  1. I dont think he'll do as well (maybe 10 - 12 league goals) but not because of the reasons your friend gives but simply because this was a great season for him and I can't see him hitting the heights again. Because he can finish Bochum relied on him, whereas at a bigger club they'll be other options too so they wont constantly look towards Gekas. A bit like the Francis Jeffers situation where he averaged 1 goal every 2 games at Everton and when he went to Arsenal he flopped. I hope I'm wrong. It all depends on his mentality. Either he'll want to improve and work hard or he'll think he's the big time now and flop. Personally, I have one message for him... GAMA TOUS TIN MANA FANI!!! :gr: :P
  2. It's funny how the Greek league is sooooooo poor that even the championship is better and then these types of games happen:Aris 2-2 West Ham (Aris are displaying some real "awful" passing here, and that first Aris goal is "awful" :P ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jErUPiyn_Gk PAOK 1 - 0 Arsenal (And this was an Arsenal side that won the double in England!) But hey maybe Arsenal saved it in the 2nd leg??? NAAAAHHHH! ARSENAL 1 - 1 PAOK (I was at this game... ah the memories) PAO 1 - 0 Arsenal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzZqTt121eY There was also the 2 draws between PAO and Arsenal (2-2 and 1-1)... Now as I said, the Prem for me is the best league in the world at this present moment in team. But in various matches Greek teams have held their own against English opposition in recent years... and trust me, teams like Aris, PAOK, OFI, Panionios, etc. would hammer Wolves!
  3. In terms of financial organisation yes Wolves would be a preferable option but how on earth can you say that Wolves are a bigger club that PAOK???Finance isnt everything in football, Fiorentina and Leeds are bust, they are MUCH bigger clubs than Wolves! If PAOK wasn't in the financial situation it's in then there would be no contest between PAOK and Wolves and I can't believe you think the level of football is higher in the Championship! I'm a strong advocate of the English league. I keep saying the Premiership is the strongest league in the world and the lower leagues in England are stronger than anywhere else, but dont get carried away. Coventry is a poor move for him... he's a m#$%! if he goes there!
  4. Are you mad??? If PAOK, Aris, etc played a team like Wolves they would hammer them!
  5. If he stays in the Championship he's a dumbass! He should go on trial with a Prem club or go back to Greece with one of the top clubs!
  6. Who are you, Delilah? Leave Samson's hair alone! :P
  7. I've been saying for months now that he should be given a chance with the Ethniki, but I cant blame Otto. If he picked a keeper from Hartlepool and he wasn't great then imagine the stick he'd get! The Greek clubs are to blame. Nikopolidis is finished, Galinovic and Edebe are below average, Sorrentino is leaving, etc. Someone give him a chance!! He's a keeper and is winning player of the month awards!!!
  8. According to the British newspaper, Daily Mirror, Tottenham are considering moving for Katsourani. Great move for him if gets the chance!
  9. 44' mins gone, Bochum are leading title challengers Shalke 2-1 and Gekas just scored the 2nd! Geka eise trela!
  10. Joey Barton, the little prick, gave this interview to Skysports. I agree Samaras has been poor this year but you dont come out and give an interview like this. You discuss it in the changing room and try and find solutions. Mind you, this is why the little F***er will never get a shot at the England NT. Barton: We need more quality By Mark Buckingham - Created on 23 Apr 2007 A largely disappointing season for City has seen manager Stuart Pearce bemoan the lack of money available for new signings. Though results have picked up in recent weeks, the plain-spoken Barton insists the club can not keep gambling on budget buys. "There is no way Reading have spent more than us and no way Everton have either, but they seem to have over-achieved," Barton told BBC Radio Manchester. "Bolton have not spent big either. I know they paid a lot of money for Nicolas Anelka, but we paid a lot for Georgios Samaras. "You have to face facts. We have not brought quality in. One or two have done all right, but not enough to take them onto the next level. "There has to be a plan. Everyone seems to have one in place, but at the moment it just feels this club is praying to get the right players in the summer. "We can't gamble on players who have scored six goals in six games in the Pontins League or in Belgium." And, with the team failing to score a Premiership goal at The City of Manchester Stadium since New Year's Day, Barton accepts home fans have not got value for money this season. He added: "I have to be brutally honest, if I was a fan I wouldn't have paid to watch us at home this season. "I know a lot of the supporters are umming and ahhing about whether to buy their season tickets. "They go out and work hard. It is a lot of money to buy a season ticket at our place and they are not getting value for money."
  11. No more rumours, its official. Got to feel sorry for Bochum though. http://www.uefa.com/footballeurope/news/ki...sid=530129.html :gr:
  12. Nini has been called up to the U-21 squad! :gr: http://www.sportime.gr/football_inside.asp...rticle_id=44564
  13. Cyprus': squad for the upcoming qualifiers: http://www.uefa.com/competitions/euro/news...sid=517878.html
  14. SCOTLAND 16??? Romania 14? Ukraine 11... Cameroon 18? FIFA officials are smoking crack!
  15. File mou I disagree. Greece dont really play counter attacking football. We are defensive and when we do attack we are either direct or play a patient build up game, i.e. get the ball to the nearest blue shirt. Because of this, imo we need a forward who can make things happen by himself and who can feed from scraps. That striker is Salpi! ;)
  16. Shame? I think it's actually quite refreshing! It shows football can be more than just big clubs and money. Bravo re Geka paihtara! :nw: :gr:
  17. File mou he is still fantastic though. Everyone has bad games. Imbrahimovic is very good but not a goal scorer. Kallstrom has a wonderful left foot but again doesnt get many goals and he's more of a midfielder than a forward anyway. Larsson is a paihtara re file that strikers fear into the hearts of the opposition.
  18. Dont see why not, he's still the best Sweden have!
  19. Machlas must have the record Stelios gets goals to and has had more than 10 in past seasons at Bolton.
  20. There's no bitterness, if Samaras wants to be lazy and blow his talent then F*** him. I live in England and practically support Man City and Bolton because they have Greeks in the team so trust me I want Samaras to do well! If he wants to be lazy then fine its his problem not mine so although its frustrating I won't be bitter. HOWEVER, as a Greek I want the best for Greece and his presence is stopping Salpi or Lybe featuring, both of whom are better players thats why I'm frustrated, but not bitter. As for him playing well in the last game... Maybe its because you're used to watching Ofi so your standards are low :P (just joking dude). The fact is, Stuart Pearce, the Man City fans and the media gave criticised him for his lack of contribution. Also, when Samaras scored the commentator said "He's done nothing all game but has popped up with a goal!". At the end of the game Alan Shearer (acting as a pundit) said "If City want to go on a run in the cup they'll need alot more from the front 2". So I dont know how you can call the performance, against PRESTON a good performance! As for Barton, he's just been called up to the England squad and Liverpool have shown interest in him. Trevor sinclair (former NT) provides many crosses, Ball (former PSV) works hard and whips in a decent ball and Dabo (former Inter Milan) player switches with Hamman, both of whom are good passers. That's still not mentioning the service Micah Richards provides from right back! Saying that the forwards dont get service is just not true, they just dont do anything with the ball! Like i said this could go on forever so lets just wait and see how his career progresses I just hope that Salpi gets a fair chance though.
  21. Like I said, stats can lie! Samaras has 3 in 6 which is a great record, but 1 was a HUGE deflection and all were against weak opposition, PLUS, imo he has offered nothing to the teams play. Whereas Salpi has made a difference in the teams play what ever position he played. Anway this is a conversation that could go on for ever, every one has there own opinions and thats the beauty of football and Phantis. Its great having discussions with various posters like Aekrossoponti, Loup, etc and we all see different things. I have formed my opinion about Samaras because I have seen him every week for 2 years not just the 6 ethniki matches. Hopefully he proves me wrong and bags a couple of goals against Turkey and starts producing for City because if not his days are numbered in the Prem and I guarantee if he goes to Greece he'll disappear from the ethniki. Aekrossoponti said that if Samaras went to Greece he'd have a Lybe type career, I think there's no way he'd be that successful, but let's say for arguments sake he was as good, look at what a fringe role Lybe plays! ;) Good luck Samara, and win us the game against the Turks! :gr:
