I asked chat GPT who PAOK should target and here’s who it gave me

ST - AndI Zeqiri

CB - Stipe Radic

AMC - Peter Stanic

He lost all of last season (apart from his first game) where he tore a meniscus. Judging by transfermarkt he was on the bench towards the end of the season so presumably he's in shape. But who knows what this means for his effectiveness.

Why would he be a free agent, though? Is he getting released from his contract?

Anyway, in other news, the Cheddira move has gone from no, to yes, back to no. I don't know why we would want this guy - his statistics are terrible. Why waste our time and money with another Samatta?

I guess some eye-talians are saying we might be interestd in Facundo Gonzalez, who is owned by Juventus but played for Feyenoord last season (but "played" is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that sentence, as he appears to have played only six times in their league).

Good age, at least?

Meanwhile, Akpom is tenuously linked with the Turks. I would SO rather have him than the scrubs we've been linked to...

Perhaps if this drama continues for another three weeks, we will get him for cheap(er). A boy can dream.

I don't get this - surely both the CFs we've called up to preseason (Mythos and Chatsidis) won't be getting minutes with the senior team?

Speaking of academies, here's a non-player signing that is kind of interesting: https://inpaok.com/870432/simantiki-enischysi-gia-tis-akadimies-tou-paok/

And lastly, more rumors that we want the Canuck. At this point, he's older than we should be gunning for, imo...

Wouldn't be a bad move IMO. He has had a good career since leaving Greece and has developed nicely. About 2-3 years ago he chose to go down the money path and go to the MLS (where he played some great football) and now in Mexico. Prior to that he had good seasons in Holland and at Celtic.

He is a scorer and doesn't need many opportunities to find the back of the net. He is also big and can play with his back to goal/link up with the rest of the team. Something that Lucescu seems to like (Prijovic, Akpom, Oliviera).

SDNA was referencing some "locker room trouble" at his current club as apparently he is massively overpaid, at 275k a month (which came to a head after they got their asses kicked by Seattle, 7-0). That works out to 3.3mm a year. Surely he doesn't expect that kind of salary here?

He would be coming to us on loan, and I am assuming we would be splitting his salary with Cruz Azul.

There's rumored to be a buy option, which makes what comes after more of a concern. But who knows, maybe by then we'll have Mythou and Chatzidis as our star duo in a tight 4-4-2

So we couldn't have afforded him, but AEK had a more compelling case? Frigging AEK?

We can afford him. But we are uncle Scrooge. Cashed milions last 5 years in Europe (not the Levski-dissaster though), sold Tzolis, Koulierakis but do not want to invest in a proper CF.

I am wondering how AEK, O Aris and Pana can afford al these signings without the euro's coming in btw.

I sure hope they can't; would love to see a reckoning a la the big Turkish teams.

My uncle mitso told me that we can't spend money because Savvidis is under sanctions and can't move the money to Cyprus. Nonsense. The team has bank accounts in Greece. I was willing to give the benefit of the doubt before, but now I think we're just clowning around.

The organization is fine finishing 2nd, 3rd, 4th as long as they make a profit. Savvidis is treating this as a business venture instead of a club trying to win the league. Same as the Yankees. If we continue to do well & make money things won’t change.

^ oh yeah your love of him is inspirational

Anyway, there have been a few non-updates re: Giakoumakis. Some sources say we will pay all his salary, some just a part. One earlier said we were going back to Cruz Azul to offer to pay more of his salary for a smaller buy-out next year. This one is a bit more middle-of-the-road. I think, though, if we can only make updates to our list up to 24 hours in advance, then we basically have less than a day to get this deal done and the player to Greece (a direct flight from Mexico City to Athens, if it even exists, would probably be 12-14 hours).

Are we able to update that list after the Wolfsberger games, I wonder?

We also continue to be linked with some other Slavic forwards, maybe it's nonsense, maybe they're plan Bs (and Cs and Ds).

The player is vacationing in Crete, so no direct flight from Mexico is needed.

Apparently we agreed with Cruz Azul for Giakoumakis. Rumors are that we increased our portion of the contract to 60% (1.7 mil) and agreement was reached for one year loan. The deal should be announced tomorrow.

Some sites are saying we offered 9mm for Zafeiris and were immediately shot down. My guess is they value him at a multiple of that (which I would too). Like I was telling our schoolteacher friend, this would be the first signing I'd actually be excited about this summer. Would be a huge step towards improving the team.

On the account of paokcommunity it says we increased the offer to almost 12 M. And that Zafeiris is putting pressure on Slavia too.

Huge singing if true and happening.
