Brklyngrk Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Some are speculating that the Greek boat retreated further into Greek waters so to make clear the violation from the Turkish coast guard...
Itcoco Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Thanks for the welcome boys! @ThrylosG7 @Nikitas
Andriotis Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 There is going to be some kind of incident at this rate. The questions is what will it lead to... how far are the Turks willing to go? And how much will Tsipra rise to the occasion? Its going to be a tense, tense future in store and it may cost lives.
Nikitas Posted February 25, 2017 Posted February 25, 2017 isnt there a topic here called "greece turkey relations"? http://www.tornosnews.gr/en/greek-news/politics/23373-turkey-blasts-greece-for-raising-the-greek-flag-on-a-greek-island.html http://greece.greekreporter.com/2017/02/24/turkish-news-agency-denounces-greek-chief-of-staff-after-flag-raised-on-oinousses/
Nikitas Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 more tukish violations at rhodos. http://greece.greekreporter.com/2017/03/06/turkish-provocation-in-rhodes-during-greek-presidents-visit/
athinaios Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 I sense that Erdogan will become more aggressive if he wins the referendum for expanded presidential powers, and in addition the increasing friction between Europe and Turkey will make him more nationalistic since it's not in the cards Turkey will join the EU any time soon.
Nikitas Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 (edited) another pathetic decision by NATO. http://en.protothema.gr/nato-excludes-limnos-from-exercise-greece-withdraws/ erdogan's fantasies. http://en.protothema.gr/erdogans-shocking-manifesto-he-openly-vows-to-recapture-territories-from-greece-cyprus-syria/ http://en.protothema.gr/turkish-official-turkey-will-hold-a-referendum-for-the-islands-the-greeks-have-taken-from-us/ Edited March 21, 2017 by Nikitas
Antaeus7 Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 I couldn't find an actual topic of Turkey, but I have learned today that Recep Tayyip Erdogan now has full executive power after the Turkish voters vote YES 51.4% to NO 48.6%. This will hurt Turkey's democracy in a major way.
Bananas Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Thanks for the heads up. I didn’t know about this. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. After all, Erdogan had the balls to shoot done a Russian fighter jet in Syria. If he’s not afraid of Putin I doubt Tsipras will have him quaking in his boots. Still, trying to look at this objectively, it sounds like it’s just a case of Erdogan doing his sums and calculating that this will make him look tough domestically and at the same time figuring that the probability of Greece retaliating is virtually nil. I don’t know much about Erdogan but he does seem to be shrewd. At least in so far as knowing how far to push without being pushed back and at the same time coming out looking like a tough guy to his people.
Antaeus7 Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 Time to revive this topic since Greece have huge issues with Turkey. This could lead to World War 3 potentially if both sides don't find an agreement with the maritime water dispute.
