pash Posted June 26 Posted June 26 Still some rumors of Pena going to Peru (not Brazil). Guess we'll see. For me the biggest need is that CB. Need a clear #1 there. We'll have four midfielders if you include Thymianis, and if Ozdoyev stays. So probably another one there, if Pena leaves. CF is obviously a need, and hopefully we will get someone that will pair well with Chalov. I don't think we actually need a LW, assuming Shoretire will actually get some minutes. I think the kid's got "it" and it's a damn shame we didn't play him much last year. What else? I don't think we move on an attacking mid unless Konstantelias gets sold. Pelkas can also cover all along that front line, which is another reason I don't think we need another LW. If Despodov gets sold, that might also require another guy. Really all depends on how much game time Taison and Shoretire are destined to get.
Tahma Posted June 27 Posted June 27 Fabrizio Romano has reported we’ve signed Greg Taylor from Celtic for 3 years, he was released as a free agent. Also Meite deal seems to have gone through too, €1m clause activated.
pash Posted June 27 Posted June 27 There are a few other names that have been tossed around, for CBs. I am not sure that these are super reliable though. One is Alessandro Dellavalle - he is a Torino player who played for Modena in Serie B last season. I have a feeling they will want to get younger in their back four, as nearly all of their players are 31-32. This might mean they keep the kid (who is 21). https://www.transfermarkt.us/alessandro-dellavalle/profil/spieler/704825 The other is Jao Goulart, who actually moved to Casa Pia just last year. He was in the second division in Portugal the year before. https://www.transfermarkt.us/joao-goulart/profil/spieler/537477 Also, some twitter account also says Pena accepted an offer back home in Peru and we're only waiting on PAOK to agree to terms (for what I assume is a loan).
pash Posted June 29 Posted June 29 Round three for Akpom? https://inpaok.com/867154/tha-proponeitai-monos-tou-o-akpom-ston-agiax/ I was wondering why he was talking so nicely about PAOK in recent interviews. Perhaps a little signal from him?
pash Posted June 30 Posted June 30 Greg Taylor should be walking through those gates any second now. Plane landed about twenty minutes ago. My little boy Mythou just had his contract renewed as well.
paokarag4 Posted June 30 Posted June 30 Great to see a bunch of our first choices get signed sealed and delivered. We really need a CB and to a lesser extend a striker (I am a Chalov believer but clearly we need another starter level striker and probably a 3rd choice as well). I have heard we will target another center mid too, I don't think we are as desperate there as other positions but we could do with an upgrade. But as it stands, I am comfortable going in to the Europa League qualifiers with Camara, Meite, Ozdoev as well as Pena all as options. 4 players for 2 positions and that isn't counting Thymianis who Lucescu clearly doesn't rate but is another potential. So far well done to the club for bringing in Meite, Kenny, and Taylor for the start of pre-season and giving them plenty of time to gel with the team.
pash Posted June 30 Posted June 30 If our third choice isn't one of our youth I will rescind my offer for you to date and marry my nonexistent daughter. A few days ago one of the blogs said Lucescu "wants to get another look at" Pena in preseason training. Like, guy, we already know you aren't going to play him. Why would you ruin the chance at a transfer (and just make the player more pissed off)? I think overall the club isn't really improved, but it seems they're at least moving faster. Having Pelkas from the start of the season is big, and Meite actually having the summer to train might also mean we see the version of him from two seasons ago. Who knows, maybe he'll surprise us.
PaokCT Posted June 30 Posted June 30 We def need one more CM and I’m fine with him being a youth player. Also a CB
PAOKSYD Posted June 30 Posted June 30 Our squad is very very average. Great were fianlly moving, ala we need 4-5 first 11 quality players if we want to challenge
pash Posted July 1 Posted July 1 Metrosport says these are the three guys on our radar. Anyone strike you folks' fancies? https://www.transfermarkt.us/luka-jovic/profil/spieler/257462 <-- kind of an injury history, decent age and very high wage. Probably knows Andrija though https://www.transfermarkt.us/matheus-saldanha/profil/spieler/740059 <-- wants to leave Hungary, but would not be free. Decent numbers. https://www.transfermarkt.us/carlos-vinicius/profil/spieler/525287 <-- a bit on the older side
PaokCT Posted July 1 Posted July 1 Out of all the strikers rumored this summer, Jovic is the one I would go with. 1
paokarag4 Posted July 2 Posted July 2 (edited) Jovic would have to be the toughest of all three mentioned names. Even though his career has stalled, he is still a big name and only 27. Add to that the fact he has Real Madrid and AC Milan (amongst other top tier teams) on his resume, a lot would have to fall into place for him to choose us. Surely his wage demands would blow us away, he would have to take a massive pay cut. I can't see 1.4-1.8 million a year being enough to get him over the line. I could be very wrong with the financial aspect of Jovic, but it's hard to see it eventuating. Edited July 2 by paokarag4
PaokCT Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Bye bye Konstantelias. Rumors are he agreed to a contract with Stuttgart. Let’s see how much the sale is for. We now have a gaping hole in our attack. Use that money to bring in Jovic, and need to buy an AMC. I DONT want to go into the season with Taison and Pelkas starting
pash Posted July 2 Posted July 2 You may have jumped the gun, there are reports that the Bri'ish are coming for him as well.
Blackhawk Posted July 2 Author Posted July 2 Not sure what to make of all these Konstantelias rumors. Since it appears that the Kotarski sale is stalling, I will not be surprised if we decide to accept the offers from Germany and England. However I would not accept anything below 25 mil. Jonny Otto signed with Alaves, which was expected for a while now. The Tissoudali transfer was officially announced today. We will be getting around 1.5 mil for him. Another player that will most likely leave PAOK is Pena, who will sign with a team in Peru, which basically means we will need to sign another midfielder.
pash Posted July 2 Posted July 2 InPAOK is saying the three strikers I mentioned up above are all no-gos. https://inpaok.com/867474/kataligei-se-for-o-paok/ Puttering around the advanced search options in transfermarkt gives....well, a lot of options. The only ones that look like they've seen action in several leagues are...well, Vinicius and Petkovic, who are implied not to be on the list. I don't get, though, why 6 million euros are too much for a player. Since when are we that poor? Why are we nickel and diming this transfer period? Super unimpressive tbh... 1
pash Posted July 4 Posted July 4 Taison re-signed and the team posted this, which I think is a pretty solid short. In B team news, Filon (CB) and Goumas (AM) are now moving on to Levadiakos.

This is what annoys the hell out of a lot of fans. Are we never gonna make a big splash signing that’s not “free”? Why not sign a big time forward with the money we have, then a CM. Get some momentum going into next year. Sell jerseys, tickets…etc. At some point , this nickel and diming will come back to bite us. Instead the team is resigning players your age.
pash Posted July 4 Posted July 4 My own version of uncle Mitso told me a few weeks ago that "the team doesn't actually have money because all of the player sales mean the money goes to Russia first, then it has to be transferred over." Which is a load of horseshit. Why aren't we BUYING the difference makers?
Blackhawk Posted July 4 Author Posted July 4 From what I heard from my own trusty uncle Mitso the team has set aside upto 2 mil for a striker's salary and additional sum for a possible purchase price. Apparently there are two strikers we are talking to right now and the goal is to sign one of them by the time the team leaves for Holland. 1
pash Posted July 5 Posted July 5 It's being alleged that we were poking around this guy: https://www.transfermarkt.us/walid-cheddira/profil/spieler/521407
pash Posted July 5 Posted July 5 (edited) As always, take with a grain of salt. SDNA says Cagliari wants him for 4mm, which would be a big overpayment considering his contract is up in a year. He showed up last year as a possible acquisition for us too, but probably just because he's Romanian. I still doubt this report. For yesterday's Walid Cheddira stuff - inPAOK says that he's our second choice as CF. -edit- some more fun stuff. Kacper Urbanski appears to be on the outs with his club (Bologna), who has a contract through next year. This one seems unlikely to me. https://www.transfermarkt.us/kacper-urbanski/profil/spieler/699442 Metrosport had a bit on Akpom, saying that while his contract is doable by us (1.5mm), Ajax is looking to recoup a significant amount of money for him, since they paid a lot to get him in the first place. However, they're over a barrel as they obviously are desperate to get rid of him. The site claims (and I agree) that this seems like something that will get resolved very late in the summer, for whoever gets him. Edited July 5 by pash
