  1. I think he was saying that he just doesn't have the chemistry with the Svarnas and somebody like Manolas can benefit the team. He didn't say anything negative about the coach or the team. They are young and building up.
  2. Bakasetas is a hard worker, cover alot of ground. If you noticed, he kept getting fouled. He has value.
  3. To your point, there were quite a few times were Slovenia was able to get to our final third and the ball ended back to their goalie because of all the pressure we had on them. That only happens because of the pressure we apply.
  4. Greece deserved the win. Didn't happen but we played well, just missing that last piece. It was a bit odd though that we didn't use our subs that much.
  5. Bakasetas has played well in the last few games plus he has been in good form for his club team.
  6. We should be winning, have been playing much better. Limnios seems to be burning his marker at every turn. Nothing from our other side. Maybe Mantalos gets replaced by Masouras? Would also like to have Tziolis given a shot this game.
  7. Limnios is the best player for Greece, so fast!! I only hear his name.
  8. Take it back, they have played better...almost score by Pavlidis off the corner.
  9. Nothing to write home about. We are pressing them but pretty even.
  10. It's how you feel. If you don't feel Greek but are simply using Greece to advance your career, then no. But if you love the country and are assimilated into the culture, than 100% Greek.
  11. Zeca has impressed me. He sings the anthem louder than most, speaks Greek, acts Greek, loves Greece. To me, he is Greek.
  12. They did reach out to Baldock, that's why he said he was interested. There are some legal hurdles that he must go through which is why it's taking so long.
  13. I wasn't saying that they were the problem. I was saying that I believe that they were justified in speaking out. I think that our tactics for a long time have been counter productive. Manolas/Sokratis are the reason we did well in the WC are few years ago. They are both gifted (Sokratis has regressed since then but still a solid player). I also believe that we have played more attacking football since they both left and we have looked like more of a team. Is that because of the coach or because they were excluded, who knows. The coach may think they have too strong a personality and may take away from everyone else. Time will tell and if we keep playing well, no one will care.
  14. I also think that Sokrates and Manolas did the right thing by saying what they did against the previous coach. It was the only way that EPO listened. As a professional, you want to have professional coaches. To not even game plan against Italy was negligent. To have them do a position which they never practiced in is absurd, changing only after Siovas said he was comfortable playing there as he never did it before (which by the way he told him for the first time on the pitch!!) Not saying they were not a problem but their complaints were valid. No one can deny that we have been playing better now.
  15. I think that Sokrates was right about Anastasiadis. He did what he did to force a change which was necessary. It is beyond insane to spend 3 weeks in a camp and not game plan your opponent. To not have a set line up, to play someone who has never played as a left back minutes before a game. If he hadn't come out publicly, than he would not have been fired. Having said that, the team has played much better since. If he has an ego and thinks he is better than the team, than...
  16. Cool read!
  17. A true leader (at least a competent one) rises to the occasion during times of crisis. Seeing how Mistotakis pretty much saved Greece during this pandemic, shows that he more than up to the task. Whether you agree with him or not on policy (fair point - we all have different ideas), all you need to do is look at other countries throughout Europe to see what has transpired. During the Evros incidents, he handled it with calm and galvanized his allies (I use that term loosely) to at least stem the tide. I keep thinking of what would have happened if Tsipras was in charge. We saw how he handled the bail outs....
  18. Really? Bc they are beginning with the call ups...
  19. Thinking of going to the game in Jersey, does anyone know what the Greek section is?
  20. Can Podence play OLY? Isn't he cup tied?
  21. I think Lymbe was the technical director at AEK when he left...
  22. What I do know is that the govn't is trying to stabilize the economy and streamline reforms while dealing with external threats in the eastern med. Unfortunately, sport and politics seem to go together. The government feels that if PAOK is relegated, there will be riots in Saloniki. Same goes if OLY was relegated, there would be riots. To have some calm, there are trying to get ahead of this. I don't like the fact that Sports and Politics are being comingled but in an environment were there are so many pitfalls, soccer should not destroy a country. Just being pragmatic. And while I do agree if PAOK is guilty, they should be relegated, I do not think PAOK would accept the punishment and they would start blaming the other big teams. btw - I support PAO but Greece above all teams.
  23. If PAOK gets relegated, it will cause riots in northern Greece. That is the only reason why the state did what it did.
  24. In his case though, it wasn't his fault for lack of trying. He was/is injury prone. Always hustled and tried.
  25. Saw it the other day, looks like a blue tee with the Greek logo on it...
