  1. I agree but who is out there that is quality and available. I'd like to see Spyropoulos sign for us (especially now that we seem to have another Ouaddou situation evolving with Raul Bravo & his wife). <_< I still think we should have kept Okkas but it's hardly viable to resign him now. Georgallidis (Cyprus' goalkeeper) has great athleticism and he should be signed to compete with Sifakis to take over from Nikopolidi. I also think that we should try and lure Aloneftis back to Greece because he is developing into a paixtara! Other than that I don't see who we could sign that would be available to us and would make a difference file.
  2. I have one thing to say about Nicolae Dica who I've seen a lot of...PAIXTARA!!!! dude how old is he? He's 27. Here's what he looks like:http://www.uefa.com/competitions/ucl/playe...9304/index.html He's a really good little player. Clever, gets goals and has class in his play. good good seems very promising but i kinda doubt the transfer will go through ;) I read hes bio on wikipedia and said that he was a good attacking midfielder and thats something we will need, especially when djole goes. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=AscyacSMT5chttp://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=1MHbrMaO1Ks

  5.   dont be ridiculous OSFP cant afford him, and hes 31 - not washed up hes been wasting time with Chelsea....his heart is in Milan, if hes leaving London, its to finish his career with Milan...Greece no way, he wont do it, and his wife wont either. Players mature at different ages. Karagounis is 30 and plays like a 35 year old whereas Zola was still a top class player at 38 years old. Sheva is ONLY 31 but everyone that follows the Premier League knows that his legs have gone. He was a player that relied on 3 things, his pace & movement (as 1) and his finishing. He's lost his pace and that has affected his movement. He is no longer world class file and that shows by the fact that the favourites with the bookies to sign him at the end of the year are his old club Dynamo Kiev. Getting him would be no more of a BAM then when we signed Ribo.
  6. The following was from Sportime.gr
  7. I pray Kyriakos doesn't come back to Greece, he's way too good for Greece and if he came to Oly he'd ruin himself. If the fans never warmed to Kapsis imagine the reception Kyriako will be getting every game. He is capable of moving to one of Germany's BIG clubs or even one of England's or Italy's very good clubs. For me, he is one of the best centre-backs in Europe and Olympiakos would be the wrong move for him, the Ethniki, & Olympiakos. As for Delgado, why not? Ivic is sooo keen on him let's see what he can do. As for Cleyton, I like him alot but what would he offer that's different? He isn't that different from Lua Lua, I'd like to see a forward that has lots of pace and makes runs off the shoulder of the last man. Why not be ambitious and go for unhappy former greats like Shevchenko?
  8. He came on as a substitute on 74 mins with Man City winning 3-0 but the only thing he did was commit a foul and a handball. Final Score: Man City 3 - 1 Middlesborough
  9. Yes but this was an exceptional win inspired by his changes. I'm not saying he's the answer, but I've consistenly said that Ivic & Kokkalis are the poison of this team, he's just a manager trying to do the best with what he's got. And I certainly disagree with Evalagoal, this squad is weaker than last years imo and Lemonis is trying to find the right balance with what he has. Having said that, the last time we had a truly exceptional result in the CL (without Bajevic) was when Lemonis was in charge and we beat Leverkusen 6-2, look what went on to happen after that! So let's not get carried away with the success but Lemonis has to have at least earned respect & a chance now.
  10. A goalkeeper is not always responsible for how many goals he concedes, the defence is. If the defence is providing little protection then there isn't much a keeper can do. Look at the world's great goalkeepers... Seamen, Schmiechal, Zoff, Buffon, etc. They were all playing behind an excellent defence. However, you can still be excellent and concede many. The Russian Lev Yashin is widely considered to be the greatest goalkeeper ever. The World Goalkeeper of the Year award is named "The Yashin Award". Lev Yashin used to play Ice Hocky before football and he was scouted when a football coach saw him play in goal and conceded 7!!!! BUT if he wasn't for him they'd have conceded 27! Today the best keeper in the world imo is Buffon, others will say Cech, etc. Whoever you rate... imagine putting him in goal for OFI, do you think he'd concede less goals than Nikopolidi? Obviously not because strikers would get more chances and easier ones against him because of the poor defence. Konstantopoulos is a goalkeeper that consistently won player of the month for Hartlepool... now I don't care what league you're in, if a GK is winning awards like that over strikers and attacking midfielders then in the very least he must be an impressive shot stopper. He may not face a barrage of top class crossing but he must be great at shop stopping. The only way we know if he can handle the pressure of top level crossing, etc, is if we see him in that role. Hence, I'm not suggesting he should be Greece's number 1 but he deserves a chance, possibly in friendlies. Anyway, the point is, it doesn't matter that he conceded 4 goals if there was nothing he could do about any of them and the fact that Ipswich scored 4 past him doesn't make them a good side.
  11. Samaras: "I Want More!" http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,116...2757176,00.html
  12. Oxi re, omadara einai epidi evale tessara tou Coventry!
  13. This is a big game for Coventry, will they really not use their best players?
  14. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,116...2755939,00.html Bravo re!
  15. Beat me to it :P Was just going to say that Man Utd away is his chance to show that he is Premiership class. This is his opportunity to shine and earn a transfer to the big time. Man Utd won't play a first team in this but they'll still have some great talent on show, O'Shea, Anderson, etc. Konstantopoulos has to be at his best. Don't show-boat, don't take stupid risks, just be solid, show safe hands, and be confident in collecting crosses. Comanding his defence won't hurt other. Lead your club to vitory against the scum! :gr:
  16. I'm trembling with excitement!!!GIORGO GERA!!!!!! This is his last chance! He better approach this like it's a final! I'm excited but also nervous for him. He has the talent to be as good as Berbatov imo, he has to grasp that talent! Man City at home against 2nd division opposition (good opposition, but 2nd division nonetheless). Score 1 goal and he'll get another chance, score 2 goals and he's in the team for Saturday, score a hatrick & bring on Turkey! :P
  17. Both Greece & Cyprus should qualify...GERA PAIDIA!! :gr:
  18. That's true, however, some players would want to prove themselves in the only opportunity they get, which could make him dangerous! If he has any pride at all, he is a wounded animal right now ready to strike! The problem is, however, if Gekas, Lybe, Amanatidis & Salpi are playing well for their clubs then it's tough to justify Samaras' place in the team. I've criticised him ALOT in the past but that's only because he frustrates me. He has talent but isn't effective. I don't go on alot about Haristea, for example, because he has numerous limitations but at least he works hard. If Samaras strengthened, worked on his finishing a little and improved his fitness and work rate he could be a BIG player for us and his team! He is (potentially) capable of becoming the next Berbatov! He has to work hard off the pitch to improve & work even harder on it to deliver. Maybe he needs to go on loan to re-find his feet? One thing's for sure though... he HAS to work harder off the pitch & on it.
  19. It's a shame he doesn't do as well for Greece <_<
  20. To say he's the best he has to prove himself at the top level first. If Coventry draw a Premiership side in the cup and they are raining crosses on him and whipping shots at him and he performs well then we can say he's the best keeper we have. I don't understand why he went to Coventry when he was easily good enough to go to AEK. I haven't seen him that much, from the handful of games I have seen he seems solid. He needs to make the transition from solid to great now... the time is right for him.
  21. The word "idiot" comes to mind! I've always said that he doesn't deserve a place on the ethniki, not because of ability but his weakness and poor work rate render him ineffective... of course this is just my opinion, it's not like we have a wealth of talent up front so giving him chances was understandable, even if it wouldn't have been my approach... but now he REALLY should not get a look in at all! I mean, he's put himself in a position where he won't get playing time, why? Because he gets great wages that's why! When City came in for him he practically rebelled at Heerenveen so he could make a move, now all these very good clubs (Boro, Betis, Lens, and BENFICA(!)) wanted him and he decided to stay and chase the contract? I'm so disappointed in him. If Gekas carries on his great form at Leverkusen, while Lybe is top scorer in Greece, and Salpi is contesting him at PAO (like last year beasically), how can a player that won't be on the pitch justify a place?? I'm really gutted. I was so excited at the prospect of him revitalising his career.
  22. Guys, I'm watching Shalke vs Leverkusen. Gekas just scored to equalise for Leverkusen (1-1) and he pointed to his black armband (for the fires of course), then pointed to the sky (or God/heaven). It was a lovely moment. :gr:
  23. Classless? It was against England ffs!!! In that game Maradona scored the greatest goal ever... he also scored the second greatest goal when he dribbled past their whole team! :P Guys it's impossible to say who the greatest ever player was, but I have to disagree with my friend Tsalgik. If Pele was around today he would not be at Reggina, and Maradona would not be at Weder. Many people say this because the fitness levels were lower and because modern players have refined the skills that players liked Pele conceived. However, if Pele was around today he would have access to the facilities that the modern players have and so he would be even fitter, faster, etc. For example, Jesse Owens is one of the greatest athetes of the modern era. He set numerous world records in the 1936 Olympics, including the 100m. However, back then he set a world record at 10.1 seconds. Today he wouldn't even get a medal with that time. Does that mean that he's not as good an athlete as the modern sprinters? Of course not. If Owens had the training facilities, dietitians, etc available today he would still be the greatest. As for learning the skills, yes someone like Ronaldinho can do more "tricks" than Pele, because he has learned to master the tricks Pele had as well as create his own. BUT, if Pele was playing today he would also have mastered and created other skills. For example, most people here probably know more political systems than Plato. Plato hasn't witnessed Communism, Fascism, Liberal Democracy, etc. Does that mean that we have a greater political mind than Plato because we do know about these systems? Of course not. So, you have to place each player into the context of their time. This is why, for me, Puskas was probably the greatest player ever, because he was sooo much better than anyone else in his time. England we considered to be the best team in the world and Hungary, inspired by Puskas, went and beat them 6-3 at Wembley and 7-1 in Hungary! Could you imagine that happening today in a match between Italy and Brazil, or Argentina and France? I think players like Vava, Zico, Garrincha, Baresi, Rivelino, Socrates, Cruyff, Beckenbauer, Platini, and Zidane also deserve a special mention. P.S. Irlandos, I'm disgusted at you! How could YOU of all people not mention George Best? Den trepese re? :P P.S. 2, Although I'm only 23 years old so I've seen all these players in MANY old videos, as a child my most cherished videos were not cartoons or family films but a video on the hostory of the Brazilian and Argentinian football! However, seeing videos isn't the same as living in the era, and there are many players that I haven't seen that much of. For example, how good was Domazos? Or Hatzipanayis? Were they in the class of these guys? Can they be classed as legends?
  24. His talent (skill-wise) isn't in question, we know he has skill. After Lybe, he is probably our most naturally gifted striker. However, he hasn't worked hard enough to maintain his position at City, simple as that. Bianchi is different class so we won't even compare him to Samaras. Mpenza is a great athlete and gets goals so its also understandable why he is ahead of Samaras. But Dicov, Vassel, and Corradi should not even be comparable to Samara, and yet they have been so that only proves he hasn't done enough. In other words it's not a case of Samaras "coming back and biting them in the ass", they took a big gamble on him and believed in him and he hasn't paid them back! Hopefully this is a lesson to him and gets his act together. The media has linked him with Lens (no longer interested), Betis (position now unknown), Benfica (interested) and Middlesborough (Very keen). Middlesborough were also interested in Alfonso Alves and Inter's Adriano on loan, and according to a British newspaper (Daily Mirror) they've shelved those moves in order to concentrate on Samaras, so I'm guessing he'll go there. However, problem is Middlesborough seem to be a dead-end club. They have a terrible fan turn-out at their games, they've just lost there only natural goalscorer (Yakubu) and they play some poor football. They actually remind me of City last year!! Which ever team he goes to one can draw positives: Betis play in the Spanish league which is technically superb, nonetheless he may be at the stage where he needs to start scoring consistently which may suggest that Benfica would be the best move for him. Also, Benfica have a slight problem penetrating defences and they drop a lot of points because of it. Our Ethniki suffers from a similar problem and if he learns how to find solutions to such problems he may be able to carry it into matches with the Ethniki. Having said that, I'm a believer that playing against top opposition consistently keeps your level high because you're forced to maintain top form to compete, so Betis and Boro are preferable to Benfica in that respect. So which ever way he goes it could turn out to be positive for him, on the condition that he ups his work-rate on and off the pitch! Please do it re Giorgo!
