  1. Having seen the highlights of the game, the disallowed goal of Kyriakos was clearly a legit goal!! He didn't even touch the keeper. :o Why did he celebrate so wildly by the way? He played against his former team, right? Where's the loyality gone? Why on earth Olympiacos can't find a proper GK for years? Instead of bringing aboard 45 Spanish playmakers at the same time, why not buy an Italian or Spanish GK from a La Liga/Serie A side? It's obvious that the post-Nikopolidis period has miserably failed with Pardo, Costanzo, Carroll and Megyeri?! Nikopolidis' last few seasons have not been good at all, either! :o
  2. This season's gonna be a walkover for Olympiacos.. Sad but true.. They seem to be the only team without any financial issues.. AEK lost half -perhaps more- of its squad, PAO has only its name left, thanks to an unending series of crappy managements, while PAOK is err, PAOK, I mean they will find a way to lose everything anyway.. It's so hurtful to see that a PAO team having the likes of Karagounis, Cisse, Tzorvas, Leto, Ninis and Sarriegi who were at least something of a match to an ageing Galatasaray team two-and-a-half years ago have shrinked to the levels of Fornaroli, Barbaruses, Habib Sow and ever-so-fringe Lazaros! The same goes for AEK, too but they are an entirely different story, since it takes more than some idiocracy to go near-bankrupt thrice in eight years!! So so sad.. :(

    Sell off

oh man, the speed of how players were lost is amazing, and sad. i think your expectation of 5th or 6th place is a bit too ambitious for the team at hand.
  4. "Ordinaryus" (Professor in Ordinary) as they called him.. :( He's now teaming up with Metin Oktay of Galatasaray to form one of the most glorifying striking partnerships in history for Heaven SK.. Lefter, 625 matches, 423 goals.. :nw: Metin, 356 matches, 326 goals.. :nw: R.I.P. Legends!! :nw:
  5. Actually Samsunspor have a seemingly very good core of players in them. They've got Vlado Petkovic as the team's headcoach. He enjoyed fantastic success at Young Boys Bern, as he promoted top quality players to the world stage, including Seydou Doumbia and Thierry Doubai. They have a decent goalkeeper in Ertugrul Taşkıran, on loan from Fenerbahce. He was a key player for Fenerbahce A2 (U21s) team when I worked there. Sometimes flops in crosses department, but still OK. Just 21 y-o. Defence seems to be the weakest area. They have former PSV centre-back Andre Bahia, who seems to be the only decent players in that unit. Valdomiro, Hakan Arslan and Kemal do not seem sufficient. They have Michael Fink, formerly of Beşiktaş and Monchengladbach in the midfield, partnered by Colombian Dominguez Cabezas, who they signed from FC Sion. On the right side plays Simon Zenke, Nigerian powerhouse wingforward. On the left they usually put Pal Lazar of Hungary, or Ekigho Ehiosun of Nigeria. Ekigho is the guy who scored both goals vs Galatasaray last week, as they went up 2-0, before losing 2-4. The striker since the beginning of the season has been Aristide Bance, former Mainz striker. And now that Gekas arrived for that position, I could see Bance either downgraded to the bench, or put on the left side instead of Ekigho. As stated, Samsunspor do have a very good core of players, plus a decent coach. Will they turn things around in the second half of the season, I don't know but there's every reason to be hopeful.
  6. Hey mods, time to change the current title to Fanis Gekas (Samsunspor A.Ş.).. ;)
  7. He's just signed a 2,5 year contract, worth ?300k for the remainder of this season, ?500k for next season, and ?600k for his final season to be. I don't know what his bonuses will be. By the way, as Galatasaray are away at Samsunspor later this evening, strange things happened. When Gekas landed at Samsun 19 Mayıs Airport, it was Galatasaray fans that greeted him. Check out this photo gallery for further details and laugh!!  (Pic 10 shows him with his new jersey on) ;) Gekas in Samsun - Gallery
  8. Indeed!I felt he could still be worthy and good enough if he joined Galatasaray to back Elmander and Baros up. Great signing for Samsunspor!! Pity that their first game is against Gala! :o
  9. Gekas to join Samsunspor According to Milliyet and many other Turkish papers such as Fanatik, Zaman and Sabah, Greek striker Fanis Gekas is set to join Turkish Superleague strugglers Samsunspor in a few days. Samsunspor Director of Football Adnan Sezgin is in Germany to sort out the final few details of the transfer.
  10. After a fantastic finish to the first half of the season, league leaders Galatasaray want to get rid of dead wood, according to Milliyet. Spanish expensive bench-warmer Albert Riera will head off to Dynamo Moskva in January, if things are as planned. A Dynamo representative is expected to arrive in Istanbul today to discuss the details of the transfer. Riera's wife is unhappy in Istanbul and wants a move to Russia, the source says. Dynamo will look to agree a fee around €2M, while Gala wants to get the money spent on the Spanish winger back. Galatasaray signed the winger from Thrylos for €3.2M. Also, the Russian club may look to sign Servet Cetin if a fee can be agreed. The Turkish NT defender, 30, has been on the fringes on the second part of the first half of the season so far, losing his place to up and coming youngster, Semih Kaya. Kayserispor forward Noureddine Amrabat also declared earlier today that he wants to play for Galatasaray in the second half of the season. Gala officially tabled an enquiry for the player earlier this month but Kayserispor board reacted with a distinct hostility, saying they will not let any other their players go to Galatasaray in the future, because of the club's approach. An offer of
  11. Anybody knows what happened to Cholevas in this match?? It looked like a ligament injury to me.. Hope I'm wrong, though..
  12. GALATASARAY - FENERBAHCE : 3 - 1 Our lions have defeated Fenerbahce 3-1, as goals from Eboue, Elmander and Felipe Melo were good enough to secure a famous victory. Fenerbahce pegged one back thanks to Alex's 90+4 min strike. With 16 strikes on target, Galatasaray showed utter domination in this derby in front of 50,000 hungry fans. Details later... ;)
  13. A semi-reliable Turkish sports website, sporx.com, has today published some news about Panathinaikos signing Ronaldinho from Flamengo!! Ronaldinho? To Where? The article's in Turkish but to sum it up short, it says new PAO owner-to be Al-Saud has declared through his spokesperson, a guy called Vasilios Tsakas (never heard of him tbh), that he will bring Ronaldinho to PAO and Dinho will be his present for the "loving fans" of this great club. It's also stated that the club is looking to bring back Djibril Cisse and finish the signature of rising Xanthi star Panayiotis Vlachodimos before January. It's rumoured all three signing will be unveiled by January 1, 2012. Also the in the link, Ronaldinho is quoted saying "I've always loved this country (Greece). It will be a delightful experience to play there." Any truth? I do not know... :o

Tunay Torun (Herhtha BSC, CM) and Mehmet Ekici (SV Werder Bremen, CAM) have not been called up on selection. Nuri Şahin (Real Madrid CD, CAM) has not been called up, as well. Hiddink stated it was because of the player's just-passed injury. But both Mourinho and the player himself said he was in a 100 % condition. Hiddink is expected to continue with his 4-2-3-1 that he trusted in the Group Stage. In-form players Egemen and Mehmet Topal are expected to replace Servet and Emre ant CB and MC positions respectively. Free-scoring Burak Yılmaz will be the striker and Arda Turan and Kazım Kazım are the expected wingers to start.
  17. Matchday 10 - Galatasaray v Mersin IY : 0 - 0 Fatih Terim's men dropped two points at home to Mersin IY in an action-packed match. Galatasaray started the match with a slightly different formation than usual. The formation seemed to be an asymetric 4-3-1-2. Galatasaray v Mersin IY - first half formation Terim planned to press early to Mersin's weak left-side by placing Kazım Kazım in a more advanced position on the flank. This meant Riera had to come in and play as a third central-midfielder most of the time. Selcuk and Felipe Melo swapped positions sometimes but it was usually the Brazilian who played in a more advanced position. Kazım Kazım did well defensively but was a liability offensively. His only positive moment came when he passed the ball to Sabri on the overlap, as the captain hoofed the ball over the crossbar. Semih Kaya started alongside Tomas Ujfalusi again, and was very successful in terms of marking the strong Marcio Nobre. Albert Riera was absolutely a disaster and caused the penalty on 45+1 thanks to his terrible pass when he came deep to receive the ball. Muslera, committing himself in the penalty, did a fantastic save from Moritz's spotkick. Riera was booed off by the fans at half-time as he was the biggest underperformer by a massive margin in the first half. The second half started with two changes for CimBom. 35 year-old Ayhan was thrown in to the centre of midfield in place of Sabri, and Riera was taken off to be replaced by Sercan. Replacing quick but inaccurate Sabri with slow but pinpoint Ayhan helped Galatasaray establish a more of a presence in the second half. Selcuk remained as the deep-positioned playmaker but Felipe Melo started to play as a free-flowing #10 behind Elmander. Sercan used the left-flank effectively, in particular the first fifteen mins of the 2nd half, and Eboue became the best player on the pitch with his constant overlaps, dribbles, and accurate crosses. The Galatasaray in the second half was argubly what Terim wanted to see in his 4-2-3-1 or 4-1-4-1 since the beginning of the season. What let Galatasaray down was the lack of finishing. Elmander missed four chances, three of which were 99% goalscoring opportunities. But it's hard and unfair to criticise the Swede, who ran his chops off and covered more than 12 km in the game. Galatasaray now have 18 points and lie in 3rd place.
  18. My first trip to the TT ArenA will be tomorrow for the match against Mersin Idman Yurdu!! Wish me and CimBom good luck!! Expected Galatasaray Line Up; Sabri and Servet suspended.. Gokhan Zan, Yekta, Aydın injured.. Milan Baros, Kazım Kazım doubtful..
  19. Galatasaray - Bursaspor : 2 - 1 Galatasaray kept their perfect record in Turk Telekom Arena with a 2-1 win over Bursaspor. Galatasaray took the lead with a well-placed finish from Johan Elmander after new signing Engin Baytar dribbled through Bursaspor defence and assisted the Swede on 21 minutes. Bursaspor equalised through their young skipper Serdar Aziz, as the centre-back headed in a well-taken corner on 81 minutes. Milan Baros won it for Galatasaray in 88 minutes, after a great string of passes. The win summed up a superb week for Galatasaray as the men's and women's basketball teams won the President's Cup with dominant wins over Fenerbahce.  Galatasaray Wheelchair Men's Basketball team (aka Engelsiz Aslanlar) won the World Club Championship for the third time in four years... :nw: :nw: :nw: :nw:
  20. Spor Toto SuperLig - Matchday 5 Kayserispor - Mersin Idman Yurdu : 2 - 2 I'm not going to say anything about this match.. Just watch Nobre's free kick goal!!! :nw: :nw: Absolutely delightful!!
  21. Spor Toto SuperLig - Matchday 5 MKE Ankaragucu - Galatasaray : 0 - 3 Galatasaray had an easy ride and scored the club's 3000th league goal in this one. Jan Rajnoch opened the scoring with an own goal, scoring Cim Bom's 3000th league goal in the process. Kazım Kazım doubled the lead on 19 minutes, after a great counter-attack set him free on the right side of the box. He took his goal really well, in to the far top corner. Milan Baros converted a penalty on 85, after being fouled in the box. But the really important win came in the match against Lietuvos Rytas in the Euroleague Qualifiers Final Match. The missing guy from the first two days, Preston Shumpert took control in the third quarter to carry the team to its maiden THY Euroleague apperance (Galatasaray took part in Champions' Cup in 1970's, 1980's and 1991, but since the establishment of the European League in 1993, it's the first appearance). Shumpert had 14 points on 6/9 shooting, while star signing Jaka Lakovic added 10 points, 3 rebs and 6 assts. Power forward Luksa Andric and shooter Joshua Shipp also had 12 points each. Son bir kez daha, CIM BOM BOM EUROLEAGUE'DE!!!!!!

  24. If Cisse was sold, what makes you think anyone else will be spared? Right! But surely a club like PAO can generate $30M to clear the debts?I mean where did this debt come from?! No big spendings as of late. The crisis hit Greece severely, yes but surely PAO management were not stupid.. or were they?! <_<
