Europa Play-Offs PAO-Qabala 2nd leg 27/08/2015 21:00

Xalia. The club was once respected in Greece and around Europe but this is a disgrace.

People who make the decisions need to be excused or fired.

Financial crisis or not the club has hit bottom and I guarantee you all that 90% of Greek clubs would have gone through this tie but talk about making the easy difficult.

This club needs years away from Europe to sort itself out.

I think yous would be crazy to get rid of Anastasiou now, sure yous are out of Europe and it always falls back on the manager but you cant get rid of a guy based on that alone, see how he does in his first 5 games or so, and then yous can talk about sacking him if things arent working out.

Nothing good will come from getting rid of him at this stage. Taht is unless a high caliber manager can be brought in, but unlikely at this time of the year.

Sacking the coach right now wouldn't be the best thing to do just as the league has started, it will take the new coach a good 3-4 weeks to get across to the players what he wants from them, are you guys happy to play catch up from his early if you drop points? I know you are all upset but maybe without Europe it could be a blessing as players can now focus on the league and one match a week gets them hungrier for success...

I get people being upset but the entire blow up the team in August mantra needs to stop. Essien hasn't played yet. Abeid hasn't played yet. Sanchez has played like 2 games. Those are basically the 3 big signings from this summer. This team will look different in a few weeks. It's disappointing that we will not be playing Europe this year and more importantly to the club, losing out on that guaranteed cash. But at this point, the team and players probably need out support more than ever. I think they know they need to turn it around.

All i know is they NEED a win on Sunday. Then they have 2 weeks to regroup and get key people back.

Hello.

Losing today was embarrassing and all but when a team is down, this is what happens. And it happens in all sports. In my own city I witnessed Bulls golden years to absolute tragedy and now back to a good re build. I've witnessed 5,000 avg attendance at Hawks games to 3 Stanley cups in last 6 years. What upsets me though is that in Greece, the way things are going there is no hope to re build. What's truly upsetting is where we would stand as a team even if we did win. We're absolute crap. Making worse europorn than what oly once were kings at. The whole world knew we needed defense. We go and get Essien. Bourbo is our starting right back. That's more pathetic than losing to gabala in itself. As long as corruption leads the way in Greece, and in UEFA, this is what we will be watching for a very long time. And oly will continue winning the league and then getting knocked out after round of 32 in both tourney... and Barcelona, real, bayern, pick it, will continue making final four every year of champions league...Same crap every year.

One more thing to add....If you can invest only 2 million dollars for summer transfers, and go on to make the CL,

or past the group stages of EUROPA....Everyone would be doing it, its going to take at least 30 million dollars for new players, and 5 to 10 million for transfers every year, until then we're B leaguers....Look how cheap this league has become....Disgusting to only have one true team in your country....On every level Greece continues to disappoint!!!

I think unfortunately, that is the case.

jvc you may not agree but if AEK does show consistency which is what the old AEK lacked I feel we have a roster and the style of football that may give them a challenge for that title. May not win it but we are on the right path to getting there and in football anything is possible... oh that's if the p*****es don't come into it also :)

I saw their game the other day and going forward they looked slick, but their defence wasnt so good from what I saw.

We have a balanced roster and Dellas seems to be getting the best out of the boys and the team harmony is very good, cant ask for anything more.. oh except for a striker lol

But I feel we can challenge IF we keep consistent and get some good results in the derbies..

I wouldn't count you guys out either, don't go off today you guys went on a great run late last season and almost had them rattled if those 3 points didn't get taken off you..

But again if the p*****es come about we are all F***ed

^^You don't here Reaper come on and say anything now about Ninis that piece of s%$#!...For years I had arguments with them in the NT threads about Santos not playing him...Last year's playoffs Ninis had a few good games and all the Ninis pushers and Santos haters coming on here telling us....I told you Ninis is the bomb....He's s%$#!, and if you build teams around mainly Greek players and don't spend money to bring in real talent, to teach the Greeks how to play soccer....You become s%$#!!!!

I don't venture to that side of the forum.

Who was the guy coming over wanting to compare ninis with sneijder? Eleos re p*****. Ase mas re me to paixtaki!

Ninis is a nut shell, 'promises but doesn't deliver'

jvc 1 reason is the fact we have are on the London stock exchange and we need to show profit for the first 2 years, after that with investors from the stock exchange our budget can triple.

He wanted Peter Lim to jump on board also but it seems he wants to take over AEK completely and Meli is reluctant to do that.

Meli isn't the type to throw money all over the place, he didn't do it in the past and he wont do it now. He knows football very well. The players we have brought in aren't terrible either they have blended well and with consistency they can achieve anything.

Once we get back into Europe I would expect him to spend money then that's for sure....

His concern is the stadium, he is putting $20 mill of his own in for it but still looking for another $20mill since the mounia in govt wont give us the money we were promised. Typical malakes in Greece, they'd rather sell out their nation than create jobs for people...

PANATHINAIKOS IS A MASSIVE TEAM and these idiots have made it into a very small football entity!

Once the suits jumped ship, we were always set up for failure. They are the reason we are in this mess, with some to blame more than others.

Don't use Alafazous and a scape goat, if it weren't for him, we wouldn't even have a side. Who else was willing to put their hand up?

I understand your frustration because this isn't the pao you know, but it's the reality of the situation and we have to deal with it.

Enough 'grinia' it won't do any good. The club needs it's fans now more than ever. We need to focus our efforts towards the title.

the fans have a right to voice their opinions if this is called grinia then so be it.someone has to pay for the lost euro money and getting knocked out by an azeri team, heads have to roll its not as if anastsiou hasn't been given the chance to succeed.

wher are our wingers?wher is our creative midfielder, why is bourbos still the right back?why has the average age of the team shot up so much,32,33,34 ,35 yr olds everywhere.

is it against the law for panathinaikos to buy players from latin America ?

have we got better as a team under anastasiou ? what is the budget of the azeri team?

wingers? anastasiou does not believe in wingers. he plays a 4-2-2-2 system.  expects our left and right backs to pinch in as wingers.  and BOURBOS? HE wouldnt even start on my over 35 mens team.

I think the mentality for this game was 'an mas katsi, mas ekatse'. Sure there was many things wrong with our play but the lack of effort was obvious, not to mention some of our guys were gassed as well. Compared to the fight we showed against panaitolikos, this showing was nothing like that.
