Blackhawk Posted May 9, 2023 Author Posted May 9, 2023 Only one result is beneficial to PAOK and that is a win even if it is only 1:0. With a win we finish in 3rd place and secure Europa League spot thanks also to being in the cup final. With any other result we finish in 4th place and we will need to win the cup in order to secure Europa League. Hopefully some of our injured players will be back for this game.
Dutch Eagle Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 Ingason, Sastre and Douglas Augusto trained with the group. They should all be available against the gavroi.
paokarag4 Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 Good news, expect all three to start! Will be a nice way to end the season, winning and clinching Europa League football regardless of the Cup final. Expect a tight game where all 3 results are just as likely, I worry about our fire power and being able to finish our chances. Hopefully Thomas and Zivkovic can carry on their scoring form. A fit and available Taison would be nice, even if it is only off the bench.
Blackhawk Posted May 11, 2023 Author Posted May 11, 2023 Taison will most likely be saved for the cup final, even if he is fit to play. This will be a tough game as Olympiakos is playing for two result. We must win and will not be easy.
pash Posted May 12, 2023 Posted May 12, 2023 For me, the biggest stat in this article: Biseswar was only here a year longer than El Kaddouri, but played 122 more games. Unreal. Will still be sad to see them play their last home games (assuming they do play). They both had very, very long tenures. https://inpaok.com/773215/el-kantouri-bisesvar-to-last-dance-stin-touba/ 1
Athens4 Posted May 13, 2023 Posted May 13, 2023 They were good servants of the shirt (Biseswar more so than Omar, who was always injured). But it is time to go.
Blackhawk Posted May 14, 2023 Author Posted May 14, 2023 Hope I am wrong, but I don't see us winning tomorrow. Not with Greek ref calling the game. I see this game ending in a tie. 0:0 or 1:1.
Dutch Eagle Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 Koulierakis is starting the second half. Näsberg is subbed out.
Dutch Eagle Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 Taison and Schwab subbed in for Biseswar and Dantas.
Blackhawk Posted May 14, 2023 Author Posted May 14, 2023 Not watching the game, but I kind of expected the scoreline. If we are lucky we will tie it up.
Dutch Eagle Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 Felipe Soares coming in for Douglas Augusto. 10 min. left to score two goals. But I don't think it is gonna happen.
Dutch Eagle Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 And Tzimas the last subbed in. Brandon subbed out.
Dutch Eagle Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 FT 0-1. Opportunity 1 for a spot in EL qualifiers is down the drain. Let's grab the cup!
Athens4 Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 Watched the first half. We just don't have the players to compete. Hopefully we can recruit some talent this summer.
Blackhawk Posted May 15, 2023 Author Posted May 15, 2023 What a disappointing result. For the second straight season the team just does not have the ability to compete in the playoffs. The most glaring weakness is goal scoring. As for the Greek Cup final. Let's hope the AEK players keep celebrating at bouzoukia and won't take the final too seriously for us to have any chances of winning it. We are clearly the underdogs in that game.
paokarag4 Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 You could tell early in the game it would be a tight game that would probably be decided by the one goal. Unfortunately for us, our half chances didn't cut it, not that we played poorly. What we lacked is what we've lacked for most of the year, that is quality with the final ball/someone to finish our chances. It all comes down to the Cup final, obviously winning a trophy would be fantastic. Plus the added bonus of playing in the Europa League and starting our competitive matches on the 10th of August will be super important to the team getting a proper pre-season in and giving any new signings the chance to settle. Compared to if we lose and begin our European journey in the Conference League on the 27th of July. Those two weeks could be crucial.
