Taxiarchis Fountas - (Now Playing for OFI)

After a successful season in Austria and through popular demand, Taxiarchis Fountas has his own thread. Hopefully he will continue his progress this upcoming season.

He has picked up where he left off last season, scoring 2 goals in the season opener Rapid won 4-1. They are also through to the 3rd qualifying round of the Champions league where they will play Gent this week.

He scored today In EL to give Rapid Wien the lead vs Arsenal. They ended up losing 2-1. He needs to be starting for the Ethniki!

Really I didn't hear anything about that? Is he out long term? The constant injuries to the NT players are unbelievable.

He's been given a 4 match ban for spitting at an opponent in a friendly over the winter break.

He scored the 2nd goal for Rapid Wien in a 3 nil win over Anorthosis in Europa qualification.

I hope JVS gives him a call up for Septembers matches.

He scored the first goal in a 3 nil win over Zorya today in Europa league qualifier. He is on a roll!

Fountas scored again today! Rapid Wien lost the game but are through to the Europa league.

They won actually. And this goal was unmissable. His teammate had two opponents that went after him and Taxi was left alone and had no difficulties scoring the goal.

Fountas provided the assist of the only goal of Rapid's homegame against Altach.

Taxi scored a hat trick in 3-5 win against Orlando city yesterday. Also scored DC only goal in 1-3 loss last week June 25. Now has 9 goals in 10 games so far in MLS.

Fountas was accused of racially abusing multiple other players on separate occasions in September 2022 and July 2023. Following the second incident, the team and Fountas mutually agreed to terminate his contract.

Is there a future for him?

Was heavily linked to Trabzonspor to join Bakasetas and Kourbelis. Last I heard he was travelling to Turkey, that was last week sometime but no announcement since.
