Koro
True it would be hard for Greece to totally stop the flow, without more deaths/drowning. Although it would be an effective deterrent, in 2016 it seems unthinkable that a European nation would be able to get away with such a policy. Apparently Bulgarian border police have been using physical force and dogs to push migrants back into Turkey, and now many of them avoid Bulgaria: https://www.hrw.org/news/2016/01/20/bulgaria-pushbacks-abuse-borders Of course the difference for Greece is that if you push them back into the sea, they probably drown. You are right to mention Turkey grkjet. Turkey is not the only nation within reaching distance to Europe, but it is by far the most popular route now. At the start of this crisis most of the migrants were coming from Libya, because it was a failed state that could not police its borders. But you have to look at states like Morocco and Tunisia, which are even closer to Europe, yet have few migrants coming from there. The EU pays these North African states to stop the boats in the first place, they used to do the same with Libya, before it was destroyed. If states like Morocco can stop the flow, then Turkey has no excuse, especially after the EU just handed Turkey 3 billion euros. Erdogan clearly doesn't want to play ball. Tzatziki
The first 10 or so minutes of this video is shot in the US state of Alabama which has has one of the toughest laws against illegal immigrants and as a result all of them have left. It's not Greece or Europe but if illegal immigration is an issue that interests you this video might be for you.
gyros
How hard can it be to stop the problem in Lesvos. Its one tiny island and they are taking the same route. The continent has to be beyond frustrated with Greece.
Koro
Greece surrendered its sovereignty to the forces of darkness long ago. Tsipras will continue to be pushed from one corner to another by Turkey, EU, NATO, corporations, even migrants. Few countries today have true sovereignty thanks to how the nature of international relations has changed, but Greece is in the most pathetic situation out of all the European nations. Electoral change will not solve this, something more drastic is needed. Germany/EU and Turkey are not going to change their positions anytime soon, Greece has no leverage with them. By continuing to tow the line, Tsipras will only turn Greece into a financial colony that also has a similar demographic makeup to Lebanon or Afghanistan.
gyros
You have a government that wants open borders and doesn't care about immigration. Also, the fact that they are all coming in at 1 or 2 locations and they can't stop it, is a joke. Its like leaving your back door open at your house and people keep coming in your house daily and robbing it and instead of getting a lock, you just leave it open. This is gross incompetence by the government. 2000 people arrive at the same spot on Lesbos everyday. Where is the Greek Navy at. What clowns! Bananas
EU should be disbanded, it has been a failure of a project This is what happens when the EU has you by the balls. Any time they want Greece to do anything, they will threaten to sink the economy. They even gave us a taste of what will happen when they stopped supplying money to Greek banks just before the infamous OXI vote. The day they did that was the day that Greece should have left the EU, regardless of the short to medium term economic consequences. But when push came to shove, the majority of people didn't have the stomach for it. Be it the political class, rich, poor and everyone in between. They wanted the benefits of EU membership without having to reorganise their economy. If Tsipras (not that it would ever have happened anyway) or anyone else had threatened and actually went through with Grexit he probably would have been assassinated. This situation where the majority of people were saying OXI to the austerity but NAI to EU membership is f**king ridiculous. When I first saw that I wasn't sure I was seeing it correctly, but there it was. National schizophrenia. Greece wants to have its cake and eat it too, the f**ing end.
CHE21QNS
Tsipra, his followers, his ideology, and their counterparts in Europe are DANGEROUS and need to be taken out immediately. At this point I would say let Xrish Augh come in and reverse the damage these traitors are doing. As far as being accepted by other countries, the way things are going they'll each have their own version of Xrish Augh in power by the next round of elections. If you look at Turkeys population, not only would they take a large cut of the subsidy pie, but they are also estimating a migration waive of over 15 million people. The fate of the western world rests on the shoulders of Cyprus.

gyros
Italy is jointly guarding the border at Albania with the Albanian army. Even the Italians are fed up with the Greeks and Italians are usually a supportive voice for us.
gyros
I am on twitter but mostly to follow, I don't really post or engage with people. So I follow a lot of the European and Greek mainstream media and I can't believe how many of them are all for the Muslim invasion of Europe and the religion of peace. How stupid can these people be. They want open borders and always come up with daily little stories how some family from Syria were bread makers and all they want is to go to Germany. Get real. I'm not falling for this nonsense. Brklyngrk
The EU was mad at Greece for not doing its part in documenting the refugees and letting them go through Europe unabated. Greece had similar issues (some may say that we still do) with Turkey. Italy sees that if it doesn't stop the refugees at the Greek border, they will not stop in Albania, but go right into Italy. There is blame to go around.

Chriskiato
remember all the syriza supporters here.....and all the EU/NATO/West bashes... 'all we want is a sovereign greece'...... You warned us about Syriza. You are still wrong about everything else :D Socialists are a cancer as you warned us. Tsipras is part of the Elite to destroy Europe and Chrstianity. He is a phony. The elections were rigged. He doesn't work for Greece. I am going to anticipate the next move. To maintain the flow I expect an incentive for the refugees to keep coming. It could be financial aid to migrants. Merkel promised them free health care, money, housing etc. This is why they are so desperate to get to Northern Europe. As long as they have a glimpse of hope of getting to Germany or welfare they will keep coming. Not sure what that hope will be with the borders closed but it will come soon. I also think the borders were planned to close once they reached 1 million in Germany. Otherwise Merkel would be lynched. I think the goal now is to populate Greece as much and as fast as possible and possibly cause a dispute with Turkey. What ever Tsipras says expect the opposite. In Easter the satanist expects a resurrection of the economy. I anticipate a possible financial collapse so watch out for May. Anyways, what is happening to our patrida is bringing me to tears. Is this the end of Greece/Europe as we know it? Are we going to be populated by Arabs? Build them mosques? Siriza is not hiding that they will be permanently settling many refugees in Greece. A recent headline was of our very low birth rate. Settling migrants in Greece will be the cure. Any opposition you will be branded a racist! Klaous
Massive terror attacks in Belgium, many people killed. When will Greece wake up and close its border? Greece is not Australia, mate. There are no borders which can be "closed". Furthermore, there's already an agreement that every illegal refugee will be send back to Turkey. There is nothing more they can do. Chriskiato
And they keep coming in... Erdogan is very dangerous. They will keep letting them through. After the Brussels bombing, no European country will take any refugees. As for closing our borders, ND did the job with detention centers.

PAOKSWEDEN
^ tried clicking the link and it says "this content is not available right now" There's a Greek guy living in Australia that puts up videos on Facebook. He got accused of being a racist and so he made a video about 8-10 minutes long with examples of how the antifasistes, the leftists and Syriza are the actual racists. edit: here it is https://www.facebook.com/442123012663269/videos/477233815818855/?autoplay_reason=gatekeeper&video_container_type=0&app_id=6628568379 Edited March 23, 2016 by PAOKSWEDEN
gyros
The Greek media is so far out of reality too. They love to show baby Ahmed and his mother who came from Syria and all they want to do is start a new life in Germany and the European nations are racist for closing the borders. Its like these people are oblivious to what is going on around them. Edited March 24, 2016 by gyros
Chriskiato
That was amazing!! Finally I hear someone telling the truth! I just posted this to my face book page. Its going to be a bloodbath in Greece. We need the new Kolokotroni! I am a bit suspicious of this Turkey deal and the Brussels bombing straight after. I don't believe any EU country will implement migrant relocations after this. It gets weirder and weirder with Siriza. The minister who used the word Macedonia will be getting a promotion instead of being fired! Edited March 25, 2016 by Chriskiato
