Don't want to get carried away but we looked great. For a non-attacking team, 25 shots is pretty great. You can still see that we need a bit more quality in the final third. Having said that, our grit was amazing!! So much hustling, so much energy. I want this to be taken to the next qualifiers. Saying we are better without Sok/Manolas would not be right. We need them but they need to play within his system.

Funny how we did this without our two best players - team first. Not saying that they were the problem but we definitely needed a refresh. Let's see how we do against Armenia away.

I don't think they are handing us anything, we are just taking it to them. They haven't had any time to regroup. 24 shots for us, 4 for them.

Masouras - what an impact...

Having said that, we are at least trying, wanting the game. Limnios keeps getting open. Bakasetas hasn't been bad. Giannoulis looks like he needs more time. Hatzi looks good at times, raw on others. Kourbellis has been intercepting everything. Even Staf at CB has looked good.

Let's not forget, both Santos and Rehhagel called up players we were not crazy about. Does anyone remember Vyntra starting in the world cup as a CB, or Tzavellas or a way past his prime Charisteas.

I like the fact that he benched Fefta for tardiness. You need to show commitment and professionalism. Hopefully it resonates.

Masouras didn't play because he was suspended. Koulouris hustles but lacks that final quality. Limnios impressed. The formation and the formation was great, we played very well as a group and a million times better than the 1st leg with better defenders in Sok/Manolas. I would remove Bakasetas and replace with Fefta. Donis for Koulouris. Tsimakis for Staf, Retsos for Bakakis, Use Masouras/Pavlidis/Varsouj off the bench. My biggest question is why Vlacho didn't start. Paschalakis wasn't even called and he comes in and starts. Didn't make sense at all.

Donis has shown flashes of brilliance, he is talented but needs to be more consistent. We do not have anyone like him, if you see some of his highlights, you can see how quick he is. He has scored some impressive goals against Bayern.

I think he excluded them so he can put his own imprint on the team. Those two are Greece's best players, command a certain respect and may overshadow anything the coach says. He may want to gain control of the locker room first. Not saying that they are a problem, he may want the players to look to him instead of Sokratis if something is happening.

I think he is testing the best cohesiveness for the team. He knows Socrates and Manolas play well, why not see who else can make the cut?

I think he wants to see what he has, we lost with them 3-0 to Italy. He probably wants to be able to put his stamp on this team without worrying what the more senior players say. Once he establishes what he wants, he can bring them back as contributing players knowing that they are part of the team, not the team.
