pash
Was he really involved in a brawl?? Haha that's fantastic. He'll be playing for Panserraikos in no time. PAOKSYD he apparently has no dominant foot, and so can be used on either side.
PAOKSYD
Hes been injured for over 500 days... Who found this bloke?
pash
The answer to why he hasn't played much this year can be found by reading the previous post and doing some googling. But if you did that, trolling would be harder, right?
Blackhawk
Looks like Maximovic, who we had almost "signed" last transfer period and was a sure thing to join PAOK in the summer is signing with Panathinaikos for 3 years.
PAOKSYD
The maxsimovic move proves Ivan is full of it.
Bananas
According to sport24.gr Panathinaikos have offered Maximovic 2 million per year which is quite a sum. We can't know what wages PAOK were considering when we tried to sign him earlier in the year but I imagine not in that ball park. We have to remember that at the beginning of the season all of us fans were fairly disappointed with (a) our lack of expediency in getting transfers early and (b) the quality of our transfers. Now in hindsight, all is fairly well. So I imagine the urgency to sign Maximovic is no longer there. Not that he wouldn't be a great addition to the squad but the team is cruising along nicely so the same urgency isn't there. And even if it was, I just don't know if 2 million is something we would offer. On another note, the signing of a RB is obviously the most urgent issue. Why we would let Lyratzis go on loan without having done this I don't understand. Maybe Lyratzis just had enough and Lucescu has rolled the dice. Who knows. For now we see out the season. If we win the title, great. If not, we have a good foundation for next season.
pash
I believe Lucescu said in a recent post-game interview that Lyratzis wanted to go. It seems he knew he would ride the bench even without the guy already locked down (which I think would have been the predictable result anyway). Maximovic at this point is a luxury. I would imagine we'll move to make Meite permanent (if we weren't going to do that anyway). If so, where would Maximovic even play? Let Pao drain their coffers, I say. pash
Lots more hubbub about Jonny Otto today. Some are predicting he'll be coming to SKG on the 25th or 26th. I am so ready to eat crow over this. If it goes through, is it a "bam" ? -edit- I've seen a few contradictory claims about his contract. This is along the lower range of the estimates, and is also the newest (that I've seen): https://inpaok.com/806023/idou-to-symvolaio-tou-oto-ston-paok/ Edited January 22 by pash
Blackhawk
We gave up on Maximovic at the end of the summer when his team demanded 4 mil just to let him go. I think a decision was made to see how Meite/Antonio would perform and revisit this again in the future. It appears that during this transfer period a bidding war has started and PAOK did not take part in it. His agent all of a sudden also demanded a 1.7 mil signing bonus, which probably turned PAOK completely off. At the end I think we will sign either Meite or Antonio and also look for another midfielder since at the end of this period some of the contracts are ending (Schwab). In other rumors I heard that Murg is asking for a wage increase. After sitting on the bench for the past two seasons, I am not sure I would be extending his contract.
PAOKSYD
We only have 25 players in our squad the 3 from Athens have 32 each
pash
Hadn't heard that about Murg, but I'm guessing that's for a possible new contract and not a weird push for an immediate pay bump? I do think there is a lot of risk there for a player that only picked up his performance in a contract year. I say let him go back to Vienna if there is even a hint of trouble. There are rumors that Meite may be the one they choose (and that the team will try to pay a bit less than the 4mm we agreed to for him). I can't imagine that we'd spend real money on Antonio, though. Might be only 25 players, but unlike in recent years, we are actually using all of the players. For the first time in a long time, I actually like our player management. I do think with next summer's expiring contracts, that we have both some danger and some opportunity, though. Btw here is the list according to transfermarkt. I am certain most will not be re-signed. And even if we do extend a few of these guys - like Taison, Thomas - we absolutely need to hire players who are better in those positions. Nat. Contract expires Vieirinha 6/30/2024 Zivko Zivkovic 6/30/2024 Taison 6/30/2024 Stefan Schwab 6/30/2024 Thomas Murg 6/30/2024 Soualiho Meïté 6/30/2024 Tomasz Kedziora 6/30/2024 Brandon Thomas 6/30/2024 Marcos Antônio 6/30/2024
Athens4
I think Taison and Thomas will get one-year contract extensions.
Blackhawk
Problem is Taison is asking for 2 years and PAOK sticking to one year extension.
Athens4
That's a shame. I would definitely renew him for one year but not two. Not that it matters what I say or believe, but I would offer him a contract until Summer 2025, take it or leave it.
pash
You want to manage the player's attitude through the end of the season too - an ultimatum when we still have like three months to play, can blow up in your face. Especially if the relationship with Murg goes south. Keep the talk respectful enough, but if there is no budge on his end, don't toss an ultimatum until you've extracted value from him. Bananas
You guys are a bit harsh regarding Murg. From a playing perspective, you couldn't ask for more from him. He is playing at a very high level. Also, his age is perfect. Peak age. I guess it comes down to does the club think they can find an equivalent player for similar money. If the answer is, we're not sure, or, we'll work it out in the summer, then I'd be looking at renewing his contract. Of course, it depends also on how much he's asking for. If the club has a list of replacements ready then that changes things, but forgive me if I don't have faith in our transfer dealings. Knowing our club, Murg will get upset and leave on a free contract to one of the Athens clubs. Then a big offer will come in for Konstantelias and we'll be scrambling for two number 10's in the summer.
paokarag4
For me, Murg staying is predicated on Lucescu staying. Lucescu has worked out how to use him and has him playing the best football he ever has for us. I don't think another coach would get the same output from him. Given all the noise is that Lucescu has agreed to an extension and it is merely a formality in actually signing the paperwork, I'd be happy if the club offers him a 2 year deal. With an option for another year. As for Taison, he is having a great season and has been superb for the year he's been here. Clearly he deserves another contract with us, the issue is commiting a 2-year deal (as he reportedly wants) to a 36 year old is just a no-go. 1 year + one more if he meets some performance bonuses seems the most logical offer. Hopefully they find a compromise and he stays on because he is a very good player and is fantastic to watch.
pash
I think the worry is Murg will be upset right when we need him most... Anyway, saw this post about Brandon Thomas. For those who can't access it, here is the text as well. Is what they say about uefa, like, true? https://www.instagram.com/p/C2amXsxIIs9/ Αποκάλυψη: Προς ανανέωση – έκπληξη ο Μπράντον!
Blackhawk
Jonathan (Jonny) Castro Otto is coming to Thessaloniki on Friday to sign a 1.5 year deal with PAOK. Also rumors are that we are close to signing a winger by the end of the week.
pash
I had read some rumors that we're not going for a big winger signing - in other words, more Quagliata and less Despodov. Not sure it matters much anyway, but hopefully the club isn't wasting its time on someone who will end up in the B team in a few weeks.

I don't, by the way, have an issue with Murg wanting more money - you should always expect your compensation to increase, in any role. Especially when your performance justifies it. pash
A fan page on instagram claiming that Krasnodar wants Zivkovic and Konstantelias, and that PAOK "asked for 7mm + 3mm bonus" for Zivkovic. I very much doubt all of this (but I could see us dealing Zivkovic in the summer, since Despodov seems absolutely unbelievable). And no I don't WANT us to get rid of him. I think we need multiple players of that caliber in every position, frankly. -edit- and here's a post on inpaok: https://inpaok.com/807553/rosika-senaria-gia-an-zivkovits-konstantelia/ Uh with his father wants some of his rights?
