he could be leaving benfica. he was injured a short time in pre-season. begin of last season he was a starter i think but later on fejsa took over. now they bought a couple of reinforcements and are looking more for a box to box.

looks like zenit is preparing an offer for samaris since they will lose axel witsel. zenit will offer 20 million for him. zenit plays in the europa league group fase.

A russian team that plays in Europa league offers 20 million for a player.

Meanwhile Greek teams aiming for Champions League (and having a taste of that money) spend 3-5 million on a player and suddently we are supposed to be thankful.

Of course Zenit has a bigger income, but probably better president too.

Finally somebody that likes Russian mounares besides me...

I was thinking about the Mounares too lol. Top shelf.

Russian league seems in another realm. When players go their the seem to dissapear eg) Karelis

Nevetheless they have some quality clubs for sure, Zenit, CSKA Moscow

Am I putting too much weight on climate? But I think Greek footballers would benefit from a Mediterranean climate over the Russian. hence why Greek players seem to do well in Italy and Portugal vs. Germany and England (also they are tougher leagues I concede)

zenit already offered 15 million but was rejected by benfica. they probably remember samaris from the CL match benfica played against zenit where he played as makeshift cb and was the best man on the field.

it's funny how often teams will chase after a player after just playing against them once and seeing them perform well. I've seen this happen many times.

it makes it seem like scouts aren't trying that hard lol

in addition to the rumours of zenit and middlesbrough is that samaris had pointed out that he is only interested in teams that fight for the championship but most important is that he dont want to leave benfica. he is happy there and very important for the team. they have a busy schedule with the league , CL and cup. he will get enough minutes i believe. and to zenit he wont go i think and it looks like witsel will stay at zenit.

Wow, China, imagine. Horrible. Waste of a career. Has anyone ever even thought of Avraam Papadopoulos since he moved to China? By the way, he was 30 when he made his move, an age when you are at your prime as a CB. That`s how bad China is. Samaris would be a fool.

In reality though. I think if he were to go to Asia to play soccer he'll be more rested from less competitive football and his inner warrior would have to step up for the ethiniki because that's his only chance at true competitive football. Even the few times fetfa played when he was in arabia he looked sharped.

talent is talent at the end of the day. just playing devil's advocate because obviously playing in a better league is more likely to reach potential and be sharp. If you put messi or ronaldo to play in qatar though they'd still likely be world class imo. maybe if they went under 25 it would stifle their growth.
