  1. Stupid to start 2 left backs. Giannoulis playing out of position and it shows. Take him out and put in Tzolis who can do a lot better in that position. Also you need score on the limited chances you get.

  2. Last game of this weird season for our internationals. Maybe using this one as a try-out for the important games we play from September on. After that the lads can charge their batteries.

  3. If Pavlidis doesn't play that stupid, carless pass into the middle where I am sure he expected Bakasetas to be but thats not his fault, they need to talk more and you dont just whip a ball like that into the center of the field... school boy stuff, we may have won. For me we played well HOWEVER, for long patches we struggled to get anything going in attack, I dunno what JVS is seen in Bakasetas and I hate to be singling this guy out but he is killing us, we are playing with 10 men and with Baka at CAM we are really gona struggle against most teams as he kills every attack with sideways and back passes, look how many times we couldnt properly transition into attack because: 1. He gets the ball and then passes back or sideways to a marked or very flat player 2. He has no speed or technique to move forward and allow the flow on to continue 3. We don't have a target in the middle cause he is jogging there 4. We then revert the ball back to the full backs, our counter attack is finished and we have to start again Masouras was a beast today and did the work Baka couldn't do, of course many times he was left with no options and our attack died. He should have had a goal to mark a MVP performance. We couldn't really see what Giannoulis could do at LW as we lacked flow until Mantalos and Pelkas came on who showed immediately what this team can do with attacking midfielders who can run and go forward . Androutsos very solid today, I think he just landed the RB role, Vlahodimos made some fine saves also. Pelkas looked improved to me, it's only one game and not massive minutes but I liked what I saw when we had him, Mantalos and Masouras out there. What we need to do to improve. * Drop Bakasetas ASAP - the team will change drastically, we are gona struggle to win most games with him there * Improve our passing!!!!!! This is a big one, we gave away the ball so many times so cheaply, unacceptable at this level and well, it cost us a goal today, surprised it didn't cost more *Play Tzolis at LM Also wanna give credit to Papadopoulos and Tzavellas who scrambled and did all they could in defense, well played. At times though I want KPaps to mark closer Keen to see what we do with Norway.

  6. Overall - Greece has played well, much better than we played Spain. We are actually going forward. Should have had the lead with Masouras being one on one with the gk and had a few other good chances.

  10. Lucescu is live! Gotta say despite how the Garcia situation was handled, it's great to see Razvan back and talking about PAOK. Fills me with optimism and hope leading into next season.

  11. I wanted to see JVS call up Alexandropoulos and give him some playing time vs a tough Belgium side. From 2004 -2014 Greece was a football powerhouse under the guidance of Rehhagel & Santos we won the European championship and during that time we defeated the likes of Portugal, Spain, France, Czechs Croatia etc.. Greece only missed the 2006 WCUP due to a fluky loss to Albania. It would have been great to see us in Germany with that side we had I think a quarter finals place would have been attainable. Anyways now we are missing out on the Euros again where we should have qualified behind Italy in such a gift of a group that was handed to us. Just going to be hard to watch us not there again!

  12. Before we resume our duties for the WC qualifiers we will play a friendly on September 1st in St. Jakob-Park in Basel against Switzerland. Only confirmation I found is on the site of the Swiss FA: https://www.football.ch/sfv/nationalteams/a-team/kalender.aspx

  13. Unfortunately I have to agree. JVS once again proven he hasn’t learned anything. These friendlies should be a time to select players in positions that we desperately need improving on. Players who are deserving of call ups. It doesn’t give me much of optimism when I see the likes of Bakakis, Bakasetas and Tzevallas in the team. Yeah Bakasetas has done good in Turkey but every time he plays for the national team he is completely lost and ruins our attacks. For me if your club form doesn’t match your national team form then you shouldn’t be selected. He’s had too many chances. After the nations league we should’ve moved on from him. Bakakis has been out of form for the last year and a half and still gets picked over Kotsiras who’s had the season of his life and Giannis Masouras who is a very fast RWB who has skill on the ball aswell. He has also played nearly every game for his club in Poland. Tzavellas for me does not belong anymore on the team. That ship has sailed in my opinion. The biggest mistake JVS did was to drop Siovas. Also not convincing Sokratis and Manolas to play. These players can still help Greece, especially in a major tournament. Alexandropoulos who is arguably our best box to box midfielder is left out. Someone who can control the midfield and is the most dynamic. He’s only 19. Ninis, who has improved his game, who is our best passer doesn’t get a look. Fetfatzidis, a player that Greece will propably never produce again, gets ignored. I had hope in the beginning with JVS, but he’s made the team go backwards unfortunately. I don’t know if it’s a lack of football IQ, politics or is getting bad advice. This is unacceptable to be ignoring some of the countries best players and continuously selecting players who aren’t good enough to beat the likes of Kosovo, Georgia and Slovenia. We are not a football powerhouse but we should at least be beating these teams and making tournaments like we used to do. For me play the most skilful and inform players you have. Play players that have been overlooked for a long time. Understand why we couldn’t beat those teams and make some changes. Don’t stick with the same players that couldn’t get first in a easy nations league group or draw with Georgia.
