  1. He's scored the opneing goal for Benfica tonight against Copenhagen away. :gr:
  2. Man City are playing in the Carling Cup against Bristol City and they have a B team out (8 changes from the weekend, including players like Logan who are making their debut). And Samaras isn't even on the bench! Dicov is on the bench ahead of Samaras. Is Sven on crack or what? Dicov isn't half the player Samaras is! It's time to go Giorgo, if Sven isn't picking you ahead of Dicov there's no point in fight for your place, you'll never get another chance!
  3. If Samaras was to ever go to PAO, it wouldn't be Salpi losing his place, it would be Papadopoulos.
  4. Maradona was more exciting, but Pele was better. Having said that, Puskas was probably better than both.
  5. Gekas has scored today for Leverkusen, who lead 3-0 at home to Karlsruhe. They are still playing.
  6. Latest rumour is that Real Betis are interested in him! That would be a good move if he can secure it!
  7. probably not, sven doesn't seem to like him mpenza is ahead of him and mpenza's not even first choice, also i think vassell is still there and corradi too. he may play in the carling cup. when middlesborough were linked with him man city wanted 4million pounds for him thus pricing him out of a move That's right, and that actually confuses me. If they really don't want him why did they price him out of a move. Surely they don't really value him at
  8. I disagree file, he did perform badly and deserves to be on his out. Look at the difference between Samaras' performance and Mpenza's, Bianchi now they've signed him. He was too lazy, too slow and too weak and that is why the City fans don't like him any more. Many people in football consider talent/skill the most important thing, if that was the case though Denilson would have been the greatest player ever! "Effectiveness" is what's inportant and Samaras isn't effective. Games roll by and its like he isnt on the pitch. I mean what attributes does he actually have? He's weak, slow, lazy, misses too many chances, his movement isn't great and he is poor in the air for his height. Diladi ti prosfairi se mia omada? I've been saying this for ages, and I've been mocked by some of the posters here, now he's no longer in the Greece starting 11 and is a 5th or 6th choice striker for a mid-table English team. He'll end up in Greece or Holland unless he ups his workrate, strength, and improves on his finishing.
  9. Man City are playing their first game of the season under the guidance of Sven Goran Erikssen. Samaras isn't in the team, not even on the bench. And with Middlesborough withdrawing their interest it looks like his time in England is over.
  10. They had an article today that Ericson welcomed a player by saying:Welcome to Man UTD and the whole room went crazy. Also that many of the transfers some of his FRIENDS  saw on dvds and told him that they are good and that some the scouts of city.   To be fair he has signed some good players though... Elano is a paihtara and Geovanni is talented. Bianchi is experienced too, etc. So it doesnt matter how he knows them as long as he knows them. I've never seen Ronaldo play in real life but I know he's quality ;) As for Samaras, he should go. He's too lazy and too weak to ever fit into the Prem. Imo he'll fail in France too and either end up back in Holland or in Greece. He's def got some talent but he isnt effective.
  11. Papastathopoulos' absence didnt cost us the game mate. They barely threatened us and their goal was an individual error by the GK. So whether we had Papa or not didnt make a difference. Imo, the difference between victory & defeat came due to 4 reasons:1) Too often the defence/defensive midfield looked for the long ball. Everytime we got the ball down we were able cause problems, otherwise we lost the ball too easily. 2) Our big players, Ninis and Mitroglou didnt perform. 3) We werent bold enough. The defensive line wasnt high enough, we should have REALLY gone for them. 4) And of course the individual mistake of the gk which tactics cannot cater for. If you really want to dwelve deeply into footballing strategic analysis you could argue that actually you're correct because had Papastathopoulo played then maybe we'd have been more composed at the back, hence the defence would have had the confidence to bring the ball forward and play it to the midfield instead of playing a long ball. Also, his presence may have meant that the defence would have had the confidence to play a high defensive line. Hence his mere presence may have eradicated 2 of the 4 reasons that we didnt win. HOWEVER, the reason I dont place that much emphasis on his absense is because these problems may have been eradicated even without Papa playing. Nioblias failed somewhat therefore yesterday imo. On the bright side, he proved he'll be a great manager for years to come and possibly one for our NT. As for the players: NINIS: we all know about and I think this tournament should that he should be moulded into a dekari instead of a right winger. My only worry is that he hasnt really turned up at the big games. I know he's young, but against Olympiakos, Lens, and the 2 games against Spain (i.e. the big games) he went missing. I hope thats not a sign that he cant handle pressure. These next couple of years of development will determine whether he becomes a good Greek player, or World class!! He has to work hard. PAPASTATHOPOULOS: I said months ago that he should be given a chance on our NT but Aekrossoponti argued against it for the time being... having seen him more I've probably shifted to Aekrossoponti's view abit more. I believe he should be in our NT squad and slowly blooded in but he isnt quite ready yet. BUT, BIG FUTURE!! Can go all the way to the top! MITROGLOU: Def has talent but misses too many chances. I think he can have a great career in Greece. SIAKAS: Was a rock at the back for us yesterday, reminds me of a young Anztas. PAPADOPOULOS: Very impressed with him. Clever, confident and has huge potential. PLIATSIKAS: A bit naive (as was seen in his sending off against Germany) but very committed and has good potential. The talent is there guys, we just have to hone it now.
  12. F*** SAKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
  13. 5 added minutes!!! C'MON GREECE!!!
  14. This is disgusting from the Spanish players! The ref is a right pussy!
  15. The ref should be booking them for this s%$#!!
  16. I dont know about that but I agree that if we equalize we'll win the game. They arent that good they're there for the taking!
  17. HT: Greece 0 - 1 Spain. We've definitely been the better side and had some glorious chances. Ninis and Mitroglou with poor finishing of all people otherwise this game would be over. Papadopoulos and Siakas have been fantastic. Ninis needs to up his game and start drifting centrally more. I'm s%$#! scared about Boukouvalas' booking too. They are there for the taking, we just need to be abit more bold!! GERA ELLADARA!!
  18. Ma ti m#$%!s o termatofilakas re!
  19. GAMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! WE SHOULD BE 2-0 UP!!!
  20. PAMMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! GERA, GERA,.... :gr: :gr: :gr: :gr: :gr:
  21. Leverkusen played an amatuer side in a friendly and won 15-1, Fanis Gekas scored 7!!! That's 9 goals in his last 2 games :P
  22. Me too! I was supposed to finish work at 6:30pm (30 mins before the game) but I told my boss (who's a German woman): ME: I have to leave an hour early today miss. BOSS: Why is there some kind of emergency? ME: Yes. BOSS: Would you care to step into my office? (We go there) BOSS: May I ask what the emergency is? ME: Yes, we are about to become European Champions again and I have to be home to see the match. BOSS: Are you being serious? <_< ME: Yes! If I dont see us win I may contemplate suicide and then I'll miss a lot more work then 1 hour... besides I can always make this hour up by not taking a lunch break tomorrow. BOSS: (shakes her head and smiles) ME: OH COME ON!!! You are just discriminating against me because we beat you 3-2 in the semis! BOSS: Must I remind you that you're greatest success in football was led by a German? ME: :o BOSS: ;) ME: Exactly, King Otto did soo much for Germanic-Greco relations, dont spoil them now! BOSS: Oh God... ok go, but you have to make up the time tomorrow. ME: YESSS, I COULD KISS YOU! BOSS: Dont you dare, just go! :P True story! I should have climbed on her desk and started jumping up and down and chanting SIKOSE TO, TO g*****ENO, DEN MPORO, DEN MPORO NA PERIMENO!!! :gr: (Popo, I'm going to drive my neighbours crazy today!!!) :gr: :gr:
