  1. I like the fact that we have 1 year trial with him. No more Stafylidis/Tsimikas at CB (hopefully). It's a clean slate and if we don't like what we see, we move on with no real financial implications.

  3. MLS is a business, just like every other professional sport in the US and Canada as opposed to Greek Superleague, which is a money laundering operation. The concept of filling a stadium to capacity in Greece is unattainable dream these days.

  4. For Toumba reconstruction PAOK needs a license to be issued by the Greek government. This license has been promised for the past 3 years, but is being delayed on purpose by the current Greek government. In my opinion, as long as the current government is in power, this license will never be issued. It's quite obvious that the current "Prime Minister" of Greece Evaggelos Marinakis will not allow the construction of the new Toumba to proceed. The funding is no issue in this delay, as the construction will be fully funded by Savvidis.

  5. Yeah, I remember a few months ago that we were thinking of playing in like, Volos or something. Probably not the worst choice of stadium, but it's awfully far away (and awfully close to Larissa, if you catch my drift).

  6. I've half given up following the stadium news as it really has dragged on, but as far as I can tell we've hit snags with the government over some funding(this may have been resolved) as well as issues with where we are going to play while the stadium is being built. There has been lots of flip flopping over the contract to play at the Kaftanzoglio. So a combination of those things has slowed everything right down unfortunately.

  7. Let’s assume that everyone is back and available this is what I hope Poyet would do. He likes the 4-3-3. So I hope he picks something like this: Vlachodimos Masouras Manolas Mavropanos Tsimikas Galanopoulos Fortounis Alexandropoulos Masouras Giakoumakis Tzolis

  8. Coaches need to have different tactics depending on the opponent. The problem with Greece under JVS is that we struggled to beat Kosovo, Georgia at home. Tactics too predictable, and easy to defend against. The away match to Sweden 1st half was the blue print, with the only exception is that we didn’t score. International coaching and Club coaching are very different. Poyet will be coaching a national team for the first time. He may do alright or better. To be honest if we can’t top NL group C then he may not be the right man. Let’s see who he picks and what tactics he uses.

  9. Spanoulis has retired from playing all together, I believe he recently coached a youth team of some sort.

  11. Well if we know one thing, Greeks are horrible gamblers. All the ones I know, including myself, lose at the casino!

  12. Thanassis, Calathes, Spanoulis (not sure if he still plays for the national team).

  14. Maropanos is ranked highest so guess what, he is the first CB, if not player period, picked, ahead of Sok, Siovas and Manolas. The figures are there for all to see. The team chosen based on the figures : Vlahodimos (Masouras?) Mavropanos. Manolas. Tsimikas Bouchalakis Siopis Bakasetas Masouras Tzolis Pavlidis I don't agree with. all these selections, I would prefer: Giakoumakis or Douvikas ahead of Pavlidis Limnios ahead of Tzolis (not Tziolis for those who don't know the diff) Fortounis, Ninis or even Pelkas ahead of Bakasetas. Galanopoulos or Alexandropoulos ahead of Siopis

  15. Well written, and detailed article, about Poyet. Doesn't fill me with too much confidence, to be honest.... https://worldfootballindex.com/2022/03/greece-gamble-on-gus-poyet-manager/

  16. Best option is AEL FC Arena. It's privately owned so Koulis can't try his dirty trick to delay things. I think in the end we will end up at Kaftanzoglio. All these press releases are a just moves to put pressure on the politicians to move things along.
