2004 Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Horrible news. Thanks to the kid for helping us getting there with that amazing performance in the Ukraine. Let's hope he gets another chance in his career to shine on the world stage
Sharpos Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 :( what a shame. I was really keen on seeing what this kid could do for us in the WC.
pao123 Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 ti egine me ton pliatsika? he seemed to have disaapeared after his injury last year.. is he better? training? second team?
Euro2004 Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 He is better but hasn't just hasn't featured for Schalke's first team, which suggests he isn't the same player he was pre-injury. Such a shame, he looked like the real deal against the Ukraine and the ethniki could certainly do with that Pliatsikas now. I think he should go on loan to a Greek team for 6 months to get some regular football and try to find himself again.
Euro2004 Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 will most likely be leaving schalke in the summer He's being linked with a loan move to German 2nd division team, Duisburg, they finish 8th this season. That injury seems to have ruined the kid's career. A real shame.
pao123 Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 apparently the deal for a one year loan to duisburg is all but closed...
js1000 Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 after a short spell in Ukraine pliatsikas has joined romanian side Astra Giurgiu, he made his debut in his sides 2-0 win at concordia chiajna last night.
Greekaroos Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 The forgotten man of Greek football Vasileios Pliatsikas has recently signed with Slovak Super Liga football club Slovan Bratislava. Since his last major injury which kept him out of action for quiet a while Pliatsikas has had two stints in the Ukrainian Premier League with FC Metalurh Donetsk & FC Astra Giurgiu in Romania's Liga I.
Greekaroos Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 (edited) I thought he played a major roll in Greece's qualification for the South Africa 2010 FIFA World Cup in that play off win away to the Ukraine back in November 2009. Edited January 28, 2016 by Greekaroos
paokarag4 Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 (edited) he came off the bench for the injured Sokratis in that game during the first half. Played as a makeshift right back and looked pretty good from memory Edited January 29, 2016 by paokarag4
Akritis_1944 Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Slovan Bratislava hey? I bet the geniuses will come out and say that at least he's playing in a better league than the Greek Super League! Ha! Actually, I've always liked this player. He was very versatile. He may not be playing in a good league but at least he's at a decent club in that league.
Rockafeller Skank Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Its not better than Greek Super League. But its probably that he doesnt wanna play in Greece. He is nothing special. A good player at his position and nothing more.
Nikod Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 He played very well in that Ukraine game. A shame his career did not live up to the promise because of injury.
Greekaroos Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 After so many major injuries he would be happy just playing at one of the top teams in a decent league trying to stay fit & healthy. The national team is the furthest thing on his mind.
Dutch Eagle Posted February 10, 2024 Posted February 10, 2024 His journey brought him after his stint at Panionios to Platanias, Lamia and Panachaiki before he retired from professional footbal.
