Well, you made the first step by speaking with the coach of the women's team on the podcast. Make your move. 1

The problem being, if you don't have a grass roots level system, how can you have an elite system. It would be like Australians trying to compete on an international level in Ice Hockey, or Americans in cricket. 1
PaokCT Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 Correct. Needs to start at a grassroots level. But interest needs to be there first. If you can get a couple quality players to go overseas and play for PAOK, then we may do better in Europe , raising awareness for the team. Then we could start doing clinics, camps, etc... 1

I have thought of this previously. The easiest way for the club to do this would be to scout some girls of Greek descent here or in NA or maybe Germany where they've had a more extensive grounding than the greek girls. 1

Nea Bafra Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 half an hour in and the opposition has not strung 4 passes together [that's not a metaphor I have been counting]
Blackhawk Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 You can watch the game live here. Sunday, June 13, 2021, 20:30 EEST:
Dutch Eagle Posted June 13, 2021 Posted June 13, 2021 And they are champions again after a 2-0 victory! 1
Athens4 Posted June 13, 2021 Posted June 13, 2021 I am going to sound miserable but it really doesn't mean much. For as long as I can remember they have been winning the league and losing in the initial rounds of Women's CL. Some of the losses in Europe were quite heavy too.
Blackhawk Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 We are talking about a purely amateur competition. Don't understand why somebody would put the team down, when they are trying their best and bring titles to our beloved team. This might not mean much to you, but to the players and staff it is a great deal and should be encouraged to continue to improve. 2

They are winning trophies domestically and having a great time. The whole situation just reminds me of those teams like Tre Fiori (San Marino) or B36 Torshavn (Faroe Islands) who almost always win their domestic title before getting knocked out in the first or second qualifying round of the Champions League (sometimes even the Preliminary!). Great, you win the domestic league but are then non-existent in Europe. Anyway, the girls are doing their thing - they shouldn't care about what a grumpy git like me thinks.
Dutch Eagle Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 Bad or good, this goal they scored is a wet dream or on the bucket list of a lot of men: https://inpaok.com/689886/tromeri-gkolara-titlou-apo-tin-spyridonidou-video/
Nea Bafra Posted June 15, 2021 Posted June 15, 2021 the men DONT win the league and are irrelevant in europe, i know what I would prefer 1 1

Yes I would rather our men swept aside all before them and became a juggernaut of european football, but I don't discount the efforts and professionalism despite the disrespect shown them and the lack of pay of our women footballers by saying it doesn't mean much. Again, I reiterate that the gals should not be the slightest concerned about what people like me think. As long as they are doing what they love and winning, then that is really all that matters. The lack of pay is completely different topic. At least in professional sports, people are paid most where there is a demand. Compared to men's football there is minimal demand for women's. Most football fans probably couldn't name more than a few female players without looking them up. I myself can recall only Rapinoe (and even then I still don't know her first name). The fact that people are angry about female footballers not receiving the same pay is worrying. It shows a clear lack of understanding and (dare I say it) almost a Socialist view on competitive sports where males and females differ. I never hear anybody complain how female models earn more than their male counterparts, which is based purely on looks and not ability. (After reading your post, I may have jumped the gun and assumed you meant equal pay - please tell me if I misunderstood your comment). Of course, this is completely different to regular jobs where everyone should indeed be entitled to equal pay.

Dutch Eagle Posted July 1, 2021 Posted July 1, 2021 The women will know their fate for the new CL as the draw is tomorrow. In the champions path 11 groups will be formed for a mini tournament with two seeded and two unseeded team. PAOK is seeded. First match (semifinal) is at home as the team with the highest coefficient plays at home (August 18). Second game (final or third-place match, but why on earth do they play that third-place match anyway?) the team with the highest plays at home. 11 winners advance to round 2 with the other three teams that start in that round. The seven winners of that two-legged pairing advance to the GS. Lets see where the girls stand. 18 clubs have a better coefficient than PAOK in round 1. And 2 teams in round 2, if ..........
Dutch Eagle Posted July 2, 2021 Posted July 2, 2021 Group 7 PAOK (GRE, 2) vs Agarista CSF Anenii Noi (MDA, 4) Vålerenga (NOR, 1) vs Mitrovica (KOS, 3) Good draw for PAOK as the Norwegians have a coefficient of 9.800 and PAOK 7.000. In another group the #1 and #2 seeds were drawn together. Good luck!
Blackhawk Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 The PAOK women's team will play the semifinal game of the UEFA Womens's Champions League against the Moldovan team SS Anenii Noi on August 18, 2021 at 18:00 EEST.
