To be fair I didn't want us to sign him in the first place but he's actually looked pretty decent and kind of won me over. Our one major signing intended to be in the first 11 and he's injured for at least 6 months. That's just great. Edited August 20, 2021 by Bananas
pash Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 Looks like Soares might be out for as long as 3 weeks. Fortunately that's one position where there's depth (though who knows how good it is)...
Blackhawk Posted August 22, 2021 Author Posted August 22, 2021 Well the team should get a proper LB and then have Vierinha available as a back up for both RB and LB position.
pash Posted August 29, 2021 Posted August 29, 2021 El Kaddouri out for 4-6 weeks. Have we ever had a player more fragile than this guy?
pash Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 Andrija Zivkovic apparently tested positive for covid while on international duty. Hope he feels better soon!
Blackhawk Posted September 17, 2021 Author Posted September 17, 2021 Crespo has suffered a biceps fracture in yesterdays game and will miss approximately 15 days of action.
Blackhawk Posted September 20, 2021 Author Posted September 20, 2021 Looks like Vieirinha's injury is not serious and he might be available for Wednesday's game.
Blackhawk Posted October 7, 2021 Author Posted October 7, 2021 El Kaddouri and Varela returned to full practices today. Ingason took part in in some portions of the practices.
paokarag4 Posted October 7, 2021 Posted October 7, 2021 Ingason is the big one, he'll probably need some time to get up to speed even when he returns but he is key to our back 4. 1
pash Posted October 8, 2021 Posted October 8, 2021 Assuming he ever gets healthy, team might look real different in the back half of the season (since Jaba is returning as well). Perhaps Oliveira will even make an appearance in the last game or two.
pash Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 Sounds like Ingason took part in the whole training session. Probably still a ways away from his return, but progress nonetheless.
Blackhawk Posted October 13, 2021 Author Posted October 13, 2021 Sidcley got injured in practice today and his status for Sunday's game is uncertain. In the end two U21 PAOK players came down with COVID, and are now in quarantine. The players in question are Tsiggaras and Tsaousis (B team). The other three (Koutsias, Michailidis, Lyratzis) are under a close watch by the medial staff. We will have issues if Michailidis is not available.

It's a fair point. Speaking of Varela, am I right to be expecting his departure from us at the end of the season?
Blackhawk Posted October 14, 2021 Author Posted October 14, 2021 You can expect that all you want but I doubt it will happen if Lucescu is still around. Same goes for Biseswar. Michailidis practiced with the team after passing two COVID tests, so I expect a Mihaj/Varela - Michailidis CB duo on Sunday.
pash Posted October 14, 2021 Posted October 14, 2021 Particularly if Varela's game improves as the season progresses. I bet you it will. Biseswar has been very good but clearly can't play every game anymore. Wouldn't be surprised if they offer him another year at a slightly reduced salary, letting him get Vukic-like playing time. Kagawa clearly won't be renewed, so the bigger question to me is: will the team move for a new AM this winter, or wait until the summer?
paokarag4 Posted October 15, 2021 Posted October 15, 2021 I'd say we'll be moving for an attacking mid in January, whether we are able to find someone adequate or get who we want is the issue. It may also depend on what form El Kaddouri returns in, does Lucescu plan to use him as a no.10 or a winger.

They all miraculously start to play better as their contracts come up for renewal.

There is already rumor that we are after some midfielder from Surinam who is Biseswar's teammate on the national team.
pash Posted October 15, 2021 Posted October 15, 2021 Legit the only guy from that team who seems worth a damn (and he's a winger). So hopefully not! https://www.transfermarkt.us/sheraldo-becker/profil/spieler/188888
Blackhawk Posted October 26, 2021 Author Posted October 26, 2021 Sidcley out for 3 weeks Mitrita out for 4 weeks Both with sprains. Sidcley is a big loss, since we only have Vieirinha on that side and he is not 100% fit.
Blackhawk Posted October 27, 2021 Author Posted October 27, 2021 Kurtic and Tsiggaras are back from COVID protocols and are available for action. Ingason is taking part in full practices.
Blackhawk Posted November 2, 2021 Author Posted November 2, 2021 Douglas Augusto had to leave today's practice. The fear is that he sustained a sprain. More details will be know tomorrow after an MRI. He will most likely miss the game against Copenhagen.
