paokarag4 Posted March 30 Posted March 30 After years of lacking a quality striker, all of sudden the Ethniki has 3 playing at a high level + Tzimas about to join a Premier League side. And you can throw in Kostoulas to that mix, although I am not sure that he actually has a natural position and I don't think he is an out and out striker. As a general rule, I don't think Greek footballers should be moving at such a young age to England. It didn't work out for Tzolis, Tsimikas really had to bide his time and was almost unsighted for a whole season until becoming a trusted depth player. Mavropanos went to Arsenal super young and eventually had to move to Germany for 2-3 years before moving back to EPL. I just don't think it suits our young players, especially so early in their professional careers. Different to go back as a more seasoned professional who has spent a few years playing abroad. Which is why I think moving to Germany should always be the priority. Beyond that, Portugal, Belgium and even Holland are a good smaller step-up before making a bigger leap. These countries and leagues have a reputation for developing talent and being patient. Unlike your England's, Spain's and Italy's which are a lot more cut throat. I hope Tzimas is the exception, Brighton has become known for signing talents and on selling them for a big profit. There is always added pressure and expectation when you come with a decently sized price tag. Good luck to the kid and I am sure he will get his shot with the Ethniki in the near-ish future. 4
Dean97 Posted March 30 Posted March 30 We are all hoping Tzimas makes it in the epl with Brighton. But I agree that the young Greeks should go to a Portugal or Holland etc to build themselves up more before going to a higher level league. Germany seems like the best destination for Greeks for some reason. Italy not bad either. England has been the most challenging. 1
pash Posted March 30 Posted March 30 Greeks are afraid of weight training and it shows when they go to play in England
HellasLEAF Posted March 30 Posted March 30 King Karetsas at it again!! 👀 https://x.com/HellasFooty/status/1906399620898435190?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^tweet 1
gk2033 Posted March 30 Posted March 30 Christos Alexiou cb currently on primavera inter is slowly getting called up to the senior inter side.. one to watch as he shows a lot of progress and is very athletic (19) 2
Dean97 Posted March 31 Posted March 31 (edited) EPO and Jovanovic are looking at possibly bringing in Nectarios Triantis in. He’s a CDM/CB that plays for Hibernian in Scotland. On loan from Sunderland. Born in Australia to Greek parents. We need someone tall and physical in the 6 role. Would be good for depth too. He has been called up for Australia but didn’t play. So let’s see. https://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport/football/sunderland-afc/sunderland-player-international-tussle-snub-5053715 Edited March 31 by Dean97 1

What's his chest hair situation? Is there sufficient hamburger meat to cover the bun??? 1
Dutch Eagle Posted April 2 Author Posted April 2 Maybe way too early but saw that a young Greek scored for Stuttgart U19 against Barcelona U19 in the UEFA Youth League. His name is Matthaios Tsigkas and he is 17 years old. Five years from now it will be clear if he is material for the Ethniki or one of many that did not make the final jump.
PaokCT Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Already capped at Greece U 19 level. 2 games 1 goal. So he is on the NT radar 2

Dean97 Posted April 19 Posted April 19 I believe if your good enough your old enough. As shown in our last game the young guys can go. They’ve even lifted the team at a higher level. Χριστός Ανέστη 3
Dean97 Posted May 24 Posted May 24 (edited) I really hope this player joins us. We need a tall CDM that can tackle well. Also someone to provide back up to Zafeiris and Mouzakitis. I believe he can replace Kourbelis soon, since he’s getting older and playing in Saudi. https://greekherald.com.au/sports/nectarios-triantis-withdraws-from-socceroos-training-camp/ He has also withdrew from the Australian squad. We have friendlies coming up so let’s see if he has decided to represent Greece. Edited May 24 by Dean97 1
HellasLEAF Posted May 24 Posted May 24 I'm surprised he hasn't been talked about more reading up on him. Big potential with him size, confidence on the ball, good passing and tackling. He would be another great addition! 1
Antaeus7 Posted August 16 Posted August 16 The future for Greek football is looking very promising. 1
