  1. Hey all, I've been really into sports podcasts lately, and think it would be a dream if there was an english language podcast about everything Greek football. Seeing as there doesn't seem to be one, this might be something I look into doing once a month as a hobby once my schedule opens up a bit (might be a fun summer project). Has anyone considered doing one? Id probably be a very frustrating host until I become more familiar with the game, but I would try to make up for it with top-shelf humor and celebrity guests, like Milas Kunis (maybe she'd be interested in cohosting). Does anyone know of anything like this that already exists? Podcast Addict is a great app for searching for them. The best Greek coverage I get is from a Benfica podcast.

  2. One of the greatest players of all time, Johan Cruyff, died of cancer today at the age of 68. Player for Ajax and Barcelona during his best years, as well as the great Dutch national team in 1970's. Later played few seasons in NASL, before returning to Holland to finish his career at Ajax and Feyenoord. He was a heavy smoker and died of lung cancer. He apparently smoked 5 packs of cigarettes a day. Heard Antoniadis on radio today saying that during the Wembley final in 1971 he saw Cruyff smoke one cigarette after another on the bench during half-time. Cruyff at Toumba in 1973 with Koudas.

  3. highlights in HD We looked really good if you ask me. Fortounis looks really dominate. Mitroglou is menacing, I think we need him in there. Iceland we gotta see Tachtsidis, Velios in there. Why didn't Holebas play?

  5. If we can end this 3-1...it would be a very important victory, psychology-wise. Our guys have let every opponent get into their heads, and it's shown.

  6. Can't believe we haven't noted yet - GREAT goal off of a free kick by Tzavellas. That left foot is made of gold.

  7. When the majority of one's career with the NT has been spent underachieving, that becomes the norm.

  8. I don't know if these truly are all but it must be the majority of the logos we've had. http://inpaok.com/111309/%CF%8C%CE%BB%CE%B1-%CF%84%CE%B1-%CF%83%CE%AE%CE%BC%CE%B1%CF%84%CE%B1-%CF%84%CE%BF%CF%85-%CF%80%CE%B1%CE%BF%CE%BA-pics/

  11. It'll be fine. We should be able to beat Montenegro, and we have enough players getting into form that we should finally start seeing some success. It's worrying that so few wingers are there. Tzavellas is there because he provides depth at LB and, as teke said, he's having a good season. If we play four at the back, Stafylidis will almost certainly start over him (as he should). I'd be more worried about our still-unsettled midfield.

  13. i should have said i like this formation. i said that im not a fan of siovas , i dont really rate the guy and i also rather saw oikonomou started ahead of him or at least called up a youngster instead of him. tzavellas is only there because holebas isnt fit. petsos is probably starting since he always plays for rapid and tachtsidis is sometimes used as a sub for genoa. streams for the game probably can be found here. http://livetv.sx/en/ and http://firstrowne.eu/

  14. Nikitas Siovas is the laziest defender, and he has a big mouth. I'd rather play Oikonomou, Kolovestsios, Tzanetopoulos, Chatziisaias, Risvanis, etc there (even though only Oikonomou got the call up)

  15. Just heard that one of the greatest players passed away. Johan Cruyff died today after a struggle against cancer. He was only 68 years old.

  16. There are no Greek wingers anyways so why play with them... This is close to best lineup we have, we play to our strengths at Centerback allowing Torosidis and Tzavellas to push farther up the field and act as wingers. The only issue I have is Siovas instead of Oikonomou. I guess Stafylidis could have been in over Tzavellas too. If we start the midfield he posted with Fortounis Mantalos Samaris and Petsos it would be the first time in a very long time we'd have so many technically gifted players start at the same time. Mitroglou should have a lot of service for this game with that lineup if he tries.

  18. SKibbe has the right idea. Imagine Papadopoulos-Sokratis-Manolas backline; Certainly one of the best in world football. Save Samaris, we are still fragile in midfield. Hopefully a couple of players can step up and take the reigns leading up to the WC qualifiers in September; this game of musical chairs in the middle will only spell disaster for the campaign.

  20. It`s not an ugly jersey, just plain and generic, which is what happens when you finish last in your group and aren`t considered to be relevant anymore.
