The2ndMouse
I am sure that most of us have memories from different eras of AEK history, and the older ones have many players from which to chose... But lets see the most favorite greek and foreign players between Phantis Members -- Mine are Thomas Mavros and Toni Savevski Mavros was the gratest talent I have ever seen (and I missed Nestoridis so I cant compare). Rain or sun, injured or not, Happy or sad this man could score in every possible way against all defences and among them some of the best defenses of the time with AEK in the European Cups, the NT and the World Best XI. Toni on the other hand combined talent with a great character and a low key personality who could be the quiet leader in the AEK midfield on and off the pitch. Wronged regarding wages and the end of his playing AEK career.
Irlandos
Top scorer for 5 years in succession... He could out-perform much younger players in the twilight of his career... A specialist in the "plasse" shot... In his 70's offered himself as one alternative when AEK had a managerial crisis... My first favourite is still my all-time favourite: Kostas Nestoridis As for foreign favourite, I'll go for the quiet man who is still with us, developing our young talent. The man who told his children "we are Yugoslavs" despite being called up by FYROM's national team: Toni Savevski.
platakis
Manthoooooos Plataaaaaaaaaakis Greatest football player ever born, deciding oonce and for all the Pele vs Maradona dilemma, combining Maradona attitude with Peles talent. His sprint and plase against Iraklis on his debut in 1993 was energetic, poetic, magnetic even (France FDootball). he's sinvce been caught training with Barca (Agion DImitrios)
Dava-G
Vasilis Dimitriadis The first time I saw him was a summer friendly after his transfer from Aris. Geez, I saw this guy play and my father and I had our mouths open. This guy was a goal scoring machine. He was a master within the 6. Driven and ALWAYS busting his ass. No he was not the type to dribble around 5 people. No he was not the fastest guy out there. No he did not have a rocket of a shot. But he played so smart and was ALWAYS in the right place at the right time. He had the most amazing finishing touch I have ever seen in a Greek player. I must have seen 4-5 friendlies that summer before going home. I cut out the headlines of the papers and made some posters to bring with me to the university. I remeber one headline now after Vasilis nailed down like 4-5 in a friendly... AEK TURBO. I still get chills when I look at those headlines. UNfortunately, personal problems were his demise (his wife and the death of his father). And his possible great career was merely just good. Biggest thing for me was that he was a HUGE AEKtzi. Christ, he basically bled Yellow and black. Many other players have many types of celebrations after they score either to bring attention to themselves or try to have a "signature move"... Dimitriadis was not about a signature move. He would either kiss the AEK emblem on his shirt or point to it and then the fans. Its all about the team and this guy had it going on. Irlandos
When I was really young I remember Nielsen was one of my favourite do you guys remember him? Yup, led the A' Ethniki in scoring one year!Btw, we forgot the "omogeneis"! My favourite one was the koumbaros, Giorgos Savvides (Cypriots count as omogeneis, even if they come from Omonia). Original Melbourne 21
I have tried not to respond to this thread bc its just damn too tough. I mean any sane AEK fan could sit here and talk for hours about players. I am weird when it comes to favourite players.....very weird. I see a player I like and then its lights out....I love them to the death. Me personally my favourite players are: 1. Xristos Kwstis 2. Akis Zhkos 3. Nikolaidis/Saveski Special mentions to: Lybe (if he played more years at AEK; Unfortunately this is all-time favourite AEK players, not players in General); Billy Dimitriadis, Teo and Timor. platakis
Unbelievable there is no mention of Tsartas, who is undoubtedly the greatest baladoros who's played for AEK in the last 20 years or so. Also, a little disapponted to not see Stavros Stamatis and Pavlop Papaioannou:)

Irlandos
Marton Esterhazy was definitely NOT my favourite! He showed us he was world class, we paid a fortune to get him and, next thing you know, he couldn't be bothered to play! Just dragged himself along the pitch the whole 90 minutes through!
