cyberfish
The draw for the WC2010 qualifying rounds takes place on Sunday 11/25/2007. While our hearts and minds are in the EURO 2008, the WC is our NT's next challenge that we want to conquer. Qualifying for it would be awesome, and it starts with the draw. Greece's NT has achieved 9th place in the FIFA charts so they would avoid playing the other superpowers of Europe (being one of them now). Here are the rankings for the draw from http://www.contra.gr/Soccer/World/WorldCup...010/176771.html

Argy
I think this is a wonderful thing for our national team. We are likely to be in a very favourable group where we can take control like we did in the euro qualies. Even though we were in a relatively easy group last WC, we werent the team that we are today. plato-ny
In terms of coefficients, the hardest group would be England, Norway, Slovenia, Georgia, and Liechenstein In terms of coefficients, the easiest group would be Israel, Belgium, Cyprus, Azerbaijan, and San Marino

plato-ny
According to contra.gr, the English Press is reporting that Rehhagel offered his services to the English NT after Euro 2008 if they do not recruit Mourinho. I wonder if this is true or if the English Press are simply starting trouble due to Greece leapfrogging past England into Pot
cyberfish
The draw started with the Asia Groups. Some interesting games for political reasons ahead with both Koreas in the same group, and Iraq with Australia. The American groups come next, and Europe next. http://www.fifa.com has a nice flash page with the draw live.

cyberfish
It would be funny to see the North qualify over the South... I thought I was good at Geography, but I see some countries I've never heard off. St. Kitts & Nevis  Why can't we play against such teams? we would be in every world cup. athinaios
St. Kitts & Nevis  Why can't we play against such teams? we would be in every world cup. Greece should move to the Carribean! Come to think, Antartica might be easier. Isn't about time someone represented this forgotten continent?!!! Gosh, FIFA's live feed is good only for certain ..territories, and the US is not one of them   But, who needs FIFA? We've got Beckam...

cyberfish
Greece Israel Switzerland Moldova Latvia Luxembourg Israel and Switzerland will be a good challenge, and so would be Moldova and Latvia away, but none of these teams strikes fear in me. I think we can start making reservations for S. Africa in three years :gr:Here are the complete groups: Group 1 Portugal, Sweden, Denmark, Hungary, Albania, Malta Group 2 Greece, Israel, Switzerland, Moldova, Latvia, Luxenbourg Group 3 Chech Republic, Poland, N Ireland, Slovakia, Slovenia, S. Marino Group 4 Germany, Russia, Finland, Wales, Azerbaijan, Liechtenstein Group 5 Spain, Turkey, Belgium, Boznia H., Armenia, Estonia Group 6 Croatia, England, Ukrane, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Andora Group 7 France, Romania, Serbia, Lithouania, Austria, Feroe Islands Group 8 Italy, Bulgaria, Ireland, Cyprus, Georgia, Montenegro Group 9 Netherlands, Scotland, Norway, FYROM, Iceland
Irlandos
My thought exactly! Maybe the weaker opponents will also be good for trying out some young talent?
paxiotis7
Thats like the perfect group. Although isreal has alota young talent, so do we.

DUDE
This is an unusual draw because we drew the weakest team in pot 2 and the strongest in pot 3 who should be in pot 2! It's a great opportunity but we can't be complacent! :gr: :gr: :gr: Also, Italy Bulgaria Ireland Cyprus Georgia Montenegro Great opporunity for Cyprus to make an impression! No reason we can't finish 2nd or 3rd with a bit of luck.
