The draw of the first qualifying round:

First qualifying round draw

Game 1 Liverpool v TNS

Game 2 FC Haka v Pyunik

Game 3 HB Torshavn v FBK Kaunas

Game 4 FC Levadia Tallinn v Dinamo Tbilisi

Game 5 NK Gorica v KF Tirana

Game 6 FC Kairat Almaty v FC Artmedia Bratislava

Game 7 PFC Neftchi v FH Hafnarfjordur

Game 8 Rabotnicki v Skonto FC

Game 9 Glentoran v Shelbourne

Game 10 Dinamo Minsk v Anorthosis Famagusta

Game 11 Sliema Wanderers v FC Sheriff

Game 12 F91 Dudelange v NK Zrinjski

I think the draw was not the best Anorthosis could have hoped for but Dinamo Minsk are not the team they used to be.

Btw, should the Cypriot side go through, they will face...Trabzonspor of Turkey.

The draw also produced two other interesting matchups with Liverpool facing Welsh side TNS and N. Ireland champions Glentoran facing Rep. Ireland champions Shelbourne.

lol - TNS said they would offer a game to liverpool anyway in place of there. How Ironic.

I doubt Famagusta will go through, but if they do, there will be havoc. Memories of APOEL against Galatasary not happening spring to mind. The Cypriots are very unlucky when it comes to Qualification, they always get the toughest games.

Impossible to believe! A Luxembourg side lose 0-1 at home and advance with a 4-0(!) win away! I believe this is the first time any side from the Grand Duchy advanced in the CL against anybody! :o

well done i guess. as much as i dont like scottish football i do respect that Celtic are a challenging side usually.... 5-0? to Artmedia Bratislava? i have to say im a bit suspicious of a fix...the odds on that must have been quite heavy....

Shocking performance from Celtic, particularly the comic defensive trio of Balde, Varga and Camara. Did anyone see the miss by McGeady at 2-0. Open goal, 1 metre out - what a vital moment that turned out to be.

Best goal of the evening was a volley from an unmarked player at the edge of the box. The sad thing for Celtic was that this was his 5th attempt, and he remained unmarked.

Can Strachan survive this? If they fail to win by 6 goals next week they are out of Europe completely, which will have huge financial consequences.

Match analysis from a Celtic fans website:

"There are times of adversity as a celtic fan when you have to stand firm with the players. We're all in this together is the refrain. This isn't one of those times.

5-0.

Tonight we witnessed without doubt the poorest performance in European football from a Celtic team in the past twenty years. Make no mistake about it this outclassed Neuchatel Xamax from the early nineties. In those days we were supporting players such as Mark McNally, Stevie Fulton and Tony Cascarino. I thought we'd left those dark days far far behind us. We had a very, very well paid collection of players on the park tonight and they let every one of us down.

GS has to carry the can for this shambles. He would still have his work cut out winning over the fans if we had won well tonight. This result could cripple his tenure before it has properly begun. John Barnesesque is the only way to describe this result. Gordon, you'll need to get it sorted and soon pal or else you'll not be here by Christmas.

However, it's not fair to blame Strachan alone for this result tonight. He selects the team but the players on the park should have been more than able to beat a team who spent the first twenty minutes terrified to come out of their own half.

The guys in the green jerseys were God awful tonight.

David Marshall is the only one to emerge with any credit. When Sutton left the field injured the team basically fell apart. Neil Lennon looked a yard off the pace. Stan Petrov just didn't perform, Alan Thompson looked like a player desperately short of match fitness. The forwards looked static and were easily muscled out of the match.

But a special word must be reserved for the defence.

Pish.

Mo Camara had a hellish night tonight. He appeared completely overawed by the event and seemed to forget the basics of defending. Time after time he left his man with acres of space to run into. The centre of defence continued their horrific form and in Paul Telfer we were left wondering "why?" Replays of the first goal showed him to be miles away from the action as the Artmedia man ran in from the right back position.

This was meant to be the season when we were put into the second pot for the Champions' League draw. Instead we are, and let's not kid ourselves here, out of Europe before the domestic season starts. There is always a bit of a hangover when we are ultimately punted out of Europe and left with the utter pish that is the SPL but at least over the past couple of years we've had a run for our money. Not this time round. All we have to look forward to now is Motherwell, Falkirk and the rest. It's a depressing thought.

Internet Celtic fans are often accused of being prone to overreaction but in this case there can be no reaction too outrageous. The word "disaster" does not do this justice.

The players let us down tonight. We know they are better than that and that they will be hurting but it will be the fans that have to walk into their workplace tomorrow and face their hun workmates. The board will be "deeply disappointed." The manager will admit to being "humiliated and determined to make it up to the fans." Who knows? the players may even feel ashamed and refuse to take their wages for this week. (Okay I've taken that too far.) But every one of them will go into a place of work were there won't be many huns rubbing their nose in it. And that means they'll not truly understand what they have done to the support tonight.

Of course life will go on. The club will get it's act together and Strachan and the team will end up making a decent challenge for the league but the excitement is gone before it's even begun. The glamour of the Champions' League will be denied us and we don't even have the UEFA cup to keep us going during the winter months. It's going to be a long long season.

A disgrace. Every last one of them."

You can imagine the state Marc's in, Johnny. It's like a close family member died.

Bt don't forget great things can still be achieved, even when they beging with disasters and shambles..i.e Finland 5 Greece 1, Otto's 1st game in charge ;)

Ofcourse Celtic won't overturn this but Strachan is already backs to the wall and I'm quite sure an O' Neill team would never lose this bad to such average opposition.

Oh dear, oh dear! :o

From losing the UEFA Cup Final with seconds to go two seasons ago...

To losing in the Prems with a humiliating score to a minnow team...

Petrzalka gave Strachan a very warm or even hot welcome.

6 goals needed from Celtic tonight as they play to keep their European hopes alive. After losing another 4 goals at the weekend, Celtic's biggest problem may not be scoring, but avoiding conceding any!!

A joke going aroung Glasgow at the moment:

What do Gordon Strachan and the Titanic have in common?

Both should never have left Southampton!

Celtic didn't quite manage to score the required goals, but last night's game was a drastic improvement from their last 2 matches.

Goals from Thompson (pen), Hartson, McManus and Beattie saw the Glasgow side go out 5-4 on aggregate. A crowd of just over 50,000(!!!!) turned out despite trailing 5-0 from last week. Celtic created many other chances, but poor finishing and bad luck saw the Slovaks go through to the delight of around 150 travelling fans.
